Based on all the comments so far, I think the best compromise would be no "sh*t rainbow" during the first playthrough when people are trying to enjoy the story and maybe even role-playing. It's a buzzkill.

The "sh*t rainbow" should only come up on mission replays when, obviously because you're playing out of order and without cutscenes, you feel like executing competitively.

I passed "I Luv LC" with a 0%.

I didn't even know that was possible notify.gif

EDIT: @ Magic Al: Yeah, that actually makes a lot of sense. That way first time players wont feel like they suck.

I get what people mean though, this should be optional, the replay side should be a bonus for finishing the story and the score should be an additional option. Playing this for the first time, I'm enjoying just finishing the damn missions, it kind of puts a downer on you by going Oh yeah, you finished, BUT YOU'RE sh*t, you didn't do it fast enough, or, you wasted too many bullets, etc. For first time playing it kind of sucks the fun out of it, you no longer feel proud for just beating the mission because now the game tells you that you've done it all wrong.

It IS optional. WTF are you talking about?

I like the mission scores, it adds more challenge to the game.

You don't HAVE to do them, just like you don't HAVE to do achievements, its all for challenge and fun.

The only problem I have with replaying missions is that it doesn't show the cutscenes, it just goes straight to the mission sad.gif

You idiots act as if RockStar is putting up a camera and showing a live stream of them laughing at your horrid skills. It's a percentage. It has requirements. It's replay value.

I'm glad RockStar ignores there so called "fans" for the most part, because if you dumbasses had it your way it would be a boring ass game if there ever was one. Cry me a f*cking river.

Booohooo, I don't want something to come up and show me a percentage. You babies act as if this prohibits you from doing something. It just adds awesome replayability to an already extremely replayable game. I had a LOT of fun going back and 100%ing the missions.

You guys act as if they expect you to meet all the requirements at once. Or even at all. It isn't required.

It's there for you to say "OK I'm going to rush through this time and beat the clock" then it adds to the percentage, "Now I'm going to take my time and go for the health and accuracy objectives" and then it adds that to your percentage. Then when you finish all of the objectives through all of your run-throughs, it will always say 100%, because you met every requirement.

This is my favorite part of the DLC and makes it so much fun to replay.

For example, I have just passed "Momma's Boy". I have got the time, crowd involvement, and counter finish done but not player damage. So when I replay it later after the Main Story missions all I need to do is get the player damage requirement and I get 100% Score on it? Am I correct?

"One day I will think of this as just another job. After all, this is what I do."

rainbow was no big deal...it was the clicking A to see the targets and B to exit.

like someone else already said, it killed the flow.

if they just showed the rainbow/stats for each mission quickly...then it disappears on its own...that would rule.

Good. This makes things easier as I begin writing my guide for TBoGT for GameFAQs. I thought that you had to do everything at once and that was pissing me off.

the score rating is bs! it takes the fun out of the missions because everbody likes to beat the mission their own way.

i like rockstar but they really do think of the dumbest ideas!

i mean a damn internet in the game ? (omg! the most worthless feature ever!, i never even go into the internet place..they could had got rid of that and used the space to let us get them gloves lol yes i went there! biggrin.gif)

maybe it's all just a laugh to them but i don't see the point in things.

like the tv! i like the shows but i can't see anything! there is no option to zoom into the screen.

You can still beat them your own way though. The ratings are simply there if you want to try, and get 100% on that mission. If you don't care about it then you can go about your business.

It's really not that much different to alot of FPSs that have a set of goals to do, but the difference in TBOGT even if you get a crap score you can go do something else. It's entirely optional.

As for the internet it's just another way of R* expressing their humour. IMO it's one of the best features in all 3 games.

Well, now, you could have specified you meant Game ratings Per Mission that BoGT has, versus any other number of things falling under the title heading.

But, hey, I see your point, I chalk it up without much thought to the intended use of the DLC in question, where playability is really being addressed. I seriously doubt it becomes a main GTA element in the future, and if so, should be hidden at best, not prominent on the screen, perhaps in the Stats menu

i love the replay feature - saves me having to waiste game save slots to do missions again - like i had to with GTA 4 just to play 4 leaf clover mission again.

A welcome addition in my book - just wish they could have done one for L&D too on the EFLC disk.

Even a crappy list with mission titles to select from would have been good enough !!!

I think the replay idea is great. Its something i have been personally been wanting for quite some time.

As for mission percentages.... I can kind of see where someone might find this distracting. I'm not personally bothered by it... i find it interesting to see how i stack up with how R* thinks i should (to achieve 100%). There were a couple of things that came to mind while i was reading this thread

The whole completion screen could be something that is optional. Like it is always running in the background keeping that data but for it to pop up after a mission you would need to turn that option on in the in game menu.

Secondly what about having it as something that occurs after you complete the game. This way it sort of works for everyone. After you complete the game its an optional thing to replay the missions for scores.

But overall i really like both additions. To me it adds replay value. I already knew i typically wouldnt score high because of my unorthodox approaches to missions. I'm fine with that. It doesnt make me feel any less about the DLC that i love

You share game save slots with the Episodes disc, which took me back a bit, but I am just using a 256MB card for this one, rather then the HDD

The ability to replay missions can only be a good thing. The ratings only give the player an incentive to do so, beyond just doing it for fun. I don't mind the pop up after mission completion but I can understand how it might detract from the story for some.

A gripe I have is that when you select a mission from your phone to replay you only have the mission title and the percentage you achieved to go by. I would prefer it if, upon highlighting a mission on your phone, it brought up onto the main screen an information box giving you a brief synopsis of the mission and the scores you need to achieve 100% in that mission. The scores would also pop up after completing a replay of a mission but not while playing through the main story.

The replay-system took away all the fun of playin through story again. But think its needed to go for 100%. Maybe best example: "BLOG THIS...", near impossible to get the time without car damage. And for the cutscenes I can watch one of the walkthroughs on youtube.

Bingo, that's all, yes we know it's optional but having it on during the first playthrough is retarded because obviously we're going to be bad because we don't know how to do the damn missions. First playthrough they should leave it off so we can do our usual GTA way things and not get told we suck, then have it on for Mission Replays.

I don't know why people are arguing against that as we all get what we want that way??

Ok, so let's pretend there's someone reading this who is incharge of this aspect in the next game. How should it be?

From the comments here it seems the first playthrough should only include a short musical cue to signal the end of a mission and an autosave. Then, once the game is complete you can choose to replay missions either via the phone or through the pause menu. These replays would include [suggested] challenges for you to complete. There should be some way of reminding us what the mission entailed (picture or synopsis) and it should include all cutscenes, though these should be skippable. You should be able to see the challenges' targets and current score before replaying the mission. Right so far?

I sense some people do not want this included in the standard 100% completion or required for achievements. I'm not sure about that, but if that's the case then are these replays the reward for achieving 100% or do these come in as soon as the story is completed?

If it goes - STORY -> 100% -> Challenges is there an in-game reward for completing the challenges? Maybe this could be something like an Avatar reward or the PS3/PC equivelant.

Lastly, we sure have a few "glass half empty" people on these forums. Lots of people saying the score is there to show how "sh*t" you are". No-one think it's there to show how "good" you are?

If you dont like the ratings thing then ignore it O_o, I dont think its the best idea either cause I like to play through the mission and take my time, only to find out I did it 2 or 3 minutes too slow, but you need to get over 80% on all for 100% gameplay I think.
