Slingaa
Hey all, before I state my reasons etc. I'd like to say PLEASE use spolier tags; I haven't completed BoGT yet. Here's the code: I think Rockstar should make a BoGT movie. It has exceeded its expectations and I think it's safe to say nobody hates it (bar some noobs.) The feel of the game was just awesome; it was like being back in Vice City. The storyline (so far) was amazing, original and realistic. If Rockstar just toned it down a little, took away a few mission and shortened some cutscenes, maybe it would fit in say three hours or so? I think removing the mom missions wouldn't be too bad and would cut down a bit. If that's not possible, I'd equally like to see an episodic TV show. In my eyes it would be the ultimate film/TV show. TBoGT made me literally fall of my chair laughing, it's just so funny. The action is brilliant, in Boom Boom when Luis blew up the crane, train and plane was simply breathtaking. Thoughts? Renold
I agree that it's one of the best GTA's yet and my favourite one so far, but turning it into a film would be a huge mistake. When we play The Ballad it is us who's in control of Luis, this bridges a connection immediately as we assert ourselfs in the role, we like to customise, we like to imagine, but if he was on film it could be Will Smith or some other fellow, they could easily ruin the whole thing. GTA has been, and always will be, about connecting the player to the game and R* do this so very well. In a film that connection would be lost in the first minute. I hope for the sake of everyone here in the forums and for the sake of one of the best gaming series' of all time that R* never, ever make a film or tv series, the latter would be even worse. Anywho, that's my 2 pence Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/433364-film/#findComment-1059647424 Share on other sites
wryan10
I would like the see the GTA team do a TV series on HBO(or insert any channel that wouldn't needlessly censor them). That being said, I'd like for them to come up with original characters/city/storyline if they were going to do that as opposed to using niko, johnny, or luis.(and i'm somebody who loves the stories for each of the 3 protaganists in gta iv) I agree that we all have our own 'vision' of who these characters are because we controlled them so no matter how they handled them in a tv/movie forum most of us would feel short changed. I'd love to see them do something where they came up with a new city and 3 characters and scripted out say 3 or 4 seasons right at the start.(shows are always better when the writers know the endgame from the start) It would never happen, but I'd love to see each episode dedicated to a specific character and then have them cross paths in subtle and not so subtle ways throughout the run of the show.(just like gta iv did) Using gta iv as an example...imagine of the first season played out the vlad storyline for niko, and then all of the sudden lost and damned hits you with a few episodes(changing the way the camera looks, the fonts for credits, music, etc), and then similar with luis. What would tie them together would be the city itself. I think it's way too experimental to work.(they would look at it as too confusing for the masses), but if done right it could be amazing... ...just my 2 cents... Renold
@ wryan10: I think I could live with that lol, maybe a series that is an entirely new GTA would be alright because, just like the handheld versions, I can easily dissmiss it if it doesn't appeal to me, as long as they leave IV and it's brother and sister alone I'll be happy By the way I'm not saying the handheld versions are rubbish or anything it's just that 1) I don't own a hand held console and 2) I prefer the whole shabang of a proper console Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/433364-film/#findComment-1059647492 Share on other sites
thebellicbrotherfan
i have always liked the idea of a gta film . but i think if they will make a film it should be about GTA IV cuz the original story is so much better then any of the DLC's . now dont get me wrong i had more fun playing TLAD&BOGT but if we get to talking about a movie then niko's story would be number 1 . there is so much emotion in that story . to see a man who has seen his life get f*cked up and then takes revenge thats a great story . that's just my oppinion Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/433364-film/#findComment-1059647501 Share on other sites

Cheat
I think IV would be a great movie, and TBoGT and TLaD would be amazing as for example a 4 - part miniseries, each lenght 30 or 45 min or something.. PearlHarborPants
I would like the see the GTA team do a TV series on HBO This. A Movie is too short to fit GTA Stories in. A TV Series will be perfect. Probably 1 mission per episode or if possible 2-5 for short missions. Tipper
Videogames' adaptations on cinema always suck. And if there was to be a GTA film, I could bet my balls they woulnd't respect the GTA universe and set the film in a real city with real brand names and all. And by the way, even if I liked TBOGT, it has the worst storyline of all GTA-IV era stories. And they wouldn't change the names and cities etc if it was made by Rockstar. Plus they wouldn't call it GTA. The missions are more exciting, but the storyline has some plot holes. IV's storyline is the best by far, and if they were going to do a movie/TV series (I hope they don't) they should do it about Niko. And the film named Grand Theft Auto had no connection with R*, or the GTA games. Ash_735
I have to disagree about Luis' story being the best, it's the most actiony one, but TLAD and GTA IV are miles ahead in terms of story. Also thanks for calling us noobs because we don't think TBOGT is the best GTA, haha. Magic_Al
I think GTA's main appeal is the player being able to explore and choose, inside a cool world that seems like it's out of a movie. Turning it into "just" a movie would diminish it. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/433364-film/#findComment-1059648584 Share on other sites
SafetyCatch
I agree with Magic_Al. Whenever I watch a crime drama or something like that, it always makes me want to play GTA IV. There is no need to get personal. If the topic's lame... why post in it? I never understood why people just hop into a thread just to bash it... Anyway, I disagree with TBoGT being the most epic storyline ever. I mean, granted it was great - I liked the friendship between Tony and Luis (similar to Ken and Tommy from VC), but at the end I was like, "EHH". TLaD resonates with me more, the ending was absolutely amazing, the missions were awesome, and the game could not have ended any better. They need to make a biker miniseries or something based on that! Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/433364-film/#findComment-1059648789 Share on other sites
Slingaa
I hated the Lost and Damned. Being a biker really didn't suit me and most of the characters were assholes. Honestly; I've never played Vice City, Vice City Stories, GTA III or Liberty City Stories. But out of IV, TLaD, SA and BoGT - BoGT is my favourite. Rag
I wouldn't mind seeing a mix of IV, TLaD and TBoGT. Start with Niko getting off the boat, Gay Tony buying the diamonds, The Lost ambushing them, focus on The Lost and AoD gang wars, the museum mission, maybe a few filler scenes and ending with shots of Niko at the happiness island, Johnny shooting Billy and Luis parachuting to the ground.
