I'm really looking forward to the game and am definitely going to get it on the 4th, but I have one question that hopefully you guys can answer... After watching some of the reviews and gameplay, I noticed they've added alot of "easy mode" visuals to the game... what I mean is: white arrow-markers pointing to enemies, ability to see enemies thru walls, huge red skulls marked above spotted enemies, free guns... and although that's fine to include in the game for those who don't want a challange, but I found it breaks the immersion quite a bit. Has anyone seen the options menu or does anyone know if that stuff can be turned off? Mainly, I'm hoping to be able to turn off the HUD, spotted enemies, and colourful arcadey icons littering the screen. . . Well, I found the answer to my question and gotta say I'm a little disappointed... looks like we're stuck with all the screen clutter. Really hope they release a patch to give us the option to turn off text boxes, tutorials, location markers, cross hairs and the HUD. EDIT: I did notice that the gameplay from the release trailer above had clean screen, so hopefully there's still a chance. . I'd also be very surprised if the text boxes remained on screen at all times. Also, the "spotted enemy" markers are in relation to use of the camera to "tag" enemies, allowing you track them. Turning that off would prevent the entire mechanism from working. Amazon told me that it got dispatched around 2PM today. I'm just viewing some screenshots and i can see were you're coming from Oh yeah, it's certainly not game breaking and I know there are tons of features that far outweigh this small thing, but the one thing I really liked about FC2 was the completely clean screen. Maybe if you play in hardcore mode or something like that, it will be turned off. As for your other questions; I haven't played it yet, but check out the recent reviews on youtube... alot of great things being said about the game andI highly recommend grabbing it when it releases. You level up and unlock stuff, you really have to work together and when you and a friend simultaneously perform a stealth knife kill...well..that's just a beautiful thing, lol. But that's the great thing, Ubi really encourages the player to use teamplay or else you will die, it's that simple. The A.I. is relentless AND smart and it's just awesome when those full blown out shootouts happen. We've finished chapter 1 and are busy with chapter 2. It's not short either, it definitely took us a while to finish the first chapter. I was expecting the co-op to feel tacked on, you know...kinda like 'hey..we can put co-op in, why not..let's do it' but no, they clearly paid some real attention to this. Graphically it's nothing less than the campaign graphics and that's quite nice, and at times the graphics really can amaze you too with some awesome lighting effects. And oh my...i love those colourful graphics...this IS Far Cry. Right now i'm expecting that the MP mode could be really fun as well. But nobody was playing just now when i tried to look for a match. And either the tearing and blur is less in the co-op, or else i'm already getting used to it. Sure it's there, but the game is just so awesome, so fun...you just start to forget to pay attention to it, which is good. I've done so little in the campaign yet, just been exploring around, hunting animals, or them hunting me, like a peacock. Yes i actually got owned HARD by a peacock, ahaha. But this game....this game is 100% worth it's money. I haven't been happy with Ubi for a few games this gen..mainly really Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and the terrible Ghost Recon Future Soldier. But this? Awesome!!!!! But like i said before...i must admit though, that when i fired the game up in my 360 and the intro started...i was treated to some HEAVY screen tearing and a very weird motion blur effect when i look/walk around...it was quite bad for me and it still is, but i have gotten used to it. I think the bigger the tv, the more clearly you will see this sh*t. I got a 60 inch plasma here and i'm pretty sure on a much smaller screen, you wouldn't really notice it that much. Not exactly sure why my version is $20 more expensive, but whatever. And yes, I realise Australia game prices are absurd. Anyway, I'll post back with my thoughts a bit later. Hopefully all positive! This is what I expected from Far Cry 1, a living jungle for me to destroy. The shooting is ace and they managed to give each weapon group its own pros and cons so you can set yourself up for each situation. Personally I have been using the bow mostly, it just feels so awesome to take out three people before the last one spots you. The driving is also well done, you really feel the weight of the car and you swerve the beaten paths. There are a few minor niggles but most of them are subjective, one of them being the gore/violence. I feel this game could have ramped up the blood a bit to make the shooting really visceral, they have beheading enemies so it would of been sweet to be able to blow heads off with a shotgun. I'm running in very outdated drivers (306.97), but so far I haven't had any problems. I seriously question the stability of Nvidia's beta drivers, or any of their drivers for that matter.
