GTA ignores commandline

Recommended Posts

For some reason GTA totaly ignores MOST of my commands in commandline.txt. This is what my commandline.txt looks like. It's directly from enviroment mod 5 readme.

Problem is, as I said, GTA ignores all commands exept "-norestrictions". Anyone have a clue why?

1: use them properly. Framelimit is a true or false (1/0), not a direct frame count setting.

2: use one line of text, do not add them on new lines (this is not required, but you will know your setup better that way and you won't get confused when something should work and you're just missing a space)

highlight this:

-example-example-example-example

Now this:

-example -example -example -example edit: that sh*t didn't work either. There should be white space after those there IS if you quote my post to test that way, but you get the idea.

Keeping your commands on one line helps to avoid that kind of confusion or overlooked detail.

disclaimer: read all of the following before fighting with me, i am here to help this guy, not to argue about my statements. I do not mean them in a conceited way, I mean them in a matter-of-fact way, and the super just means very.

Lastly, I don't even use commands anymore - the game runs fine. No one can tell me any different. If you experience problems, check OTHER aspects of your system, GTA IV is fine. I have a 1.86ghz processor and I run this game on very high settings, without commands, now back on 32 bit with the same performance as 64 bit was it turns out, 1600x1200. I do have a 1gb GTS 250 on here though. But I had a 3850 512mb and it ran the game exactly as well except on medium textures, high everything else. The only thing that 1gb vram canged was ability to up textures.

Now, if you need to use a command, do so to make up for your system. For example, restrict memory if you need to. That's the main thing here - you used many commands that cancel each other out. How can you put -memrestrict and you also tell it -norestrictions? Think about what you are doing, and use these as sparingly as possible... here, you see, me, with a sh*tty processor, I run this game 30 FPS on very high settings - I run this game better than most Quad Core users here run this game - I'm the person/one of the people to listen to with this (and some others to listen to are already here), believe me. So, basically, let's change your topic from how to use this file, to why you want to use it like this...

It is full of reduncancies in which settings you are effecting, and contradictions, basically (norestrictions mixed with a memrestrict? no. Reflections at 0 of "OFF" and you expect to set their resolution upward? tounge.gif)

What are you experiencing that makes you want all these settings? Maybe I/we can help.

I just want those great looking reflections that I see in some screenshots in enviroment mod thread tounge2.gif

I lowered my texturequality to medium and used only the resolution commandlines. (-reflectionresolution 2048 -shadowresolution 2048). Also tried with 1024 resolution and no luck.

I don't care so much of texture resolution, the game looks great on medium, but those bulcky reflections and shadows bug me. suicidal.gif

BTW. I'm using ultimate citytextures 2.0, Realism IV 6.2 and enviroment mod 5. (Installed in that order)

i think u need to use enbseries_gta4_v0076b.. [not AA one, the reflections test]

and run the game without pressing shift + f12 to activate effects.

it should make the reflections better.. maybe a little fps loss.
