My performance has dropped aswell, the only solution would be a new patch which will fix this.

You should report it to R*, have them open a case for you I have. They are supposed to be looking in to the cause of my issue which is a bad lag even though I have high Frame Rates. They should be fixing it here soon at this point, I would hope. I went all the way to their level 3 or tier 3, support at this point.

My stuttering is terrible as well. I have 40 FPS with a 3.0 GHz Quad Core but the game stutters every few seconds. Totally unplayable. F*uck!

This patch is good they up my FPS to... 25 (lol)

But i dont rally understand this FPS thing... my pc says 25 but look´s like 50 or 60....

I found out what was causing the stutters. I know it is good practice to install the update, not from within the game, but as a separate install. Having got away with ingame updates in the past, I installed this one so also. Anyway, in the case of this update, it needed installing ex game to work properly. Now I get a performance boost, running very well indeed.

I have done my updates outside of the game and inside as well and still get the stutter.. Interesting find though, glad to hear that helped you out. I think my issue is different then yours, go figure...

I have now indoor rain at algonquin Safehouses (playboyX one and that hotel where u have laptop to access internet) maybe in others too, just didnt spoted it yet.

 

And i have now very weird sort of displacement of ligthing on many surfaces like roads, grass, walls, roofs (and corners between them).

 

This displament is veird thing, surface itself looks normal, but Light and Shadows casted on that surfaces looks wrong, displaced and with different color\brigntness.

 

And when u rotate camera its looks liks shadow and light are too much over that surface.

 

This have been reported before as "EDGE of shadows" but its not only shadow.

 

I call that whole bug an "overlay surfaces"

 

These surfaces, if they have some yellow or white stripts (mostly roads) they shows thru Niko's feets, thru Car's Wheels an even thur cars on some distance and angles.

 

So this surface kinda show itself over real objects and makes these objects that cross that surface tranparent in cross point.

Another new bug IS driver shadow, when its 20:00 hours dinamyc shadows of Cars and Bike get turned off (which is ugly by design) but shadow of any Character insed car ramains and gives very odd effect.

 

Best solution - keep dinamyc shadows of cars turned on at night time so that will looks like during day light (cheap solution like turn off player shadow ad 20:00 isnt acceptable and as far as practice show - such solution made by Toronto could lead to bug like totaly vanished shadows of all pedistrians and players during night)

 

 

One more bug - reflections on water - it shows wrong geometry of inside out of vehicle, and reflection in mirrors - they look like with very high brigness and low contrast, so niko is almost white and not washed out in playboy x mansion mirror as well as interior (same at strip bar, u can barely see that reflection) . Im not sure if this bug generic, it could be only ATI_DX10 specific since i use ATI RADEON HD 4890 1gb and its uses this shader path.

 

And lats one i noticed - "Dancing" "Vanishing" lights during "drunk mode" (i mean when niko get drunk, not during drunk camera anti pirate trigger).

 

So when camera is shaking, all the lights on streets (buildng and road) are flashing, and when u rotate camera they appear and dissapear randomly. Afrer drunk mode is over, and niko is clear, this effect remains until restart of game.

Again this could be ATI-DX10 specific.

 

These are really annoying bugs and should be FIXED ASAP BY ROCKSTAR

Another little irritating thing is that when you start the game, when you first move your mouse around real fast even if you have the definition option turned off it looks like it is on because everything blurs. You do it again after that and it doesn't do it any more...

This patch has slowed my performance....from 40-50 fps with the last patch...now i get 25-42...and when it rains the frames drops to 20fps...R* are incompetents...end of story.

As much as i love this game i wont buy the next title...R* losed me as a customer.

This patch killed MP for me. I can't connect to ANY hosts, I always get "Connection to Games for Window - LIVE has been lost". I have no firewall and it worked before patch. Any ideas?

Well i started noticing the glitches, the car shadows pretty much disappearing and nikos shadow outside the car, some places in the road "floating" above everything else and going through tires/ people walking, Im going back to the patch that "worked" 1.0.4.0, Tried to just install it over what was there and all the menu's vanished. So im reinstalling the game... again. and then installing 1.0.4.0.. Good job rock*

Exact same thing happened to me, im staying with patch 1.0.4.0 until they get a 6th one out.

Exact same thing happened to me, im staying with patch 1.0.4.0 until they get a 6th one out.

Yep I'm still on 1.0.4.0 and I'll stick with it till theres a new patch or the '5th patch' is supported by .NET scripthook.

Noticeable performance improvement, game seems to run more 'stable' (on Vista X64 coreI7),nothing spectacular but still better than nothing.

I hope they fix the graphical glitches people are rightfully complaining about and further improve performance for both low and high spec computers in the next patch.

video drivers are the best for ati?

I think that gta4 run better on windows7 than xp3

 

About 1.0.0.4 this patch have little more optimization when is rain,sunset,sunrise, but this almost not feel

the newest drivers are always best, as for the game play. I did notice a slight improvement on the gameplay. but that came with extra added glitches, not worth it if you ask me.

I hate to quote myself but am I the only one with this problem?

 

Everything worked fine before patch 5. I've opened all possible ports for GFWL and IV, disabled every possible firewall or antivirus and I still get that.

I installed the filecheckfix and suprisingly, it worked! I think it's because I had a foliage quality mod.

If I remember correctly, they said something about the final patch being gold or something along those lines. Lets hope A few more come out that actually is worth downloading.

I really hope this is not the last patch. because they still have not gotten it right.

I started to notice rather big problems with this patch now.

 

1)no on screen instruction dialog show up even when I get mission from someone,

2)when I kill pigeons I no longer been told how many are left,

3)after Nico go out with friends, their approval rating go up but only thumbs-up icon shows up with no name on it

 

So basically I seem to have lost all critical info dialog/text from the game. Does anyone happen to know how to fix this problem? I have 2 GTA4 installs on different computers with this patch applied, but both acts exactly the same way. I'm still using old save files, is this the cause of the problem?

Yup, out of all the patches.... this one is the worst.. It improved the performance the best, but everything else just outweighs that.
