What sort of internet have you got?

So what sort of internet connection have you got?

 

I feel this selection represents the the best set of choices, since most connections better than ADSL/Cable are unlimited, or have very high caps and dialup is usually unlimited, or at least high enough that you'd struggle to go over the cap anyway.

 

Me, I'm on a 20 gig a month plan which is a stinker, hopefully I'll be getting an unlimited plan soon.

 

Also, it would be nice if you could reply with where you are from and how much you are paying.

Virgin Media 10 meg cable broadband, it has an uncapped download limit.

Not a clue what ADSL means or what speed I have, its meant to be 20 Meg but since I live in the middle of knowhere we haven't even got the best speeds around since a lot of companies don't even have their things installed. Still does the job well though, 20 Meg Unlimited download as well and I'm with Orange. I think its about £30 a month, and my mum's just capped on the always free calls to save ourselves £5.

ADSL uses existing phone lines and a extra high frequency, so that's probably what you have.

ADSL simply stands for assymetrical DSL, and refers to the fact that you typically have something like 12/1 meg down/up instead of a symmetric 12/12 or 1/1.

 

The other way to think of it is ADSL is just faster than the typical DSL of the late 90s that was only about 1/1 meg, symmetrical.

At home I've got ADSL2+ which gives up to 20Mbps but due to my distance and possibly sh*tty copper I rarely get above 4Mbps which is fine for me really. Fine as I only get 20Gbs a month in usage and for me its just enough for my uses with a little extra for the odd large demo or whatever. I am with AAPT and I pay about $59.95 a month which bundles my phone calls and usually the whole thing is about $100 most months. The great thing about this ISP is they are leading the pack in Australia by offering a genorous unlimited downloads between 8pm and 8am. I am on their old plan but intend to jump on their new plans giving me 20Gbs peak and unlimited off-peak so that will be great!

 

Right now I am away from home and using a Vodaphone Wireless Broadband USB stick which is prepaid and only gives me a 1Gb download limit but its only got to last this week. Speedwise its pretty basic like only just broadband speeds through 3G which is fine for foruming and email stuff etc.

ADSL, unlimited. It would be IMPOSSIBLE for us here at home to have limited downloads; there are two desktop and five notebooks running all the time, browsing the web, listening to internet radio, downloading big files, etc.
