Ash_735
Ok, so let's pretend there's someone reading this who is incharge of this aspect in the next game. How should it be? From the comments here it seems the first playthrough should only include a short musical cue to signal the end of a mission and an autosave. Then, once the game is complete you can choose to replay missions either via the phone or through the pause menu. These replays would include [suggested] challenges for you to complete. There should be some way of reminding us what the mission entailed (picture or synopsis) and it should include all cutscenes, though these should be skippable. You should be able to see the challenges' targets and current score before replaying the mission. Right so far? I sense some people do not want this included in the standard 100% completion or required for achievements. I'm not sure about that, but if that's the case then are these replays the reward for achieving 100% or do these come in as soon as the story is completed? If it goes - STORY -> 100% -> Challenges is there an in-game reward for completing the challenges? Maybe this could be something like an Avatar reward or the PS3/PC equivelant. Lastly, we sure have a few "glass half empty" people on these forums. Lots of people saying the score is there to show how "sh*t" you are". No-one think it's there to show how "good" you are? I agree with your idea, that's how it should of been, and the reason people are saying it shows how sh*t they are is because this is our first time doing the missions, so we're happy enough just passing them without being told we didn't meet targets, we'll view How Good We Are when we finish the storyline and actually go back for the challenge! That's all, that is the only thing wrong, is that it's turned on during the first playthrough of the actual storyline.
II Goonah II
Yeah I think the mission rating is terrible, shouldn't be carried on.
Guanxi
If you take a taxi and trip skip at the beginning of a mission then it doesn't record the mission stats & you don't get that iritating stats screen popping up at the end of a mission. I've been getting 62 almost every time on my first play-through - it never records any of my head-shots and I'm always too slow. My base-jumping accuracy is always either above 80% or between 1-3%. It adds to replay value greatly I think but it would be nice if it was unlockable upon completing the main story when you unlock the ability to replay them. LostSoul 301281
I really do not like the addition of this scoring system. It some how cheapens the missions, making you rush them just so you can get closer to that perfect 100% score. I like to take my time with missions and go through them how I want to. With this scoring system it's almost telling you how to play it. Get so many headshots, finish is this amount of time, etc. Sure, I don't have to rush through, but seeing that score at the end is like the game telling you, you didn't do well enough. I sincerely hope that the next GTA game does not have this feature. One last thing. Am I the only one that was disappointed that the police stinger was not used at all, and was not even available in single player?
OGLuke
lol it's not like your playing the club Horrible game! % You don't have to rush through you can play how you like, and who cares if you don't score 100%? It's not like you get anything special for it. Another thing R* lied about.
Dvt-MedShot
Yeah you rush the missions so you miss some conversations and stuff... I also thought about this and I think that they should remove the time target.
AZAZEL
What's keeping you from ignoring the scores, at least the first time around? The game isn't forcing you to do anything, it is offering you to replay the missions if you like, and if you want to go for 100%, you can kick it up a notch and try completing the missions on the criterias Rockstar set. Is common sense now so rare, that we should call it something else?
archiebunker
You're not SUPPOSED to get 100% in your first run-through. Those extra mission challenges are for replaying; having something new to shoot for once you've beaten the game and are already familiar with the missions. Some of you guys have a very fragile self-esteem. Edited November 5, 2009 by archiebunker
Trepsik
do what i did. play through the game normally not caring about scoring then play the missions later goin for the 100%. it's not like you need to hear the dialogue everytime your tryin to rush through it. although hearing luis call morie an orange midget will never get old

I missed landing in the back on timurs truck in (dropping in) and he still picked me up, and i still scored 100% again.
LostSoul 301281
I guess you're right about the scores being for the whole replay thing at the end. I would be better though if you just didn't see the scores first time around. Basically, you don't see any scores until you start using the replay option at the end of the story. That would be a little better.
FearTheLiving
The real thing that sucks about replay missions is that if they ever want to do a choice system like GTA IV we can't really replay all of them without messing with our choices. urban_legend_18
i think the real annoying thing with the mission replay is that you dont see the cutscenes at the start of the mission, i dont mind the scoring system it gives you a challenge which is a good thing. Well, there's two ways they could resolve that. Don't have missions where you have to make a choice, or don't include those types of missions in the replay. Magic_Al
People don't like seeing a low score when they pass a mission the first time in the story. The replay feature is good but I think the scoring screen should only come up when you do replays. Topic should probably merge with this topic. CarpetDweller
This was also discussed here: Link As for the inconsistances of replaying missions that had choices of multiple outcomes, I don't see a problem. You're already killing people or blowing things up for a second time, so surely no-one considers these part of the set story within your game. This lets you play the same mission and choose another outcome to see how that plays out within the mission. But it wouldn't affect the previous choices you made within this save file. In order to have lasting changes after missions where choices are involved you should play these in order through normal story mode.

LostSoul 301281
I didn't know about this thread when I started a similar one(with the score thing in the title). I really don't like the scoring thing either. It made you want to rush through the mission, and do things that R* want you to do, rather than play the missions how you want to. I really hope the next GTA doesn't have a scoring system, or at the very least if it does, you only get scored on replay missions at the end of the story. Edit: I didn't realize that the threads had already been merged. Didn't know that could actually be done.

Nightwing 0613
Bro, you people are complaining for the most stupidest reasons. Take your time and go through the missions on your first playthrough. Later on when you finish the campaign, you will have the options to re-play the missions as many times as you want so you can rush through them and get better ratings. Ash_735
All in all at least this feedback should be given to Rockstar, they've tried something new and we've gave our ideas on a solution we largely agree on, apart from a few people here who are like "R* ARE GREAT JUST IGNORE IT LOSERS IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT!" which I find funny as it comes up after EVERY mission, also, to the guy who said using a Taxi doesn't make it appear, It STILL does for me, I then get an EXTRA screen telling me not to use Taxi's if I want to get an impressive score. GTA_dog
Who's complaining? I'm not, it just takes away from what the game is really meant to be played. Everyone who is complaining can call R* sobbing and saying how the game is sh*t because this small thing.
