-Norestrictions, good/bad/what it does?

Hi guys!

I know there are many topics about "norestrictions" but none is like mine biggrin.gif .

Ok so, here we go:

My game is slow ( i have lags ); these are my specs:

( Amd-Athlon 7550 Dual; 2,5Ghz / Ati Radeon 3400HD, 1gb memory )

I tried the commandline.txt thing and it worked and I said: "WoW- no lags, so cool". Even if the texture and graphics are bad, i have no more lags.

I've read many about the commandline but i still have something to ask:

Can the commandline ( especially -norestrictions ) damage my video card/computer? yawn.gif

Here is the text written in the commandline:

-width 512 -height 300 -availablevidmem 2.0 -nomemrestrictions -norestrictions -percentvidmem 100.

All I want to know is if the commandline can damage/hurt/overheat(/etc/lol yawn.gif ) my pc?

The computer is quite new ( bought it 6 months ago )

-Thanks for all your patience and help

-Sorry for my bad english, i'm still learning

-If you can answer me fast it would be GREAT! panic.gif

Love you guys

:EDIT: Additional info: I have the 1.0.2.0 patch + graphics downgrade

I don't think you can harm your computer with those commandlines. The only ones that looks odd to me are for resolution. Can your monitor do 512x300? I've never heard of that, but if it works for you, that's fine. Normally 640x480 or 800x600 are standard at the bottom end.

-norestrictions just enables you to go into graphics settings in the game and mess around without being limited by your graphics card memory. You can mess up performance, but I don't think you can break your machine.

Ok thanks for your answer and I also wait for others:D.

About the 512x300 resolution.. i don't think that 512/300 is the same as 512x300 but this line is less important, my game is running on 1024&768 (60Ghz).

"I don't think you can break your machine." - I wait maybe someone else can give me a better answer. Then i can stop the stress ( lol ) blush.gif

-width 512 -height 300 -availablevidmem 2.0 -nomemrestrictions -norestrictions -percentvidmem 100.

I don't know about that res, if it works for you, great. The other commands you definitively use incorrectly.

* availablevidmem is telling the game to use the set mount of VRAM, in your case it's forcing double VRAM value - remove it

* nomemrestriction - this one is telling the game to remove the memory restrictions. not sure what it does in combination with the previous command - remove it

* norestriction - this one is allowing you to set max settings on any machine - remove it

* precentvidmem - this one allows you to limit your real amount of VRAM to some lover number. Not sure what does it do in combination with the other mem commands - remove it

Your card has 1GB RAM, why do you force a larger VRAM value? It's not like that computer can handle higher settings

Forfixing the lag and stutter, you can use the memrestrict command which is described in more detail in the troubleshooting topic and in the FAW.

I'll read about memrestrict and the other lines... - removing commandline would get me back to a laggy game, but - Pc first, game second:)
