A new way to play

I thought up of a new way to play GTA(after the story of course) With my idea, replayibility-is that a word?- would be better than the tedious and boring 100% checklist, which I never do.

Creating a crime syndicate and raising your rep.

After completing the story, a new menu would appear (either in your phone or the pause menu) listing 5 or 6 crime syndicates, referred in the story but never impacting it. The syndicates are ranked from 1(being the most powerful) to last(being the weakest, which is you, right after the story) To rank up, you have to raise your rep and take down the other syndicates.

-Raising your rep, the capitalist way:

There are a few ways of raising your rep. The basic way is being an awesome consumer as in purchasing expensive clothes, accessories, cars(when purchased, cars automatically appear at your safehouse)and safehouses(includes penthouses and mansions)With a low rep purchasing assets like clubs (strip and dance) and banks is a little harder. You can't just buy them, you need to initmidate the owner into selling the asset to you. The intermediate way of rasing your rep is buying bodyguards or an entourage( the most you can buy are four but you can upgrade their weapons and armour, also you can buy henchmen but this will not raise your rep) Bodyguards can drive you around like Mohammad in IV but they will not leave you when you get out and it is an option so you can drive at anytime. The advance way of raising your rep is purchasing assets. Assets include bars, dance clubs, strip clubs, banks. and drug fronts (which gives the most bang for your buck but it is harder to keep) Assets also bring in money(think Godfather Game or San Andreas) When your rep is high, you can purchase henchmen and upgrade their weapons(not armour). With a high rep, henchmen spawn faster and more frequently( they guard your assets and safehouses and serve as backup when needed) To rank up, you need to take out the opposing synidicates.

Taking down syndicates and becoming number 1.

You can hit any syndicate at any time but the difficulty of taking down a syndicate is indicated by their rank, so tthe easiest to hit is the rank immediately before you and the hardest to hit is No 1. To take down a syndicate, you have to kill 5 V.I.P. Their locations are updated to you via phone. Before you can kill a V.I.P., you have to lower their rep by destroying or taking over their assets(this includes banks) Also, syndicates purchase drugs from out-of-the-country smugglers (which you can do also to upgrade your drug fronts) and you can destroy or steal the shipment. If you want to be a weasel, you can also just call the cops. The deal are updated to you by phone. Once you kill all 5 V.I.P., by either assinating yourself or hiring a hitman (whom mostly won't succeed) the syndicate will drop all the way to last and your syndicate will take its place.

Lowering your rep and rank

As you raise your rank, syndicates will try to take you down and replace your rank. Syndicates will do this by destroying or taking your assets but you can always defend. At the same time, the police will raid your drug fronts or deals. When police raid your fronts, a wanted circle(like in IV) will appear around your front and if you enter that circle, you automatically gain 3 stars(higher if the front is upgraded) You can defend the front from the cops but then you'll have to lose your wanted level. On deals you automatically gain 4 stars and will have to defend the shipment and lose your wanted level. When you lose rep and is killed more than three times while defending or hitting an asset, you lose your rank.

That's it....feedback is more than welcome

This sounds like a good idea. Its a nice way to keep the game fun even after 100%.

One suggestion, the higher your rank the more police are after you. If the police bust your deal, then there is an X% chance that your man will rat you out. After so many deals busted, the cops start coming after you. Say at your safehouse, or just driving down the street. It would make certain police chases fun. You would have both the police and the gangs after you.

EDIT: I see how you did it, nvm. But how would you loose your wanted level??

This is a fantastic idea dragmetolibertycity! I really like it, the syndicates, or businesses could run similarly to how they run on the Godfather games, a mixture of that would be perfect! In GTA:CTW they did drug dealing, maybe they'll add it into the GTA Next? Nevertheless it is a good possibility. I think one of the weaknesses of GTA IV in terms of re-playability was the lack of such things as businesses or gang battles, even if there were gangs present, and even though it would be relatively easy to do so. It is understood that the gameplay was the centrepiece, though it doesn't give much returnability for the game. I go back and play Vice City and San Andreas just to pick up money from businesses and do stuff with gangs.

I think that you could have many businesses, so Pizza Restaurants could be tier 1, Gun Factories could be teir 5, Drug Plant tier 4, etc. I think though it'd be great to have an entourage like the Godfather, where you can get a decent and very powerful entourage. I also think that it could be done during the storyline, so for example tier 1 for a certain period of time, tier 2 for a certain period of time, etc. Then you could unlock all 1/2 way of storyline, or 2/3. I think that would give ability to use it to your benefit, as well as replayability in having to always challenge it.

The security should be chosen, and how much of it, which type of vehicles. If you had a gang of 20 protecting a Drug Plant for example, it would be pretty useful. The only criticism I can see is multiple businesses getting raided at once, and that would really suck and be hard to manage.

Anyway excellent, Cookie for you! cookie.gif

Though I don't think Rockstar will pay any attention to these epic ideas tounge.gif
