Ignoring all the added bonus features and weapons, etc, at the end of the day... when all is said and done who's story did you enjoy playing through the most, Johnny's or Luis's and why?

Edit: Remember to be careful with spoilers.

For some reason i could get into the whole biker thing I'm more of the club life type of guy.Dont get me wrong TLAD is a good game but i think TBoGT is better.

It's hard to say, I preferred the overall atmosphere in TLAD though, and Johnny was a much more powerful protagonist than Luis.

But I liked Yusuf and Tony, but the overall plot didn't expand on/interweave with Niko's story as much as it should have done.

For how rushed TLAD was supposedly, it seemed to have a lot more love put into it compared to TBoGT...

TBoGT felt extremely rushed, like all they did was decide to give people a tank and a parachute and throw out anything else they might have planned.

I liked TBOGT's story and characters more. The freindship between Luis and Tony was handled better than Johnny and lets say Jim. The ending of TBOGT is kind of wierd though as it leaves some questions open, but it's nothing major. I enjoyed TBOGT more, but I loved both.

I only finished the story last night so I haven't had much time to think about it, but what do you think is left to answer?

At this point in time I prefer TBOGT, just because, although I liked TLAD, the pacing seemed wrong. Brian was clearly going to be an antogonist from the beginning, but his shift from being an annoying idiot to being a main enemy seemed too sudden. It's all explained, but just seemed too forced for me.

Well the fact that Tony disappears from your contact list on your cell phone, you can't contact Yusuf after the game, you're kind of left with your booty calls when you finish the game.

I would've loved it if you could call tony and go out and do something with the guy, maybe get some insight on what's been going on after the ending of the game

Billy is the main antogonist

I feel Ballad of Gay Tony had a lot better storyline.

Now don't get me wrong, the Lost and Damned did have a good storyline but with the Ballad I really felt the connection between Luis and Tony. A lot of people keep saying that they didn't enjoy the story. How?

Seriously, moment like when Tony had the gun to his head and was saying hes going to kill himself. 'I love you, Luis! You were like a song to me!' and when he finally put the gun down. Moments like that between the two brought a tear to a lot of peoples eyes. I know this for a fact since I streamed me playing through the entire game, meaning on a website I had it running like a webcam and 50+ people watched, and a lot of people said that was emotional. And the banter between Luis and Tony made their relationship a lot better

It is my opinion that The Ballad of Gay Tony is Rockstar's best storyline to date. Luis and Tony have the best relationship of any character. Sure Armando and Henrique are sort of.. just there, but play through the drug deals and you'll get a bit more into them.

And don't get me started on Yusuf. He's one of the best characters R* ever made, period.

I thought TBOGT was a lot more mature, strangely enough. Gay Tony's plight of getting old in a line of work that strives on youth is pretty easy to relate to. Couldn't help but think of 40+ year old gamers who find themselves getting into verbal skirmishes with 13-year-olds over XBOX Live.

I know. Maybe I should have used the word adversary. But Brian is a main "baddie". The point of my post was to express the suddeness of his promotion to needing to be killed by Johnny. Billy on the other hand was always unpredicatable. I found his transition to be more believable.

The stories were quite equal in my opinion. R* could've made them both a bit more epic than they did, but I ain't complaining. They lenght was perfect. Somehow GTA IV felt a bit too long and they kept focus on too many things. TLAD and TBOGT are both more solid.

However, I prefer TBOGT over TLAD because of the missions and all the new features. TLAD had some great ones too but it wasn't enough compared with TBOGT. TBOGT had also way more interesting characters. In TLAD you mostly dealt with bikers, while in TBOGT you deal with all kind of different characters. All from midlife crisis club owners to Arabic billionaire developers and crazy Russian mobsters.

So TBOGT wins.

I prefered TBoGT, but both felt incredibly rushed. To be honest, I think if Rockstar had a little more time, TBoGT could've had a storyline as long as "Vanilla IV."

Then again, I have no room to complain when I only paid $20.

TLAD wins hands down. The TLAD story felt so much deeper and serious and real. Whilst both are great games... They both have a great story etc... TLAD is way better story-wise, comprared to TBoGT.

TBoGT is a much funnier game gameplay-wise though. But that's not the question here.

Agreed. Tony was such a sympathetic character, and his relationship with Luis so convincingly portrayed, that although TBoGT's plot might have been less accomplished than that of TLAD or 'vanilla' GTA IV, I found myself caring more about its outcome.

They both sadly felt a bit rushed... but I'll say that while I think TLAD had the potential to be a very engaging storyline, TBOGT was a very engaging storyline that just left me wanting a bit more. I dunno, as a lot of you have said the relationship between Luis and Tony was great and I feel like TLAD was really missing out on something like that. The potential was there, Billy was a great character, but I feel like they just didn't do enough with him, I think they would have been wise to have more one on one encounters between Johnny and Billy (and even Terry and Clay) and downplayed the whole thing with Elizabeta and Stubbs... for me TLAD's story just felt like it was all over the place trying to be to many different things at once, I would have preferred a story more focused on Johnny's actual relationship with the individual members of the Lost; I think Billy's betrayal would have been more significant if we saw more of a friendship/brotherhood between him and Johnny.... instead we just always saw him in context of the whole gang and being a dick.

That said the whole thing in TBOGT with Luis' mom and Armando and Henrique felt a little downplayed... there was that thing with that guy Santos that seemed to be hinting that something was going to happen involving Luis' mom... but never did.

In the end I like both games, but I think TBOGT was better, I had an overall better time and felt more pulled in by the story.
