Ats.
Very good tutorial. Simple and understandable.
M|chael
Way to steal my layout, gayru, and I thought we were cool, .. Nah, looks good. I was in the process of making this tutorial myself actually. Will hold off posting it while this one is still active One pointer though,.. The end result looks alright for what it is, but what it isnt is BOGT. For that, it'd need another outline and considerablly thicker writing (Check the logo carefully) Kudos non the less, Im sure one way or another this will help a beginner get to grips with text customisation. The Guru
Thanks. M|chael: I actually coded that all by myself, the way you did it looks the neatest and I couldn't come up with any other way to present it. And yes, it's not exactly like BoGT but it's close The butcher, the baker, time to meet your maker Tell you to your face, you ain't nuttin but a faker
Wolf68k
A few things If you look at the original logo the O looks like they use 0 instead, don't ask me why but that's what I learned from trying to that request. Why not show what colors are used and how for the gradient? Some people might want to use those colors You lost me on Step
The Guru
You lost me on Step 5 Sorry, seems so simple to me. I'll try to fix it and try make things more clear. Also, I'll take a image of the gradient I used. EDIT* About the font, I don't think anyone on this forum has the exact same font that is used in BoGT. The font seems to work well for me so I'm not worried. Any similar type of font will do though. Wolf68k
Oh I'm pretty sure the font they used is Ariel, they just tweaked it a bit, just like they did with the VC font. My point is that if you look at the O compared to the 0, the 0 is clearly more narrow than the O gives you. The part you lost me at in Step 5 is "give the copy 0% fill". Everything else I get
The Guru
Ariel? You mean Arial or is it a separate font? Anyway, what I mean with Step 5, that when you duplicate the layer, you get an extra copy of the layer you duplicated (the duplicate). SO with the new layer you got now, give it a 0% fill. SP that only the effects (the stroke if your doing what you are supposed to) can be seen. SP that only the effects (the stroke if your doing what you are supposed to) can be seen. I'm not a Photoshop newbie. I know what it means to dup a layer and I know 3 of the ways to do, more if your count the modifier keys. I know how to fill with a color and pattern (Shift+F5). I know how to fill it with the either foreground (ALT+Delete) or background (CTRL+Delete) colors with a simple key stroke. Which by the way would be a lot quicker and easier than use the paint bucket. Or even setting the background color a head of time then when creating the new document setting the "Background Contents" to Background Color would save time as well. Wait are you saying to set the layer's Fill to 0%? That has to be it. If you had said that it would make more since. In most Photoshop tutorials when someone says "give it a fill" they usually mean to fill it with a color. Arial, Ariel...tomato, potato...whatever I also found that Arial Bold, again with some font tweaking, to be more accurate to original font. Well I did everything you said and it didn't come out exactly as yours....not even close really. The way you did the stars I didn't like at all. Using a small brush with the Brush Pallete->Shape Dynamics->Size Jitter set to Fade, then click at the start point (example a corner of the T) the shift+click in a direction you want the point to go in. Of course the stars are on a new layer. If need be you can use the square marquee tool to select the star then use Free Transform to rotate the star, that is if all of the stars are on the same layer. Let's just say I did a lot of playing around to get it closer to yours then some more playing around to get that closer to the original design Closer to yours, of course the gradient is some what different colors but ignore that part My effort to get close to the original design The original design, notice the color also shines inward of the letters not just out, yours just goes outward. http://www.perezstart.com/wp-content/uploa...of-gay-tony.jpg (I didn't want to post this big image inline of the post)
The Guru
Okay. About the inward glow, I noticed that when M|chael posted the link. I think I have figured a way to create that effect too. And also, what's wrong with my way of making the stars?
