chasez
edit the handling, that's all what you can do. But all the converters should fix it in Zmodeler

It is the car itself Oh, yes it has! In the handling.dat file you have to change the center of the mass of the car to make the car not to flip over. Rob.Zombie
Yes you can fix it with a handling line. It can be fixed by editing the model in zmodeler, but you'll get an even worse camera position...
Phantom Mark
So clever me thinks, so I will just import the model into ZM2 as I have a registered copy etc............with a view to fixing a couple of cars which are falling over in corners, Audi A8 and Merc W220 ......and of course both files are bloody locked, so as the handling line will not fix these cars, and the files are locked the cars are nice static eye candy sadly

Phantom Mark
I was a heavy contributor of mods and convertions in the past with other games, I realise that sometimes you can miss silly little things like that under the pressure of expectation/reputation..........I soon learnt never to announce that anything was WIP so I had no pressure to do anything quickly !!! Would love to fix these cars but can't, maybe the original author will come back to them some time and fix the problems ?
Phantom Mark
I have fixed the issues of cars flipping over with a simple handling line mod........thanks for all the help guys. Anybody else who struggles with this one feel free to drop me a PM< I will release some fixes for some of the worse offenders which have been released with these problems shortly. NlCK
I am also getting this problem with one car in particular. I have other modded cars that handle fine. I have tried changing the handling.dat file for the flipping car by copying and pasting the numbers from a car that I know handles well and this does NOT solve the problem. So this leads me to believe that this problem has nothing to do with the handling.dat file. A solution to this problem would be greatly appreciated. Phantom Mark
And that is where you would be wrong my friend sorry The centre of gravity on your problem car is too high because the model has not been aligned on its centre axis properly, simple adding the handling line from a car with a correctly set COG will not fix the problem. Any problems send me the car details and I will fix it for you if you like, no problemo.
NlCK
Like I said, the problem is not caused by the handling.dat file, how is that statement wrong? Unless the centre axis alignment has anything to do with Handling.dat, does it? If the COG for this model needs to be changed, how is it done? Thanks for your reply
Phantom Mark
Will install it here tonight and have a crack at fixing it for you mate, will post the sollution for you as well.
RotaryKnight
I had the same problem happened to me. It seems that whoever modeled the car put the axis wrong or something along that line. I just readjusted the axis to a point where the car doesnt flip over and it works.
Phantom Mark
thats the one mate, but of course some lack the ability to import the model(because the models are locked) and then re-export it, so the easier sollution which works just fine is to adjust the handling line... Move the COG to -0.45 for a start, that has fixed all the worst cars I have tried so far, for example the Audi A8, Audi A4, once you have the car stable raise that number until you find the point where the cars starts to flip, then drop it back down a few to finalise etc. Can you send me the link to the problem car via PM please Nick ??? Seems a mod has removed it for some bizzare reason..... I was pretty sure you posted a link to the Golf Tuning ?? I tried that on my computer last night with an adjusted Handling line and it worked perfectly no problems here mate. Want to be sure I got the right car tho ?? wesley123
Really, the fixes you are making are simply useless, why? Let me explain, modders add a read me to their mod so it tells you how to install and it also features a handling line wich stops them from flipping over so your fixes are completely useless as the Topic Starter simply didnt took time to read the read me and then understand that the handling line isnt in there for nothing. Phantom Mark
The conversation has progressed slightly since the topic starters intial post, thus the points made in this thread since are very valid. I installed a couple of cars along with the "readme" handling lines and they still flipped over......hence these posts above show other people how to deal with that in case it happens again. wesley123
well, after i install carmods as told in the readme i never had any flipped car anymore, most of the cars who can experience such things have an extra vehicles.ide line with them, after i installed both i havent had any flips anymore. Phantom Mark
Sure but the point of debate at the moment is whether or not a handling line fix for COG will or wont fix a flipping car. I think we all agree that the flipping cars problem is caused by the model not being setup correctly in Zmodeler etc, the author would then normally "patch/hide" that issue by supplying a handling line fix. In the event that the car still flips over (and assuming you actually have a handling.dat which is moddable) you can at least fix the car yourself without having to worry about importing a locked model etc......thats the important bit. I think the problem is double edged because some people do not fully understand the process to make the handling.dat moddable properly, hence their pasted lines are not working as expected. NlCK
Wesley, sorry but you are wrong. I have always looked at the readme for every car I have put into GTA IV and copied the handling.dat lines (and the other lines) exactly from the readme. I downloaded a current model Volkswagen Golf R32, copied the handling.dat lines exactly from the readme but this car still flipped around corners. Another problem I noticed while playing around with the handling.dat file was that it did not actually change the handling of the car! So after looking on these forums I found this thread http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=429795 where someone said to delete the file filelist.pak from the PC/Data folder. This worked for me and made changes to the handling.dat file work successfully. What it also did was fix some of my cars from flipping around corners. However, it did not fix the problem for my VW Golf R32. So I suggest that if you have some cars that flip, try this and see if it works for you! Phantom Mark
Fixing for you now Nick, will send the details for you in a while mate
Phantom Mark
Well I checked out that car for you Nick, no problems here at all, used the one you sent via the PM link. Are you absolutely certain you have your handling dat working properly mate ??
NlCK
Yeah you were right the car is ok. I have it handling just fine now. People if you get this problem you need to check 2 things: 1. Make sure you have copied the handling lines from the readme you downloaded with your car. If there are none in the readme just keep it standard and it should be alright. 2. Make sure you have deleted filelist.pak because if you don't, any changes to the handling.dat folder will do nothing! Thanks a lot Phantom Mark for your help. XxXbLaCk0uT
Im unable to run the game (game crash while loading) if I delete filelist.pak. Any suggestions?
