H4milton
Ferrari Theme Park Set To Open in 2010 Abu Dhabi is probably tired of Dubai always stealing the thunder as the star of the United Arab Emirates. So this time Abu Dhabi is trying to increase its brand value by showing off a F1 spec race track a second subject is being developed right now; a Ferrari-based theme park set to open in 2010. Name? “Ferrari World Abu Dhabi”; a petrolhead’s “Disney Land”, and the new holiday destination will be the world’s first Ferrari theme park and largest attraction of its kind. The theme park will feature an iconic sleek red roof that’s said to be directly inspired by the classic double curve side profile of the Ferrari GT body, spanning 2,152,782 sq.ft. and carrying the largest Ferrari logo ever created. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will host over 20 state-of-the-art attractions, including rides for children of all ages and the world’s fastest rollercoaster, travelling at speeds exceeding 200 kmph emulating the thrilling sensation of being in a Ferrari F1 car. Another ride will rocket passengers through the roof and to a height of 203 feet to simulate the G-forces experienced by a drivers in an F1 car. And also racing simulators using a similar system as those used by the Ferrari racing team, flume ride journey through the heart of a Ferrari 599 engine, driving and racing school for junior drivers, with expert training and an aerial voyage over Italy following a Ferrari. The site is located on Yas Island on the North East side of Abu Dhabi’s mainland, which is about a 10-minute drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport and 50 minutes from Yas Marina Circuit, which will host the inaugural Abu Dhabi GP later this year. The company said the park's superstructure had been completed in 14 months, with more than 4,500 workers involved in the construction project on a daily basis. A joint venture management construction company owned by Aldar and Besix, the largest Belgian construction group, is responsible for the management of the project, whilst UK firm Benoy is the architect and lead consultant. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will be operated by Farah Leisure Park Management LLC (Farah), a joint venture between Aldar and ProFun Management Group. some construction time photos ... before you plan your next summer destination, take a virtual tour ... swolo yaggins
That's amazing, and surprising at the same time. I don't know where they're getting the money to build something so large, especially in the UAE, where construction of any sort has pretty much halted in neighboring Dubai. People losing their jobs and fleeing in droves because of fears of being thrown in debtors prison, etc. All the power to the Emirates. I'll be going to Ferrarilandia. 5192:12.3.02LM/SSHmkl

K^2
Where do they get money for projects like these...? You drive a car? If so, you probably helped pay for it. Looking at all the crazy things in UAE, I'm starting to get the impression that Arabs, as a group, are very bored people. If it's just as bad in the rest of Middle East, no wonder they keep going to wars. Anything to break the monotony. I'm glad UAE found a better way with all their Dubai craziness. Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns.

Waddy
They say the oil is going to run out in aroiund 10 years? Thats why they are trying to make it an attractive place to visit by building these things. Tourism in 10 years could be their top revenue. I think Abu Dhabi has some oil reserves to last till the 21st century, i'm not too sure though, I may have heard it wrong. I want to go there, sometime in my life-time. Mark
....Yas Marina Circuit, which will host the inaugural Abu Dhabi GP later this year. Or last weekend, actually . ?!=+_-
Enzo would be so proud of what's became of Ferrari, still one of the most desirable super cars today and now this. UAE is looking very good and still gets better all the time, they've got so much to see and do.

ghost of delete key
So dumb. And that first pic is scary. Looks like some creepy cartoon academy. ... like some Zentraedi nightmare from Macross Saga. My bet is that place will pull in oh-so-many tourists being so close to Islamofascist terror empires. Like mixing Disneyland with Silence of the Lambs, or something. I'm sure nobody wants to hang out there wondering exactly when Al Quaeda decides to fire something into the park. If it were in Texas, I would consider visiting, but I'm not interested in revisiting the Gulf region for any reason whatsoever, thanx. ghost of delete key
That isn't where the fight is, its probably safer over there than texas anyway Erm, last time I checked, the UAE is in the Middle East, not North America... unless they moved it again. Turns out, that's waaaay too close. And the last time I checked, North American countries haven't been aiding and abetting major terror cells. ...except maybe Mexico and the People's Republic of Canuckistan, but at least they pretend they don't. Warm/fuzzy. But you may be correct about Texas. Coming from Philadelphia, I'll take my chances.
