Alot of people still dont seem to understand its not likely this is going to come out for the PS3. As far as I'm aware, Microsoft still owns the rights to the Episodes and they are the ones who decide if they get ported to PC games for MICROSOFT! Not Sony, or Rockstar but Microsoft

If Microsoft has total control of the rights, why would they allow a PC port? What do they stand to gain from it? If they keep it off the PC, more PC gamers will go out and buy Xboxes... which is what Microsoft wants at the end of the day, so it doesn't make sense that they'd "allow" Rockstar to make a PC port.

What you don't seem to understand is the fact Microsoft does not support the PC as a gaming platform anymore. There is absolutely NO reason for Microsoft to willingly bring this content to the PC. This DLC is one of the biggest feathers in the xbox's cap. It is a matter of fact that Microsoft when it can keeps content off the PC, lesser known titles than GTA such as Fable and Gears are kept off the PC but all of a sudden they are quite happy to let the PC get the DLC !!!!!!!!! seriously you don't think for a second this is a bit iffy ?

Microsoft has very little to gain by releasing this DLC on the PC, the GFWL is practically f*cking dead. If god himself came down dressed in a yellow dot bikini and proclaimed GFWL as truly magical it would still be f*cked. The GTA DLC is not going to save GFWL, I know it, PC gamers know it and Microsoft knows it.

So you have to ask why is Microsoft bothering ? They kept other games off the PC why are they all of a sudden so keen to let the DLC (which they paid a sh*t load for apparently). There is no reason for MS to bring this content to the PC and there is every reason for them to keep it off the PC.

Yet here we are it is almost 99.9% certain the PC is getting the DLC, this can only mean that Microsoft is facing the fact they are going to lose control of the DLC and since they are going to lose control they might as well make a quick buck and force Rockstar to use the GFWL service one last time.

Like it or not MS loaned Rockstar 50 million, in return they got their money back and 1 year exclusivity which is now running out. This content is no longer xbox exclusive, it is making it's way to a competing system (Microsoft considers the PC a competitor). It is just one more small step for the DLC to make it to the PS3 and that will happen sooner rather than later.

Are you guys aware that on the Episodes From Liberty City box that it says at the top "X-Box 360 Exclusive".?

Are you aware that GTA III games were "Only On PS2" in the same exact way? LOL. Dude, the rest of your post all spoilers I'm not looking at that junk, it's concrete now: The episodes are coming to more platformS.

EFLC is NOT dlc - it is a Stand ALONE game. It will be on PS3, and you will get PC DLC/ADD ONS OR a stand alone EFLC because this is still LIVE. GFWL is XBOX LIVE. It's BOTH "LIVE" both of them, stop raining on people and quit denying it - you and thousands of other 360 users were Wrong AGAIN (big surprise there! bored.gif) - accept it. LOL>

I guess MS has determined that those who would get the 360 would have done it already (by now); while the rest of the PC gamers will not budge no matter what tounge2.gif . Thus DLC for PC is to maximize profit with minimum effort.

Well done wink.gif

And, technically, you know, Live is Live whether you're on PC or Xbox, it's still Live. And that's what it's "exclusive" to smile.gif

OK so if MS is releasing it onto the PC now for "maximising profit" and "live is live" how come we never saw Halo 3 ? or fable 2 ? or Gears 2 ? and a whole host of other games MS purposely keeps off the PC. The "maximising profit" argument does NOT wash.

I really cannot believe there are people on this board that think this DLC is going to be 360 and PC only suicidal.gif . At best the PC version sold 2 million, they will be lucky to shift 100,000 copies of the DLC on the PC . However you guys think that Rockstar is quite happy to bring the DLC to the PC and totally ignore the 5 million PS3 owners sarcasm.gif .

This deal made sense when it was 360 exclusive, the deal no longer makes sense now that the content is coming to the PC. Yet still we get "oh well it is a Microsoft platform" get it into your heads Microsoft sees the PC in the same way it sees the PS3 A COMPETITOR.

Chill man confused.gif

Don't get me wrong, nobody like this "exclusive" crap. This kind of "marketing" is evil and selfish.

I think PC gets it first only because it's considered "easier" to port comparing to the PS3. I'm pretty confident that it will come to PS3 soon too.

Rockstar hasn't always supported pc gaming themselves, not so long ago some of their games came out on everything but the pc.

i can still see microsoft benefitting from a pc port of the dlc though, windows OS and GFWL etc, however bad it is!, it wont be free and i dont mind buying it!,

and it doesn't matter what game stays on a console, i won't buy one, im a pc gamer simple as that, always have been always will

I tell you something a hell of a lot more people will buy the DLC on the PS3 than PC gamers will and that is coming from a PC gamer, it is just simple maths there are more copies of GTA 4 on the PS3 than there are on the PC.

I am just curious what other explanation there could be then, the PC version now has access to The Lost and Damned achievements and there is now a NEW command line that "uninstalls GFWL in-game content". So if that isn't proof that the DLC is coming to the PC I don't know what is. I mean sure you could argue that the achievements could be a "glitch" but the fact they actually did a new command to manage the in-game content makes it pretty obvious what is going to happen.

Has there been any official word on whether or not the DLC is a timed exclusive? I understand what you are saying CharmingCharlie but my point is is that as it stands the Episodes are more likely to come out on PC than PS3.

The official word on the DLC is that it is exclusive to the xbox 360 that is the only official word you will get. If you could get in touch with Rockstar right now and asked them they would say "the DLC is exclusive to the xbox 360". If you told them "yeah but what about the PC having the achievements and the new commandline to manage GFWL content" they would still go "the DLC is exclusive to the xbox 360". In sort the "official" line is a load of bullsh*t and I just wish more people would wake up to the fact Rockstar only do TIMED exclusivity for all it's stuff.

As I have already said and shown numerous times Microsoft does not want this DLC on any competing system to the xbox. In Microsofts view the PC is a competing system (they are on record as saying that), the DLC coming to the PC isn't a favour from Microsoft here. After all the DLC is "exclusive to the xbox 360".

I think it's going to be Disc only on the PS3 and DLC or Stand Alone on PC.

It could end up DLC-only on PC, or stand alone-only on PC (which is not probable because the Achievements have been added to GTA IV itself)

Now, speaking of... Those games you mentioned in the beginning of the post are full-fledged titles. These are entire games. IV does not fall into their categories because 1: IV is not an XBox exclusive 2: IV is on the PC. So, it does make sense and wash, really, but there are just so many details to comb over that it is hard to constantly keep an eye on each detail of the picture.

100,000 copies on the PC? Bullocks wink.gif This set of episodes coming to PC will not only boost sales on the original IV PC, it will also immediately sell on steam during weekend games deals and just the low price of $20 per episode or $40 for a stand alone game (I BET steam can only sell the EFLC, while GFWL will be the only one with expansions - howeverrrr Gabe Newell was one of the lead producers of Windows 3.1 through to 98 and he is one of microsoft's first "microsoft millionaires" so there is really no high chance of Steam being out of the MS loop either...)

Now consider it, though. You have this game which does it have more than 100,000 users on PC? I'm not sure, but if it does, it's all thanks to steam, and NOT thanks to refunds though, and NOT thanks to all the negative press it got - it got negative press because they want us to buy XBOX, not because it was true - and Saints Row 2 runs WAY worse than GTA for everyone here, so we can ALL agree that what I just said is true because NO ONE complained about saints row 2 on their News Sites, not to the extent that GTA IV was ridiculed journalistic-ally, you can only read complaints on forums about SR2... GTA IV was attacked... to get us onto consoles, onto the Xbox as the cheaper and more expansive offering.

NO surprise knowing what we know about Gabe Newell releasing Left IV Dead and NO surprise that he is one of the Founding Fathers of Windows. And NO surprise that he hates PS3. And NO surprise that the back of the BLISTA COMPACT in GTA IV says what it says on it... read it... the text on the left side of the back bumper of the Blista Compact.

Is this anger? Absolutely not, step back, and read my post again. I have not really made a point here as much as I have just sprinkled in a whole lot of very important details to consider when you really want to understand the entire thing, especially in regards to GTA IV and cross platform episodes, let alone the whole gaming thing and why PC vs Consoles is how it is.

Those who go look at the back of the blista, those who actually read what I said, those who actually understand that I'm not making a point for or against anything, and those who understand that I could quite possibly be one of the cheerleaders for corporate takeover of the world economy should, in my opinion, be able to take this information and then provide the point to it.

The claims I could make, they just would not sound good coming from me, the same person who provided some details about them, and I catch a lot of hatemail about my "theories" on here lol, so I'd rather you guys take it and make statements, I'll just paint pictures wink.gif

What will really piss people off, is when it does come to PC, we only get it as episodes through GFWL, and when it goes to PS3, they'll get expanded radio stations beyond just vicefm and the EFLC radio replacements or some sh*t, they'll end up with the best EFLC package of all, just because 360 users had so long to brag, and PC users are already playing the game through Live and should expect to only have the live experience (not the EFLC experience) because 1: there are less of us on THIS title so it's not worth spending more than necessary when we already have the delivery platform installed and 2: because they already know that we will be happy with what we have wanted since we all thought TLaD was exclusive to Xbox as a download and before any of us knew about stand-alone EFLC or the achievements confirming this for us unofficially.

Basically, the Sony users who thought most likely they would never ever get to play these without buying an xbox are going to end up, ironically, with the most worthwhile version of these episodes while the Live users (PC and 360) are going to have the first options, 360 having the current EFLC and downloads, and the PC having the downloads that "we thought we wouldn't get anyway".

Does it make sense? It's not like Rockstar to not give something extra with every "re-release"...

People who use Live to get the games get to play them along side their radio stations from GTA IV, people who get the disc on XBox get shorter new radios and Vice FM, people who get it on PC get the episodes that Live users get, and people on the PS3 end up with longer radio stations and a few extra performances (because sony, I'm sure, can supply the talent both music + faces).

And us PC users, we didn't get screwed. In my honest optinion, we got the BEST package because of better graphics potential, independence FM, AND a machinima/video editor animation tool.

What I've said here is pretty solid, unless anyone sees something I might have overlooked when coming to these conclusions assumptions.

I think it's going to be Disc only on the PS3 and DLC or Stand Alone on PC.

Nope the DLC will follow the same pattern that it followed on the 360. Firstly the PC will get TLaD via GFWL then probably this time 2010 we will get TBoGT and it will also come as the EFLC. It will be the same story with the PS3 it will get TLaD first via download from PSN. If I was to guess probably at the start of 2010 and then get TBoGT and EFLC towards the end of 2010.

There are no "tricks" or "loopholes" being applied here by Rockstar this content is TIMED exclusive once Microsofts period of exclusivity is over it's over and Rockstar could distribute the DLC as part of a Kellogs Cornflake promotion if they so wished.

I keep seeing people pull this argument out of the hat "oh the DLC is different" the DLC is NOT different. It is game content that Microsoft apparently paid 50 million for. The games I listed probably didn't cost 50 million altogether to make yet Microsoft is keeping them OFF the PC. There is no commercially viable reason why Microsoft would willing allow the DLC to come to the PC. As I have said Microsoft views the PC as a competitor and where it can will keep game content off the PC to give the xbox 360 a leg up.

Erm no it isn't bollocks you just need to look at sales of the DLC on the xbox 360 to know things haven't been blinding sales wise. I believe GTA 4 on the xbox sold 6 million copies, the first DLC sold just under 2 million copies. That means 4 million GTA 4 owners didn't buy the 1st DLC. A quick bang on the calculator shows us that only 33% of xbox 360 GTA 4 purchasers bought the first DLC.

The PC well let's guesstimate that GTA 4 sold 2 million copies assuming PC gamers bought the DLC at the same rate as the Xbox 360 that would come to 600,000 copies (33% of 2 million). However other factors need to be taken into account. Small factors such as the appalling state of GTA 4 on the PC at launch will discourage many from buying the DLC. The fact the DLC is arriving nearly a year after the console version. The fact the DLC will get NO advertising whatsoever (we will be lucky if we even get an announcement). In short sales of the DLC on the PC will no f*cking way match how well the DLC did on the console.

Not sure where steam fits into all this but there is evidence to suggest Steam will be kept out of the loop altogether. After all steam was kept out of the loop with the fallout 3 dlc even today when you can get the complete version of Fallout 3 (with all the DLC) retail there still isn't a version of it on steam with the DLC. It is very probable steam will be kept out of the loop altogether again because MS sees steam as a COMPETITOR. Have you guys totally forgotten what MS is all about, they don't have tea and sandwiches with competitors they rape them alive.

There's a lot of piracy on the Xbox 360. Not as much as in the PC, true, but you can easily get ALL games for your Xbox DAYS before their official release date. Most times now the 360 version of a certain game appears before the PC version. Oh and btw Microsoft is taking action about this, they have just announced that they will ban about 600.000 accounts for using pirated games. Everyone that tries to connect to LIVE with a modified Xbox 360 will get the account banned.

Why should TLAD be free? That doesn't make sense at all. I wish most DLCs would have the quality that TLAD and TBOGT have! Their price is just right, we get some nice new content. Some DLCs out there just add things that should be already in the game. I will get TLAD as soon as it hits the stores. I want a retail version though, I hate downloading games (legally, of course). I like to have the cases, and DVDs and so on. biggrin.gif

Were you trying to be sarcastic? If not, then please get YOUR facts straight. More and more Xbrick360 users are downloading and using illegal copies of games, which isn't too unpredicted, mainly because the flashing procedure itself isn't as expensive as one original copy of a best-seller... dozingoff.gif

Well I didn't feel we should mention that since the 360 also has an appalling rate of piracy as well so the two cancel each other out.

lol piracy on the xbrox, where do you get your info? Geez, some people.

If TLAD will be free I shall get it, if not, then I shall not. I think this is fair.

Were you trying to be sarcastic? If not, then please get YOUR facts straight. More and more Xbrick360 users are downloading and using illegal copies of games, which isn't too unpredicted, mainly because the flashing procedure itself isn't as expensive as one original copy of a best-seller... dozingoff.gif

if yes
