There is a rumour going around that something about the DLC will be announced on the 23rd November. However I would be surprised if they kept it quiet that long. Don't you think we will get a retail version of TLAD? I honestly hate downloading games, I prefer to have all the stuff you get on a retail version (fancy box and DVD, manual, etc). I know there wasn't a retail version of TLAD for the consoles, but maybe on the PC they will use that system? I don't see me downloading +2GB of data via GFWL lol... a single patch takes ages and the thing might even crash during the download. We all know how great our LIVE is... But if you want to experience TLaD this year then I am afraid it will be download only. As for why the 23rd I haven't got a clue I am just repeating what JohnZS said here. Letting a bunch of data be downloaded from one of their servers surely costs less. Well I cannot wait to play TLAD, so if there's no retail version, I'll have to download it. But I'm not going to buy those sh*tty Microsoft Points. Nah, I'll just buy a 1600 points card from GAME.uk or similar and exchange that for the DLC. If they use the same method, that is. I really don't trust Microsoft with my credit card, and buying 2000 points to only use 1600 isn't really attractive. As for the date, the 23rd seems a bit too late IMO. I would expect an official confirmation this week. Rockstar is now pushing the rope a bit too much. They should have announced TLAD on the day after the achievements popped up on GFWL. It would be nice, but no, they kept quiet about all this. I honestly don't like this secrecy at all, why not just confirm the damn DLC? We all know by now, those achievements and the new command lines are not a leak, that's for sure. If they were, Rockstar would have said something by now. When it's a lie, we all find out pretty quickly lol. Oh and I still wonder why JohnZS pointed that day with such certainty. It's a day like all others. However I am a tad bit annoyed that Rockstar has just stayed mum on this. Even a simple "stay tuned for more wink wink wink" would have placated me a bit. But this absolute silence and refusal to say anything comes across as a contemptuous attitude (and I blame my favourite culprit for this in other words Microsoft). I am a bit dissappointed in the gaming media too, they should be pushing Rockstar for more information. Instead we get sweet f*ck all from the media and now the story has died a death. I am beginning to feel the DLC is starting out as it means to go on ie botched to death on the PC. I would be absolutely astonished if there isn't an announcement this week. Another tech company that gets this kind of intense speculation is Apple, which I'm reminded of because this leak is comparable to when placeholder code for future Apple hardware is found in a current version of the Mac OS X or iPhone OS operating system. CrowbarRX Posted November 16, 2009 Share Posted November 16, 2009 Thank god the PS3 vs PC vs X360 debate is dead, i joined at the right time, but heres my take on everything: PC may possibly be getting the DLC due to GTA originating on PC (i still laugh at someone saying to rockstar "gta originated on the playstation!"), while i don't doubt PS3 owners will get it, the wait may be longer, thats why virtually every GTA incarnation past III has seen a PC port. The game originated on a PC, and will forever continue to be released on PC once "exclusivity" agreements are dead. TLaD: Its coming, the announcement has technically already been made by the achievements, realistically. Why would they need to come out and say "hey, Lost and Damned is coming to the PC!" when you can see TLaD achievements with your own eyes, plus the commandline to uninstall downloaded content. The only announcement i'm expecting is "TLaD Now avaliable on GFWL" through RGSC or rockstargames.com. TBoGT: TLaD coming, TBoGT will follow, it may be a few months, it may be 2 weeks, who knows, but it will most likely eventually turn up. Everyone needs to stop brawling with each other with "which gaming platforms dick is bigger" and just accept the fact that if it comes, it comes. (...that didn't quite sound right). If it doesn't turn up on PS3, big deal. PS2/PSP had exclusivity for 5 GTA titles, sony decided to not renew the agreement for the PS3 and that was their downfall. I'll expect GTA V to be X360 exclusive* aswell, since i'm sure the agreement probably gives microsoft first dibs (since sony seemed to for GTA IV). As for games being on X360 and not PC: Developers choice. Assassins Creed/Assassins Creed II are good examples of hyped games that are infact on PC. It happens. Microsoft don't want to bring games to Windows and see Windows gaming as competition? Somehow while it may have been said the validity of that is questionable, just look at GFWL. Why would they bother with it if they really saw PC as a competition? Short answer: they wouldn't. GFWL doesn't exactly fail, its an extension of Xbox Live, the problem is its still relatively infant, so naturally there isn't going to be much going on with it. Imagine GTA V being PC exclusive? The uproar from the console communities that never had the original on a console would be astronomical. Rockstar make their decisions based on profit, exclusivity agreements expire and eventually its all out on everything. I hate ALL exclusives, it just kills the industry IMO. You should be able to play what you want on the console/PC that you want. Anyway that deserves a whole new topic. Why PS3 won't get the DLCs (in my opinion)? Well simply because Microsoft owns Xbox LIVE and Games for Windows LIVE. Naturally they want to sell on these two platforms, and they want to sell more on the 360 (for some reason TLAD and TBOGT were exclusive for quite some time). PS3, however, is owned by Sony, which is like "enemy number 1" for Microsoft lol. This whole "exclusive deal" might be looked at from various perspectives. Here are four: 1. It's exclusive to Xbox 360 ONLY (not the case - fortunately ). 2. It's exclusive to Microsoft, so that means Xbox 360 and PC (GFWL). Release at the same time. 4. It's exclusive to Microsoft and temporary exclusive for the Xbox 360. Comes later for the PC. 3. It's exclusive to Microsoft for some time, then it might be available to other companies (aka Sony). I honestly think it's the third option. Microsoft has been talking about these episodes for 3 years, they certainly did everything they could to prevent Sony from getting them. Still, we never know what might happen tomorrow on this industry. I've seen quite a few games being "exclusive" for a year or so and then BOOOM, huge shock, the "rival company" announces that same game on their console. Fanboys cry and flamewars take over forums for some days. CrowbarRX: C'mon, an official announcement doesn't hurt, does it? I don't like this "secrecy" thing, looks like the GTA community is a bunch of detectives lol. Why do we have to guess things, look at command lines and similar stuff? Why not say everything clearly from the damn beginning we know about these things? And there's nothing like an official announcement for me. As for IV, the Playstation 3 and X-Box versions came out at the same time-this is the first game that did not hit Playstation first, as ALL the earlier games did(except for Advance-to my knowledge). You want to play a videogame that you know that eventually release on PC. so what do you do, you wait and wait and spend $600 so that you can play it way before the people on PC can. But oh no, the big bad coorporation announced that there will be seperate expansion packs released, for another console! So what do you do, you wait some more and eventually buy the game. By the time the first expansion rolls along you've grown bitter and that leads to:- You bitch and moan at people who were able to put up with all this waiting time and are able to up the resolution, use a keyboard and mouse, even though you can hook those up to your console and what do you get? Let me guess, a big bloated pc-like interface and no pc-like advantages, just the hazy graphics, alot of complaining and distorted controls. But unlike the PC-gamers, you put up with a controller or even the biggest disadvantage, the impossiblity to upgrade and just because it's shiny, doesn't mean it's a decent console, because you can lie around all day as opposed to sitting upright and use a PC like you should because 1) you're on a PC typing this, 2) the whole franchise was built on PC 3) you give your money to the much hated coorparation even though the release gap is soo big because they want stupid people to buy their damn console. Probably with the PC version having most features, as seems commonplace, since i'd gurantee the PC versions are probably created along side the console versions then just sit there waiting for exclusivity to die. Wasn't TLAD released on 17th Feb on Xbox Live - 9 months ago today? If they are waiting for a timed exclusive to expire, I'd expect it to be in a period of full months, anyway. Because that's 1 year. Yay. @CC: Media is just looking at it as last Febuary's game, so it's old news. As the PS3 version hasn't exactly had anything GTA related on it since IV release (PC had mods, thats enough to keep it interesting for us), its a 50/50 chance DLC will come, but having said that... Patch 1.0.0.4 added the achievements for TLaD to the PC version of GTA IV, theres no PS3 patch as yet that adds these achievements or anything indicating any type of DLC. Remember whilst MS has timed exclusivity for the content there is no reason why they can't release it "sooner" on the PC in the hope of deflecting some sales away from the PS3. I would probably say we are looking at December for the PC then if all goes well probably Jan/Feb for the PS3. However the first DLC for the PC will be released this year. Wasn't it "Liberty City is over" though? Liberty City is over there will be no more NEW DLC packages around liberty city which is what that statement was saying. It did not exclude that they would port the existing DLC. In short LC is over for Xbox users but is just starting for PC and PS3 owners. Dependant on whether they can be bothered making it run on PS3 hardware. It wouldn't take much work to get the dlc working on the PS3. Think of the DLC like a word processing document and GTA 4 is the word processor. There is a version of GTA 4 on all three machines so the DLC should be easily portable between the 3 machines with some "minor" changes to it for various machine foibles. At any rate Rockstar are not going to ignore 5-6 million PS3 customers, if they can be bothered to bring the DLC to the "relatively" small PC crowd then it is an absolute certainty they would be prepared to bring it to a customer base nearly 3 times larger no matter what Sony said.
