deadpool1337
Please can someone help me my head is battard i have no idea of what to do next. So first ive had GTA IV for a while now since last xmas, never bothered with online as i was busy playing single player mode, just roaming around for a few months after completing it. Then i got a bit bored so i went to try it online, then i was playing for about 3mins, then i got "Disconnected Your NAT/Router is too strict" Ive looked around found the ports i should forward, Done that... And you guessed it IT DOSNT WORK !! I've spoke to my ISP who has switched me to use Bridge mode, Which is like being connected to a modem. That didnt fix it. I have NO AV Software, disabled Windows Firewall, Nothing can be blocking it at all man, I'm just start struck and confused on how to follow up this issue. If anyone has any suggestions please do let me know asap. Thanks.
HushemFlupskluk
I believe you must have static IP adresses for port forwarding. You could just assign your PC to DMZ (demilitairised zone) which would open ports for you also. Turn off firewall on your router would maybe also do some good. This is the best I can give you, good luck!

Jimbatron
What router do you have? The reason I ask is I recently switched from a Netgear to a Belkin router, and although I'm pleased with the hardware, I had to set it up slightly differently to get an open NAT type. To be honest, I don't know a lot about networking, but if it's a Belkin router you have I can at least tell you how mine is set up. I took me a good few hours messing around to get it to work. HushemFlupskluk
Is it not a router on another router situation then perhaps? Try your PC at a friends house to see if it does work there could give you some new insight in your home situation. ..Also I would like to add; I never had to forward ports for gta 4. I always used the default LAN settings and the router not configured. Reset the router for default settings. See what happens then. IMO changing sertain settings on your router don't do any good. That means to avoid trouble leave it all set to default.
Jigglyass
1 you have to port forward ports both for the router and the modem. 2 You do not have to have a static IP to port forward.
viometrix
i hate to say it, but when it comes to multiplayer gaming the only people that specialize in this is d-link. i only use dlink routers at home and they detect game traffic, give it priority, auto traffic shape, auto port forward, everything. netgear and belkins really suck in my opinion, they are offered at reputable computer stores as a very low end solution, and at walmart. linksys makes a decent unit, but they seem to freeze up often enough, and even though cisco owns linksys they make good routers (but they are business class. may i make a suggestion? unplug your router, plug your computer directly to your modem and see if it works, if it does, its your router. HushemFlupskluk
2 You do not have to have a static IP to port forward. Not true. Conflicts will pop up on the LAN. You are right when you use DMZ, then you don't have to have a static IP

I have a Belkin router having just swapped from a DLink and can't get the ports to be open. When I go into my router it says UPNP is Enabled but when I check in the GFWL Guide\Network Information, it says its "available, not used". I forwarded all the ports and it still says closed. How, did you get it working on the Belkin?
