Most games do not have a modding community nor do they get extended in any way. Well, most of the POPULAR games (and I say, most of them) can be modded and get modded. Check out FPSBanana, it's a website focussing mainly on modifications for FPS games but since some time they've added more and more games to their list (including non-FPS games). You can see a damn lot of games can be modded and effectively get modded. And also, modding is NOT exclusive to PC gaming yes... but still it's more effecient on PC. On top of that, I have yet to see active communities concerning modding on consoles (and with MODDING I'm talking about customisation of 'ingame content'. Skins, tweaks, custom models, soundmods...). NOT the hacking aspect and/or being able to run 'illegal copies'. Which is in my opinion not modding but... well piracy. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

viometrix Posted November 20, 2009 Share Posted November 20, 2009 i have about 170 games installed on my system from the last 10 yrs or so, 90% of them have mods, cheats, hacks and conversions installed. though i need to honestly reduce the number of games, im killing hard drive space and almost used all 7 terabytes. and whether it has a "mod community" or not, ANY pc game can be modded. ive modded many myself without the need of a website to give the mods to me. Sound, texture, model mods, the whole nine yards. OK, now you have gone into the sphere of popular games and that's another story, isn't it. I have explicitly said - most game don't have modding community and they do not. viometrix Posted November 20, 2009 Share Posted November 20, 2009 lol actually no porn collection (have a wonderful girlfriend that makes porn seem pointless) but yes i have seen the sunlight, i need to make a living to supply my gaming habit. i do have too many games, but i dont need them all installed at once like i do, it is slowing down my rig. and mkey82, who cares about those no name titles (though i found a few gems) its the mainstream stuff people play. but theoratically, and realistically at the same time, anything on the pc can be modded. whether it does or not is another story. heck my o/s is so modded youd think it was mac osx, but it is windows 7. though i like the fact that you can have a debate without mud slinging or starting a flamewar. good arguing with ya ... lol. I think R* is well aware of the PC modding community, but the factoring of illegal mods in online gaming, that was also recently addressed with MS kicking a large amount of people off their Xbox Live accounts. I imagine his three copies are 1 x PS3 version, 1 x Xbox 360 and 1 x PC version. I bought the PS3 version first ('cause there was no other way to play) and then 2 PC versions. One of these I use and the other one has a special place in my personal "Hall of Fame" collection. LOL I'll buy the Master Press when it's released, too. Don't laugh at me 'cause it's because I love this game! Some people here have fancy R* keys ^ and some others have multiple copies. UPDATE: I've just noticed CharmingCharlie said he has a similar set of copies himself. Bought a PS3 copy so I didn't have to wait a year just to play a horribly coded PC version. Mods are Gostown, Myriad Islands, etc. Basically, you're right, great mods out there - but when they are abused, they are hacks. Cheats. Either name is fine, but mods is not a good name for it because we modders don't like cheaters as much as anyone else. Online = Do Not Use Anything But A Vanilla Game - period - it's not hard to play the game as it was intended, I hope Rockstar starts removing modders from the online game Entirely. Mods have NO BUSINESS being online - in an ONLINE settings, they are hacks, no longer are they mods online, they are hacks and cheats.
