Anybody played Dragons' Origin?

Very fun and immersive game. However, a certain part of the game that I really have no interest in playing through has caused me to put it down for MW2. I plan on starting over and trying to avoid said part and just enjoying the great story and cinematics.

ive been wanting to get this game but i havent had the money and had MW2 higher on my priority list. i heard from IGN or xplay that the reviewer was only 150 hours into the game and yet hasnt made a sizable dent in the game. if thats true i will love DA:O ( i love oblivion and Fallout 3 for their lenght but never really cared for the PC RPGs like Warcraft and such)

You will be amazed with the content in this game,I already clocked in 16 hours and I'm only 8% finished.

The best part of the game is the quests, for instance, completing some quests can usually make a previous yet to be finished quest easier (Arl Eamon in Redcliffe quest for example, there is a main quest and a side quest that can be done to make it easier and better). Certain choices in the game also make you think a little bit for a change, because you can never predict what effect its going to have later on.

Haha yeah as a PS3 player it definitely becomes a pain trying to manage spell casting with the dual shock. Also I'm apparently missing out on the entire combat tactics aspect of the game which is only plausible with the PC only overhead view. So yeah, get it on PC if possible.

I've had a great time with my elf mage (after originally starting a human warrior), but now I'm in the Fade trying to gather my companions and defeat the sloth demon. I cannot stand playing this part of the game for more than a few minutes and now not at all. It is just so confusing and monotonous, actually makes me feel a bit claustrophobic. I'm thinking about starting over and just avoiding that quest until as late in the game as possible. Plus I killed Jowan for kicks and I have a feeling I should have let him live to possibly teach me blood magic. But yeah, f*ck the fade.

yeah getting the pC verson isout of the question for me. my comp is 2 years old and can barely run the sims 3 with the worst possibly quality.

so ill probably get it on 360 when i get a job (which hopefully will be very soon).

Stick it out. That part gets pretty fun when you get the special powers.

Plus, Jowan's a bitch. I didn't kill him, but there's an option, if you want to learn Blood Magic, at the end of the other fade quest. (going to to rescue Arl Eamon's kid)

Got this game yesterday, done both patch release, and run it. I quite surprised, this game can run on my PC with weak 512MB 8500GT at playable fps.

Here are the settings is use:

Resolution: 1280x800 (16:10 widescreen)

Graphics detail: Very High

AA: 2x

Texture detail: High

Vsync: On

Disable Multiple Render: On

Full Screen: On

It is really smooth, however I got some lag at the beginning of the game where you talk with your father and the others in a large chamber. But after that, it runs pretty fine even during combat. Probably because the room got the lighting of the fire in the large fireplace.

Still can't adapt with the controls and AI interface though. Also, I got some bugs in the game like these:

The dog that suppose to be here lose it's texture and meshes. I got BSOD after this, but that is because of my own fault, I accidentally change to a resolution which both my GPU and monitor can't support. blush.gif

And these are the fail story capturing, I don't know how to fix this still. sad.gif

But it is only happened once in a blue moon.

planning on picking this up tomorrow on the 360 but I was wondering whether the lack of top down camera was a game breaker? if it does indeed lick nuts i may have to dust off the PC. opinions from people that have played the console version would be appreciated. cheers.

Played it through the first time with a human warrior, ended up being a complete badass in my legion of the dead armor. [hopeless nerd]I'm kind of let down because I ended up having leilana at full approval, but she still went to serve at the f*cking urn of andraste instead of going and traveling with me like we talked about!!! Also, I had sex with morrigan.[/hopeless nerd]

I think I'll let the game sit for a minute, then work on an elf ranger or something. I've never been a big fan of being a magic user in games, let the supporting cast do that sh*t.

Im playing on console with the intent on getting the game on PC next year. I really don't feel Im hindering my PC experience of the game too much buy doing so either, barring a few revealed plot surprises of course.

The combat on the console versions takes on more of an action twang, which doesn't quite lend itself to the combat in Dragon Age. There will be many a time where everyone in your party is on the attack, leaving you holding the controller with not much else to do. It's at these times where you'd prefer to have the over-head to see what everyone is doing on the battle field and to plan your next move.

The console version is far from broken though, with the exception of the lack of tactical view, its still a fairly nut tingling gaming experience.

Wait, what?I have the same GPU and it's not very smooth at 800x600. mercie_blink.gif

Anybody got "The Wardens Keep" DLC? is it worth paying for?

New DLC "Return To Ostagar" coming in the holiday season.

I like the game although I'm not far in and its a learning process with all the functions of the it all, but if you like RPG's then you'll like this.

  • 1 month later...

Sad news. There has been an update by a BioWare community manager on the official forums a few hours ago announcing that Return to Ostagar has officially been delayed (again) for all platforms.
