I think it'll be announced next year, and be releaesd in 2011. Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of GTA III.

Well, I think the first trailer will come out in March 2010, and then it will be set to be released in October 2010, but around July it will be delayed, and then it will be released in April 2011.

But I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a release early next year.

Think about it, TLaD and TBoGT were released within 1,5 years after the release of IV. Considering that they already had the setting, the stories must have been pretty much finished minding that they probably were written along with the IVscript. What was left to do really? Some new animations, a couple of new features and adding some vehicles, some polishing too of course. Voice acting and that kind of stuff probably took quite some time though. Now I don't know too much about this kind of work but this seems like a rather long time to make games that just needed details added too them.

Maybe because they were working on Agent, maybe because they were working on a new GTA installment or maybe because I don't know too much about it and these things are way harder and take way longer time than I think.

 

But it is a possibility.

I believe it will be released in October of either 2010 or 2011. Traditionally, GTA games are released in October and if you notice all of them (I'm pretty sure) are/were set to be released on main format eg. PS2 or Xbox 360 in October.

 

If they haven't decided on a city yet, I don't really see GTA V being released in about 10 months time. But you never know.

Going back to GTA2, this simply isn't true.

 

GTA1, London 1969, and London 1961 were all the exact same engine. GTA2 was the same engine as GTA1-era, but modified just a bit for some new features. GTA1, L69, and GTA2 were all on PS1.

 

Now, if they followed suit for GTAIV-V, it would be something like this in the future:

GTAIV, TLaD, and BoGT were all the exact same engine. GTAV was the same engine as GTAIV-era, but modified just a bit for some new features. GTAIV, EfLC, and GTAV were all on PS3/360

 

Note: I left out PC in these because PC has worked for every era, thus isn't a good comparison for what I'm getting at.

How do you know that? Its highly possible based on where we are in the console lifespan for it to happen. There is almost no doubt the next GTA will be on 360 and PS3, thus they either continue the IV canon, and possibly the already established cities, or move on completely with the same engine. If they move on completely, it would be an exact mirror of what happened in the GTA2 situation, thus creating the following pattern:

 

GTA-GTA2 on PS1GTA3 on PS2 (xbox)GTA4-GTA5 on PS3 (360)GTA6 on PS4 (neXtbox)etc...

 

Otherwise, they risk just milking the saga dry and possibly alienating fans.

 

(Note: Using PS only for show of generations of gaming cause it is simple naming.)
