aFinn
Check your e-mails again and reply positively to it. If replying to the original e-mail won't trigger it, then wait for a new mail. I don't know if you need to wait for a new mail or can you use the old one again since I never had to do them twice. Also one possibility is to restart from a older save if you haven't done too much that you have to redo again.
pdean52
thanks for your reply aFinn. i've (stupidly) only got one save file so going back isn't currently an option. in all honesty i haven't checked my e-mails again since the failure which occurred yesterday to see if a new one is there. is that a possibility then - if i've already replied to the original that it will be resent to start the recovery of this car all over again? i'm nearly finished the first island - about 20% through the storyline so if i cannot recover this car i may just start again and keep multiple save files!! not too far in to swallow a restart.....!! simonp92
you might need to start over. note; if an importaint car lies on the road with the wheels in the air. steal another car and ram the old one until it gets on the wheels.
aFinn
Since these missions are only triggered via e-mails, you either get a new one, or can use the old mail. So you shouldn't need to restart. But I suggest that from now on you start keeping some backup saves too, so if in the future you run into a glitch you can restart without losing too much. pdean52
thanks for the tip simonp92 - i'll bear that in mind in case of any future mishaps. i'm still hopeful that aFinn's predicition may come to fruition though and i have another e-mail waiting for me tonight enabling me to restart the recovery of the first car. starting over is not my ideal solution!! pdean52
do you know what aFinn, everytime i get a new game i suffer this problem and wonder why i only kept one save file and end up having to restart or create multiple save files to overcome any glitches. i guess i never learn.....!! aFinn
My guess is that it will be a new e-mail, it's probably not possible to retry with the old mail, I did some searching. Usually with stuff like this it may take about 6 game hours for another mail (or later on a text message for other collectibles) to come through. One thing to keep in mind for the future, if your inbox is full new mails won't come through, so it's good to delete spam mails for example. Right now you probably won't have too many mails yet, but in the future.
pdean52
thanks - i shall update tomorrow having had a check of my inbox tonight when i get home from work. the full inbox point was one thing i had already found through googling but seeing as i've had the e-mail account for such a short period i knew this wouldn't be a problem. plus i'm a stickler for deleting all texts and e-mail both in game and in real life which i don't need to keep so it should hopefully never become an issue unless spam really takes hold. thanks for all your help in the meantime. thank god for the internet and forums. when i was young and i got stuck on one of my amstrad games it just had to go in the bin uncompleted!! pdean52
i checked my email last night and i do indeed have a new email from bruce regarding the car which my nephew trashed when attempting first retrieval so all good!! i have the original email which i replied to as well as a new email awaiting reply when i'm ready to start brucie's exotic exports. for now i'm concentrating on completing the storyline having discovered the liberty city minute achievement and knowing this is now my priority. 10 hours down and only 25 missions complete. sure i'll be fine to get this achievement but i can't mess around any longer!! thanks for everyone's replies on this subject.
