Gta: San Andreas Stories

Well they had liberty city stories, vice city stories but none from san andreas.

To my knowledge this could be the only way for the guy who predicted a new gta in 2010 to be right. They already have most the map they would have to update the graphics but since SA is recent most the map is done.

They could make it a 2010 game and not a 90s game so it has a new feel like GTA IV did.

More reasons to come later.

Feel free to post your own. Most good ones will be put here

No.

They're done with the III canon. Also,

I don't get what you mean by this part. The game is five years old. And how can the map be nearly done if they haven't even worked on it?

They need to do San Andreas and Vice City in the current gen or next gen. There the two most exciting and best places they can do.

Forget about this "they created the feel of 80's" crap, just imagine going up Mount Chiliad on todays graphics or being in a packed beach with lush palm trees.

The rest of GTA games that will release on the current generation will be related to GTA IV in terms of the story . The saga of GTA III has ended , There's no more CJ , Tommy and Claud . If there's GTA SA stories , it will be on the PSP or the next generation of portable consoles ( PSP2 , for example ) .

Look guys i have a good point here, Rockstar have left the GTA III cannon uncompleted by not finishing the GTA III "Stories" series. Its like leaving a chapter out of a book so if R* sre reading it makes sense to finish the cannon eg book. Also it cant be that hard compared to what they have done in the past just use the same engine, make a new story and features and release it on the PS" and PSP.

III canon itself is over, but they're not done making those kinds of games.

Chinatown Wars is basically the NextGen GTA1 - the next gen of the gaming equipment/consoles that ran GTA 1 is no longer PC and TV console but known as "Handheld Devices" which are more powerful than what we used to run GTA 1 on.

So the top downs are still being made, albeit more bells and whistles, so we can be sure it's not just top down and the big boys (IV games) - they will still do lower end GTA titles that are too big for handhelds.

Wii needs a GTA, DS games usually prove any concept prior to it being proven on Wii, so maybe CTW was that first outing in that territory. Manhunt 2 shows that GTA will have no problem getting on Wii too. Maybe that lower res liberty will get higher res textures and go on as one last PS2 game (is there still time?) and the first Wii GTA... Because it's kinda like a PS2 map, and definitely if they use 128 x128 textures instead of the small things on the handhelds (probably 16x16 and 32x32, max).

Not to mention, at one time, the game boy advance got GTA 1 (sorta, GTA Advance) now it has a partway 3D version. PSP is currently comparable best to the PS1. The next handhelds that come from Nintendo and Sony will probably be really powerful compared to these, and then we'll certainly see some more PS2 style games, and hopefully, GTA games are in the bunch.

Game dev is not just about pushing the limits, it's about exploiting what is comfortable. That's why the handhelds are in no rush to be high res or anything - that time will come, in the mean time, milk the old tech! milk it! and, I'm sure, they will.

GBC got GTA1 and GTA2, GBA got GTA3 (At least that is wat Adv was supposed to be at first) and DS got GTA4. This is an exact parallel to PS1 getting GTA1 and 2, PS2 getting GTA3, and PS3 getting GTA4.

If they ever do another GTA3 era game, it would likely follow the path of Manhunt2, ie: PS2, Wii, PSP. In fact, it would likely use the same engine. It would definitely be a nice final farewell to the PS2, but still highly unlikely.

BTW:

supermortalhuman: PSP is comparable to the PS2, not the PS1.

AnthMUFC-Champs: Just cause they didn't do the cities twice doesn't mean they left the story unfinished. Sure there is a gap between the late 80s and early 90s, but most of what happened during that time was explained in the story as we have it.

IMO the time for SAS has passed. What's really the point? R* have had plently of time make it, but they've been concentrating on the GTA IV GTAs.

SAS will be like Duke Nukem Forever.

offtopic: Really is that true? is the PSP really more like a ps2 than a ps1 in capabilities? wow.gif

Well, almost. I don't know much about psp's, but graphics is really good for some games. It's definitely not with ps1 capabilities, more ps2.

Very much so, infact, the PSP when fully clocked is actually more powerful than the PS2:

PSP:

# CPU: PSP CPU (System clock frequency 1~333 MHz)

# Main Memory: 32 MB

# Embedded DRAM: 4 MB

# Optical Disc: 1.8 GB UMD

PS2:

# CPU: 64-bit "Emotion Engine" clocked at 294.912 MHz (299 MHz on newer versions)

# System Memory: 32 MB Direct Rambus

# Embedded DRAM: 4 MB

# Optical Disc: 700 MB CD, 4.7 GB DVD, or 8.5 GB DL DVD

Holy sh*t dude, I never looked at them side by side like that, thanks for that! I guess it's been so long since I saw a PSP and since then I learned about life cycles of consoles and how console brown is really just a way to extend the platform and add color to sequels etc to keep them fresh - it never dawned on me that the games I saw were just holding back on that platform as well. Amazing little machine, more powerful than I thought, for sure!

And Kowah is right, because they said the III era is not necessarily over, and we should take that with a grain of salt sure, but we can't ignore that the Wii hasn't had a GTA yet and that it is only a bit more capable than a PS2, as well as PSP is still around. The DS could be the framework platform - this is where you build your games, and the Wii might be very similar to it (it makes sense, stylus does translate to wiimote really well in MOST occasions that I can think of) and the city has been uprezzed once to go onto PSP, I can't see why they wouldn't upscale it again in texture resolution, maybe add some detail, use nicer cars (wii would def look a lot nicer than III era games did on PS2, comparable they may be).

They would have to do it after Liberty is over for IV and we are already in a new city on that one, I don't think they'd put THAT liberty out until it's truly over for IV's first game.

Well, in comparison, the DS can't compete hardware wise with the other consoles. However, the PSP, PS2 and Wii are close enough that they could be the 3 consoles that get a SAS or such, even though the Wii is actually closer to the Xbox (original) than the PS2/PSP. I actually think it would be harder to make a DS game as a test, then move it to Wii. If they did it on PSP/PS2, they already have an engine to work with, and porting a PS2 engine to Wii isn't that difficult. On the other hand, the DS would require a completely different engine all together. Of course, the Wii version would naturally be the definitive version of 3 based on pure system capability alone, especially if they include Classic Controller or GameCube controller support. inlove.gif

DS:

# CPUs: ARM946E-S main CPU clocked at 67 MHz, ARM7TDMI co-processor clocked at 33 MHz

# Memory: 4 MB Mobile RAM

# GamePak: 8-512 MB Flash Memory

Wii:

# CPU: PowerPC-based "Broadway" clocked at 729 MHz

# Combined System Memory: 88 MB SDRAM + 3 MB texture memory

# Optical Disc: 4.7 GB DVD, 8.5 GB DL DVD

Xbox (for comparison, note: PowerPC preforms better than Pentium for 3D games):

# CPU: 32-bit, Pentium III-based clocked at 733 MHz

# Combined System Memory: 64 MB DDR SDRAM

# Optical Disc: 4.7 GB DVD, 8.5 GB DL DVD

  • 2 weeks later...

there have rumblings of a gta on the ps2 that will be kind of like a send off to it. if they do make 1 more gta for the ps2, i think it'll be either SA Stories or another game set in LC that will close the book on the III cannon and tie up all the loose ends.
