I think Argentina might just edge it

No chance. Unless Maradona cheats again. Messi and Tevez may end up sparkling but I just don't see it happening.

My head says Spain (good god I hope we see Spain vs. Brazil at some point) but obviously I want Captain Rio to lift that trophy come July 11.

England all the way.

Germany did very similar in qualifying for the 02 tournament and therefore given a good run and some luck something good could happen for Argentina with the stars that they have. I certainly wouldn't rule them out.

I was gutted the year sticker packs went up to 30p, no longer could you buy 4 packs for a pound sad.gif.

I haven't even seen the Premier League sticker books/packs on sale anywhere, do they still do them? Wouldn't be surprised if it was 50p a pack now.

Italy is definitely going to repeat as champions of the world in footy.

Definitely not. I think Spain is going to win it. England will be strong, too.

I'm afraid Germany can't do much this year. So many injured players.

48 days to go...

Can never write of the German's though, they seem to be a dark horse each year and do pretty well, a final and a semi final in the last two events is it?

That's right but it seems that it'll be a bad year for the German national team.

1. We have some important players who are injured

2. Half of the players can't participate in pre-world-cup-practice due to Champions League (if Bayern reach the final), German Cup final (Bayern vs. Bremen) and Europa League final (if Hamburg goes through).

Then there is Kevin Kuranyi, who plays an outstanding season this year but who was banned from the national team by Jogi Löw. Now everyone argues if he should play the World Cup or not.

So, if i should describe the situation right now, it's pure chaos.

But we'll see...

Well thats your opinion but I feel Italy is the team to beat. Spain is the defending champions of Europe, so I could see how they could be a favourite. Italy is still the defending champions of the world and I feel they'll be going into this tournament as the team to knock off. Every team in their group will play them tough. I can see Italy being a team everyone that isn't Italian will cheering to lose because of the last WC. We'll wait and see should be a great summer regardless.

In contrast though, Italy had a sh*t Euro 2008, but with the re-instatement of Marcello Lippi (one of the best managers across Europe) I wouldn't be surprised if they do go on to do well. I do think that Spain and Brazil have been in much better form, but when it comes to the World Cup, anything is possible with the big teams.

I'm just hoping that Serbia don't crash and burn as they did four years ago. I'd love to get one over the Aussies as well so that I can give everyone sh*t at school. tounge.gif But I'll be rooting for Australia as well, of course... I just want Serbia to do better. wink.gif

Italy are far too old to win the world cup, half their players were over 35 last time so god knows what their average age is this time around. If Italy win the world cup I will leave the forums. And taht is a promise.

Yeah well, if you follow Serie A you would know five of the top six goal scorers in the league are Italian. Lippi is bound to have good talent to work with, its Italy we are talking here. I don't care who they field, Lippi has made some controversial decisions in previous years at the wold cup. No matter what though they're always going to be looked upon as a giant in the world of footy. Every team has its depth but no team is quiet like the Italians. They've proved they can play on the big stage, they have won on the big stage. I don't know what else they could do to prove others wrong. But a solid performance at this years will cup will definitely turn heads.

I'm going to hold you to what you said Nerner trust me on that. Then again I don't care what you did after Italy wins the cup this summer because I'll be too busy celebrating my ass off. Maybe blast myself into space or some sh*t.

I dont say Italy has a bad team. I just say that there are better teams in this years world cup. Wouldnt surprise me if Italy reaches the quarter-finals. But then they will face teams like England, Spain, Brazil, Argentina for example and that will be it imho. IF Italy wins it again this year, I'm fine with that. And I wont leave the forums tounge.gif

We cant do anything but wait.

Btw, i think Ivory Coast and the US will surprise us this year (in a positive way).

If Italy win the world cup I would just be very surprised. I feel that you are looking at this whole scene through rose-tinted glasses so to speak.

3/5 top scorers in the prem are English. It is the same in Portugal. Not quite sure about your point really. He isn't going to take a team of strikers...
