As you are probably aware, there have been many memorable characters in the Grand Theft Auto series. But, personally speaking, I find the most interesting characters to be the unhinged denizens of the various cities we explore. They're not involved in conventional aspects of crime like drug dealing or murder-for-hire, but their warped personalities have put them on the wrong side of the tracks.

It's what has made these games so authentic, in any city or town you will find people just as mental as Eddie and his bag of human heads or Margot and her fixation on poor Mr. Lopez.

So, in terms of craziness, who do you find most bizarre and downright odd? For the sake of an original discussion, I would prefer to omit crime bosses. I don’t want a whole thread of people saying how crazy Asuka or Bulgarin are.

Hopefully this is in the right area, as it spans most of the games rather than one in particular.

Catalina is a conventional criminal and so not really suitable material for the poll.

Eddie Low is definitely one of the craziest, weirdest characters I've seen in any GTA. Before I came across him, I always thought either Marty Chonks or the Love Fist stalker were the craziest.

 

Jeff comes in close second with Eddie. Both of them seem to be like characters out of something like Manhunt.

Eddie Low, for sure. I was actually disturbed by him. Believe me, that is one hard thing to do! I could quite happily watch people be disemboweled and die in pain and I could quite happily watch kiddie porn without being too freaked out (infact, maybe not...), but listening to this guy actually talk about these kind of things and genuinly enjoy them just creeped me the f*ck out! It was like listening to a 10 year old get excited about Pokemon cards.

My f*cking point is that a person who has done missions for Catalina in SA would not call here a "conventional criminal". Unless that person has very wrong idea about what criminals are normally like, in which case, I just don't want to even know.

But she is a conventional criminal. She's just a damn robber, that's all. Sure, she's into S&M and is very homocidal and treacherous, but still just a common crook.

It certainly prevents her from being on this poll. Because if I include her I'd have to include Diaz and El Burro and Donald Love. The point is to discuss the smaller characters who are not part of the main story and not really criminals by trade.

I thought the whole reason behind her crimes was because of her step-father? She had a grudge against men and that's what set everything off. I never took her for a maniac. I don't think maniacs or psychotics are capable of planning. Which she was, to an extent.

Oh, and as for the stalking thing. I don't think he knew he was stalking them. He was so deluded that he thought it was all a way for them to be "friends". Hell, the dress he was wearing is a pretty sure sign of a mental imbalance.

That's what I mean, people so wacked out they may not even realise that what they're doing is wrong.

Definitely Eddie. He's a bisexual, necrophiliac serial killer. Now, being bisexual does not concern me, but the necrophiliac serial killer does. He is deranged. If anyone hasn't seen them, look at his BlogSnobs and MyRoomOnline pages.

 

Marty Chonks is messed up, but he never struck me as that wrong in the head. Just an evil bastard.

 

Haven't played VC much to due the fact my comp has serious probs when playing it, but, meh.

 

Jeff is just sad, paranoid and desperate.

 

Margot is obsessive and deluded.

 

While all have mental problems, none are as messed up or dangerous as Eddie.

Ah, but organised serial killers are not psychopaths. They're legally sane. Disorganised serial killers, like Eddie Low, do not plan. They don't cover up their crimes and act according to an immediate desire to murder someone. It eats away at them, night and day, until they just need to release the pressure.

Another vote for Eddie.

 

When you first meet him you think he's just a normal dude, but as you start talking to him he's anything but.

 

His character reminds me of someone that you would see in Manhunt. Crazy doesn't even describe him. A f***ing lunatic that should've been institutionalized might be more appropriate.

 

As sick, and twisted as he was he was actually one of my favourite characters in GTA IV. Hell the GTA series in general. smile.gif
