-maddog-
Yea thats a small drawback with such a small camera! Getting steady handheld shots is difficult! Just get a gorillapod or a low end tripod for it! No need for a big bulky thing for that small camera!
Rebel
I was thinking something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/images/...8&s=electronics - Mainly because its a lot cheaper than those gorillapods. I mean I don't think I could complain with that stand being £22 all the way down to £9. Edit - So I uploaded a video to Youtube, its still being processed so the quality probably isn't perfect. I had to change the format because when I played the clip on my PC right after taking it from the camcorder the edges of everything were really jagged and weird. So I changed the format to WMV? in Sony Vegas and uploaded it after. Any tips on what the best format would be to use for Youtube? I'm going to stick to recording to HD quality on the camcorder (not the very best HD type though) Stupid me I forgot the video! Maybe you didn't copy the video ID properly. The weird jaggies are probably a simple scaling issue - I often get that from EX-1 footage. It's usually only a playback issue. Seeing as how Vegas can naively handle your camera's codec, I'd try working without converting first. Export at the settings you're editing, then convert afterward. When you upload to youtube, I have best luck with mp4 at around 6 mbps or h264 at 3.5-4 mbps. These are codecs that are simple enough to export with Quicktime Pro, or a combination of Quicktime Alternative and MpegStreamclip. I recommend getting Quicktime Pro. Rebel
Ah my bad, hopefully it will work now. I think I'll shoot some more within Sunday and then play around with the stuff in Vegas. I mean the quality is good for straight out the box and no messing around although I think I did change the quality to HD.
Otter
Looks like you're exporting with letterboxes, too. You'll want to avoid that. If you shoot HD, you'll want to be sure you're cutting and exporting HD as well. Footage looks good! I love how little the image blows out when you first come around the corner - that's pretty versatile. Is there manual exposure control/lock? Have fun! Rebel
Yeah there's some manual options that I went through the other night while messing with the options. You know how I can avoid exporting with letterboxes? Since I didn't know it was even doing that.
Otter
What are your project settings? If you're working with 720p, you'll want to be editing at 1280x720, 25 or 29.97 frames per second, 1.0 pixel aspect ratio. Then when you export, use the same settings. Slamman
In the Sony world I have analog still, Hi8. Use for YouTube of course, and on those cameras, the Widescreen is still allowed in the Menu. For future capture, look to shoot 16:9 over WS if optioned or WIDE, or FULL are typically used terms to express the same anamorphic setting
Otter
There's no point to be shooting in SD. With AVCD, the difference in storage is negligible. And I don't believe this camera shoots anamorphic 1080i, rather, square pixels. Please stop confusing the issue, Slamman.
Rebel
The settings on the camcorder right now are, HD HQ which says AVC HD 9M. The option up from that is HD FH which is recorded in 1920x1080. There's a Wide selection button to press however with the settings I have now it doesn't let me go into that menu. No digital zoom, X. V Colour is off. Conversion Lens is off, but it gives the options of wide, and tele. Let me know if I should change any of that. Also, you'll have to forgive me Otter, but what you said after project I didn't understand what you were talking about.
