D0PEFISH
I 1st installed gta 4 and it played beautifully with over 1000mb of resource to play with ! then I shut down the computer for the night, restarted it the next day and it ran terrible with only 300mb of resources, I got frustrated and installed call of duty that also installed the new directx drivers, that game played great, I then tried gta4 again and it ran great again, again I shut down for the night and the next day it ran terrible again, I thought it might have been the directx so I tried to install that again but that did nothing, anyone know whats going on ? ? ? D0PEFISH
I don't know what that is I played around with it yesterday and I started to remove some things from the system tray to lower the memory usage and that seemed to work, it still doesn't explain why its struggling with memory though, I would think that 1g of video memory and 4g of system memory would be just fine...........I went into my NVIDIA adapter tab and it say's chip type - geforce 9400 dac type - integrated ramdac total available graphics memory - 1919mb dedicated video memory - 256mb system video memory - 64mb shared system memory - 1599mb not sure if the dedicated memory is only supposed to be 256 but it seems to be help

Jigglyass
Well your computer has 2 GPUs. One for gaming, and it turns on when 3D demand comes which is the GTX260M. Then 9400 is for 2D. As far for the memory problem, do you exit the game properly or do you just alt F4?
mkey82
and it turns on when 3D demand comes which is the GTX260M. Then 9400 is for 2D Oh lord, I already see GTAIV running amok on that machine. Sometimes it's probably using the 9400 and 260 on the other occasions. Is it possible to disable the 9400 as to prevent GTAIV in using it?

D0PEFISH
Ah ha ! I went into the Bios and there was a setting in there for Nvidia hybrid mode that was off, I turned that on and now it runs excellent ! it added a physx GPU acceleration mode that seems to utilize the memory better or something, Awesome !
