100% on missions WITHOUT auto-aim?

So, how many people have gotten 100% ranks on missions without the use of auto-aim?

I've been trying Practice Swing for hours now, and always fall short on time (and sometimes accuracy) because of having to get headshots. It seems like they tailored requirements towards the assumption of auto-aim use, leaving an extremely difficult target, time-wise, for people who don't use it.

Console joypads aren't designed for free aiming, and I don't see the point of releasing FPS games for consoles. Why not try getting 100% while blindfolded instead?

So, just because it's not as optimal as it could be, I should just suck it up and use auto-aim?

Yeah, not everyone plays like how your post would lead me to assume you do. I've more than made do with free aim up until now, but it's hard when the requirements assume you use a feature which essentially guarantees instant death to anything that you lock onto.

Why not try posting something that isn't pretentious?

I've been interested in the same thing. You're totally right, OP, it is all designed around auto-aim, which given I have been using free-aim for the whole of BoGT without issue.. must be incredibly easy.

LOL at people thinking that they are hard because they choose not to use a feature that has been a staple in the GTA series for 9 years.

If you're using free-aim, don't whine about R* designing the challenges with the other 99% of players in mind, and not just catering to the dumbasses that disable a feature that the game was built around.

erm, maybe because millions of people enjoy them. Maybe because they make their develops healthy revenue.

Just because you can't play FPS on consoles (which i'm assuming from your idiotic post) doesn't mean that no one else can. As a matter of fact there are loads of people that prefer console control pads to the standard keyboard and mouse PC control system

Yeah, great logic. suicidal.gif

Anyone complaining that consoles shouldn't have FPS games and manual aiming because it isn't precise as a mouse can stick with their PC gaming and shut the f*ck up. Thankfully, everyone else has the choice between using auto-aim or manual aim, based on their own personal preference.

Anywho, while the 100% requirements are so strict that you have to use auto-aim kind of sucks for those that use manual-aim, but it is understandable. As I see it, using auto-aim in singleplayer makes the game boring because it makes shooting enemies so easy. But, when I play multiplayer, I turn auto-aim on because it makes shooting enemies so easy. They made the 100% requirement tough enough so the extra edge like auto-aim is favorable.

So, I suppose I will just turn it on when I'm trying to 100% missions, and turn it off when I'm done.

Why don't you weirdos just hold the trigger half-way to free-aim. You know you can do that right. Then there is no switching back and forth.

I couldnt play a FPS on a PC, it'd feel too clunky, where as when you have a gamepad in your hands, you feel in control

On the topic of Free aim in GTA IV, I hate it so much, because

1. It doesnt allow you to shoot objects

2. It ALWAYS aims at the wrong person

3. It's just better with free aim

It was a staple in the series because the combat system before 4 was unrefined and poor. 4's improved it enough auto-aim is no longer a necessity to actually not get destroyed in a major gunfight. Anyone who needs auto-aim in 4 sucks, plain and simple. And I don't mean that as an insult, but the system is more than playable in free-aim. I don't much care if auto-aim exists or if people use it, but the game would be perfectly playable even if it didn't exist. That the game is built around auto-aim is something I'd have to argue.

And it's quite simple to accomodate BOTH auto-aim and free-aim players. Two sets of requirements: one for a mission that has been done completely in free-aim (fewer headshots, more time alloted), and one that is used if auto-aim was turned on at any point in the mission (the existing requirements).

Ta-da, everyone is happy, both those who choose free-aim, and those who need the crutch that is auto-aim.

Because I prefer manual aim over auto aim, to the point that I never want to mess with it in singleplayer. I made "personal preference" bold in my first post in hopes that people would see it and realize that arguing over personal preference is pointless. You call me a weirdo, I'll call you dense.

Because not everyone relishes the thought of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome because they spend all their time playing PC FPS games. Why do you even care? It's not like console gamers are any threat to you in any way.

it's not a crutch, it's part of the game. It's the way you're supposed to do it or else they wouldn't make it default and have it in ALL of their games

I don't really care, either way is great for me.

I just can't stand all the people that think they're badass professional gamers just because they play with AA off.

I don't think of myself like that, I play with it off because auto-aim feels clunky and less than optimal, and the combat system in GTA4 is more than adequate for free aiming. It makes missions take longer, but it seems more fun to me, and I quite enjoy the additional sense of control it gives me over my environment, knowing I can aim wherever and at whatever I want at any time without it overriding it to aim at an enemy.

The only time I REALLY hate auto-aim is online, but even there you can set your preference to "no," so you'll never get stuck in an auto-aim match, so that's a non-issue for me.

But really (this is to Slomojoe), auto-aim IS a crutch. The game is more than playable without it. It is unnecessary, and makes things much easier. That doesn't make it a bad thing, and I don't think less of anyone for using it (you gotta play however you enjoy it most, or it becomes pointless).

I just take offense when people tell me to give up my playing style for some reason, and especially when they do it with an air of pretentiousness, like Azazel and others did. It's the same as people who either A: suggest cheats to me when I ask how to do something WITHOUT cheats (such as getting a cheat-free Annihilator in TLAD), or B: people who jump on others who admit they cheat with rabid anti-cheating spiels.

I wasn't directing my statement at all AA off users, just the people that call people who use it 'noobs'.

Yeah, I agree, play the game how you want.

Still very easy to get a head shot when you practice it enough. I prefer the analogs rather than mouse, I have used them both.

Anyways this is something I would have been going for.

You try to finish all mission-goals in one? Seems to take more time than replaying later... For speed you can blow the approaching cars with rockets and just drive away. And for the headshots do a chilled run.

Well, I didn't know that you could do the goals seperately. I thought you had to get them all in one go.
