Personally I think the plane leaving at the end is to show us that we are leaving Liberty for good and our next adventure takes place somewhere new. It's used for dramatic purposes only. This is the same reason the plane doesn't turn at all and stays flying in one direction - it's visually cleaner and dramatic. The plane needs to take off in a direction the runways point and these are NE, SW, NW, SE. The eastern directions are better for visually dramatic purpose as you can still see other parts of Liberty when heading west. My guess is they just chose one of these randomly. If they chose South-East we'd still have just as many topics. More intriguing to me is Packie going into the airport. John The Grudge Posted November 2, 2009 Share Posted November 2, 2009 I can't see Packie being the next protagonist. He has a little brain and while he is Niko's friend, he's also kind of a bell end. I think in the end he probably had to leave. His family was in tatters and it makes sense for him to lay low after everthing that's went on.
