Gta : life in vice

Rockstar games stated they redid Liberty City because they didnt feel they nailed the city correctly as they missed key landmarks. Well what if they didnt nail the atmosphere of vice city.

In GTA Vice City there was no swimming, the graphics being on a last gen werent as great as they could of been and while the story wasnt that great.

Now people are going to say: would rockstar redo vice city again because of no swimming? Well they redid liberty city of the city so...

There are also many hints towards this in GTA 4: The diamonds eventually end up in vice city. Sorta. The guy who finally finds the diamondds moves to vice city to open a gun shop. We could buy guns from him.

Another great idea ( i vastly remember vice city i could be wrong) would be to include the entire state of florida. This would mean Miami, Tampa Bay, Orlando and Jacksonville would all be major cities. A Map that could compare to san andreas in size.

Also rockstar could make a spoof of Disneyland. Imagine some of the funny names they could come up with for the characters!

ALSO: not related but as for unlocking each of the new islands how about them being locked because of the swine flu?

vice city would only be good in the 80s. nowadays it would be a big vacation place for kids and old people and there isn't any crime or fun going on anymore.

Bullsh*t. Miami is only quiet because the law enforcement is corrupt. A present day Vice City would be 100 times more realistic and appealing than the 80's one, with way more to draw from than ol music and scarface. It would be more like this underground shady sh*t you found in GTA IV.

Yes, the excuse for redoing liberty after they market tested with Deepthroat was because they felt they did it wrong. There won't need to be an excuse for Vice City, most of us already expect it and by this point realize what some refuse to acknowledge: GTA is NYC, Miami, and the West since day 1, GTA on the Amiga.

The location has ALWAYS been the star of GTA. Not "whichever we pick to do" No. The star is POP CULTURE IN AMERICA which resides and originates in those three places. I'm sorry, you may be disappointed to hear, but it isn't GTA unless it's in these places. And if they do a new place, it's going to be Chicago, because Chicago is on the map right now thanks to Obama and is quite corrupt.

But why the hell would you waste the chance to do an old school mobster game with a Chicago map on GTA? You wouldn't. It's not happening. It has been NYC, Miami, and San Fransisco since the first game, it'll remain that way. Because there is nothing to draw from elsewhere that the ENTIRE planet can enjoy together.

I don't know sh*t about london, tokyo, bogota (WTF LOL), or portland or seattle.

But you and everyone else on this planet knows about NYC, Miami, and the West Side. And really, the sh*t you see in GTA is only GENUINE in those places. Everywhere else is just copycats. It can't be genuine unless it's something you see in movies allllll the time. These three locations, or the game will fail, and they know that.

Don't kill me over this but I remember quite long ago that there was a picture of a guy on lovemeet.net and he was in VC and the picture was of a redesigned VC so I don't know if that means anything but to me it means R* have at least recreated that one spot for that picture. Why stop there tho? Thy not redo it completely? I'm sure that's what their doing.

Bullsh*t. Miami is only quiet because the law enforcement is corrupt. A present day Vice City would be 100 times more realistic and appealing than the 80's one, minus the overdone vibe. It would be more like this underground shady sh*t you found in GTA IV.

You make the most sense out of anyone here. Oh and Bogota is somewhere in Columbia. All I know about Portland is that it's in oregon. And All I know about Seattle is it's the Home of Nirvana and the re-birth of music(grunge, alt rock etc) and the home town of Zipper Int(MAG, SOCOM 1-3)

Oh and Chicago has already been done by R*. Carcer City is roughly supposed to be based off of Chicago.

Oh and so true. I probably know more about NYC and LA/Nevada more then my home town(as a matter of fact I do)

exactly lol, i have no idea about my home town, but all we hear, see, watch, listen to (oops, redundant lol) is NYC or the West, and ever since Vice City, Hollywood did a lot more in Miami. I would LOVE to see this picture from LoveMeet.net. Was that in-game or in the promo site? If it's in game, it's still gotta be there, right?

I wouldnt mind vice again but I dont think its going to happen. They did VC pretty well. They really captured the feel of the 80s, and the atmosphere was very well done. Thats what made it a hit.

I really dont care where the next location is, but I would like them to do another game in the 80's.

I'll second that. This happens after every game... we are so crazy, yes? Consumers...

Also, to someone who said Vice City wouldn't be good in present day... wow. I loved the 80s vibe but it could be great again.

I just hope the soundtrack isn't sh*t - that's what would make it or break it for me since the soundtrack to the original was so good. There would be a great need for a 70s and 80s stations in that city. If I hear some new hip hop in VC I'll be depressed when considering its former glory... VC will be more overrun with those people and city will be sh*t.

Some of you Americans seriously think the world revolves around the USA. confused.gif

I'm sorry to burst your bubble but, NYC, the west of USA, Chicago, aren't the only locations for GTA. Yes many people who purchased GTAIV were from the USA, but not all. 20-25% of revenue of GTA IV came from International Sales, and for companies like Rockstar and Activision that means the world to them - more then the development of the game itself.

Rockstar has done a fantastic job with Vice City as it is. I own it and play it often, it is always fun. Vice City is perfectly done, reverting it to the modern I don't think would be beneficial. They can go back to roots, GTA London was one of their first, they can remake that. Or they can go elsewhere, to make it more exciting. The USA is not the only location it can be. Hence, I don't think Vice City will be remade.

In terms of pictures in GTA IV, there were pictures of San Andreas as well as Vice City. They were just incorporating the other cities in the game. By not doing so they would be secluding GTA IV from the rest of the series.

I second this. Stop being so self centered, people. I live in the United States, it is not that great. I wish I lived in Europe, or even better, Japan.

Someone even said they didn't know sh*t about Tokyo or London.

Ignorance is NOT bliss in this case, because you don't even know what you're missing!

Tokyo is probably the most advanced, forward thinking city in the world, and you don't know ANYTHING about it! A lot of you people think Miami Florida is the best city ever. And all you can think about is how pretty the sun would be reflecting off some office towers! confused.gif

Here's a photo of Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo:

Everybody says that if they do vice city it should be in the 80s because thats when the crime and drugs and all of that sort of stuff was. But why does GTA have to be based off something real happening in a time period? Why can't R* go ahead and make up their own version of some huge crime problem? A lot of you people saying that, are the ones that want unrealistic stuff (see the "Unrealistic Cheats" post for an example)so why does it have set in a time period that had many crime events in the real world?

THERE IS A WORLD OUTSIDE AMERICA

WE KNOW THAT! Some of us just don't want an international GTA.

I've been to Japan, I stayed there for a month with my cousin, who teaches english or translates or something (I honestly don't know) It is not that special. And, personally, I hated it. I hated the foot and vehicle traffic. It was busy, crowded, and everyday I prayed that I didn't get hurt, because I saw an ambulance stopped in traffic for 5 minutes with it's lights and sirens on. And you say we all want florida because of "sun shining off an office building". Well so far, your only real reason for wanting Japan is the lights at night. Big deal! That is just about the equivalent of sun shining off an office building.

We have our own opinions though, you like Japan cities, I hate the cities, other than that it is a nice place. That's fine, we have our own opinions.

And RomanViking, Please stop acting like you are the coolest person on the forum.

Too bad you've never even heard of it...

That's what I'm talking about, you're acting like you know every little detail about Japan, and that you are the coolest person in America because of that. And yes, I have heard of both of those places.

People outside the US seem to hate the USA. Blah blah blah GTA can be in other countries. lol.gif Rockstar seems to have more fun bashing our political system, and I wonder if they could satire themselves.

GTA4 to me felt especially poor written. Are they working on making something really good, or have they lost their touch?

With that said, and my endorsement for an American-like city, I would like to say VC is a viable candidate but not the only one. I don't think a GTA game has been set in many parts of the US. What about Texas? Arizona? Tennessee? Virginia? Colorado? There are many states and terrains.

sorry socal000. It was directed at supermortalhuman, who was basically saying the United States is the center of everything, and nobody wants a GTA outside the US, ever. And EVERYTHING noteworthy in the the whole world is in New York, California, and Miami suicidal.gif

He also said he didn't know sh*t about Tokyo or London, so how can he say America is the coolest when America is the only place he knows about?

GOSH

Also, GTA isn't about making fun of the United States, at least not to me... I play GTA because I like car chases, and running from the police. I was attracted to GTA III because it was like Driver 2, but you could get out of the car and shoot your pursuers tounge2.gif

Dammit, lol now I feel like an asshole for writing that. So, yeah, Im sorry for writing all of that, and sorry if any of it offended you in any way. (which it probably did, sorry)

I agree, you really shouldn't say that America is amazing and Europe and japan and other places is sh*t, if you've never been there.

They redid LC, because they didn't think it was like New York. Vice City was like Miami, and San Andreas was a great copy of California.

And don't go denying this sh*t, R* said it themselves. Dot.

Not in the entertainment market there isn't, Nope. Especially not in video games.

Shame we never heard of it, indeed. Because that's the same reason they know they couldn't push it to us tounge.gif

Name a game that was good that took place in a "RECOGNIZABLE real world place" and that DIDN'T take place in LA or NYC (with the exception of Vice City, and there are a few games there too).

Like, really, I am trying to think of one, but I can't. I'm sure I'm forgetting some gem out there, but no, I can't think of a single successful game worth playing that was in a real place, yet not in those two locations (again, the exception of miami)

Vice City was like Miami, and San Andreas was a great copy of California.

no, and no. Vice City was way too small and San Andreas was not just california, and was way too weak graphically (too many repeated things etc)

The only games I can think of are CoD and The Getaway. Everything else in the video game world has either been in some fake American city or some made up planet or somewhere in space.

THERE IS A WORLD OUTSIDE AMERICA

Ya. It's called Canada. And I'm Canadian and what do I think about americans? Well I generally hate them but I have a few American friends. But still. Without America the world would be better. But with out Canada the world would go to sh*t real fast. We're the f*cking peace keepers man.

Also a GTA game in Canada would be awesome. Maybe Toronto. or the Greater Toronto Area. GTA:GTA.

If that's seriously what you think, I feel sorry for you man. You appear to have lived a very sheltered life which has led you to have a very blinkered and narrow minded view of things.

Read more books, watch more films, play more games, look at more sites on the internet. If you think that video games and 'the entertainment market' is limited to NYC, LA and Miami then you REALLY need to open your mind.

If that was really the case, what a sh*tty world we would be living in. 3 cities in the whole planet are worth showcasing, and all in the same country. How ridiculous. rolleyes.gif
