I can only get Nico to walk, or sprint - not run?

Recommended Posts

Hmm...nope for me, left shift is "sprint", so holding that down and pushing 'w' to move forward just puts me into a full speed run. When I stop holding it, I slow to a walk.

Isn't there an option to kinda jog along??

I think for whatever reason if you have it binded to Shift he sprints even if you're just holding it. Try setting it to a different key and see if it works how it should (Hold to run, Tap to sprint).

I think it is impossible to run "slowly" on the PC using keyboard. You must have a controller with analog sticks to run in this "slower" way. I have a Cordless Rumblepad 2 (even though I don't use it to play GTA IV) and I can run this way when I hold down the number 2 button (A on 360 and X on PS3) and move using the left analog stick. When I tap that number 2 button, Niko will sprint.

For some reason, if you bind shift to run, holding it down makes you sprint, not run. But if you bind it to any other key, then holding it down will let you run, while tapping will make you sprint. So, just bind the run key to something like alt or space.

This.

If the run key is bound to shift, Niko will always sprint. But if you bind the run key to something else, like space bar, then you will jog with while keeping the space bar pressed and sprint when tapping space bar.

Remap the running-sprint to , left control and duck to left shift, that's how I use it and works better in my opinion.

Patch 1.0.04 let's you assign a second input.

Or just bind sprint to both shift and alt. Alt isn't used by any in-game function, so you're not loosing anything. Then you could hold down shift to sprint and alt to run.

If I tap W nothing happens. I can either walk slowly(default), or sprint(when shift is pushed). VERY annoying.

Theres a option in the main menu of 'Controls' at the first page of it, it shows something with running and crouching, just switch the option at running or whatever its called to the other one, and youll be able to run slowly.

I must sound like an idiot by now, but I'm battling to get this to work.

For me, in the "controls" page, under keyboard/mouse Options (but before I go into "custom mapping") it shows :

Always Sprint - {toggle/hold}

Crouch - {toggle/hold}

I don't see anything for "run"... and regardless of whether I use toggle, or hold for sprinting, I still go from walking slowly, to sprinting!

I just want to be able to run around at a jog. Surely I must just be missing something?

Thanks to anyone who can explain what I am doing wrong.

Wow, really?

They said it multiple times: Shift sprints. All other keys can have jog+sprint with tap, but not shift. Shift will only sprint.

The toggle means if you tap the key once, he stays jogging (in the case of shift, he stays running) without walking.

Assign the button to another key, enjoy.

I have set my sprint key to middle mouse button

and if I set the controler option "Always Sprint" to "toggle" Nico run at a jog by keep pressing mmb

and if i clickledyclick permanently mmb, Nico sprint

and in multiplayer my player sprint just by keep pressing mmb
