Seriously speaking, what irks you about this game?

I've found there are some slight changes, like a grenade at one of the construction sites I couldn't locate...the time frame is the same, so that's odd, but there are some different layout changes. I believe this runs parallel with GTA4, as we see Roman and Brucie and the robbery with Niko

Aside from that, the technical foibbles are that there are still the same glitches in single player, mine nearly froze at one point, this Xbox I have now has not fallen pray to terminal weakness, but that's always scary with prior experience being horrible.

The AI for the police, that's the main thing I am really, REALLY unhappy with. It seems rather then adjust it to be better, it's almost more annoying, as if that's possible. I get killed 99.9% of the time I engage them, they are RELENTLESS.

If you play the mission side, it's less so, as some GTA fans know, missions only incur about 3 wanted stars, or 4 at most IIRC. Not all 6. I was able to avade 4 stars, even without the train ways underground, but it is harder, make no mistake.

I spent hours just taking on the police to test tactics of evasion.

Anyway, it's also when I get pissed that I take on the police as a revenge tactic, it's sad, really

Best thing is not get involved with them and avoid them, if you want to strickly play the mission aspects.

Also, Our new lead Luis runs slower then Niko and Jumps shorter I believe, I mean, I've played GTA4 extensively, and I am pretty sure this is also the case.

Running obviously during evasion, the cops are ON YOU!!! in no time.

You'll find you have to turn around and shoot two or three closest cops to gain a lead. icon13.gif

Another gripe is while the story and text is not worth bitching about, the voice acting is such a let down compared to new game UNCHARTED 2 and GTA4, in fact. The voice talant is pretty sub-par, I just wish they had more character to reflect the actual charecters. It comes off as grating over time

I don't agree with your points.

I felt the single player experience was a master piece.

The multiplayer is what what RockStar screwed up on. Why is BaseJumping not a mode, or Triathlon races not a mode? or new Cops N Crooks with parachutes and tanks?

the only thing that pisses me off is the insane amount of textures not loading. its a night mare, it actually takes an unbeleivable amount of time for something to load in.

im not going to read all of it think there might be spoilers but i pointed this out about the Liberty citys disk, if infact the story runs parralle then it makes no sense not to include all of the radio stations that were present in the original GTAIV.

Well, you MUST be playing a different game, I am pretty firm on my findings, they did effect my experience. The voice acting lacks the character that the characters onscreen have, for one thing, and just the fact that you deal with the police in most aspects of game play, it's bothersome from the start, I wanted a system where even though the area of search widens on the radar, you could easily hide and use stealth to clear that wanted level. Do you EVEN recall the stars USED to disappear over a given time frame?!? Why get rid of that, Rockstar?!?

You have to eleborate on that point, it's closed at the start, then you see patrons lining up in short order, I couldn't get in as far as I played. I did a lot more exploring then moving the story along, and I am not spoiling that end, it's a lot of similar missions to those of GTA past.

I think my expectations were they'd smooth some points out, and one very nice aspect is new Lazlow that's more amusing, it lacked that with Integrity 1.0!

hahaha

I also am a HUGE fan of incorporating the economic "downturn" news into the game, it's so damn timely and a perfect satire element

this totally screwed me on the mission where you have to follow Mori and Brucie by car.

when you drive alongside the water, the textures for the benches and other car-stopping obstacles would pop up at the last minute resulting in epic spinout crashes and a worse end score, because i wouldnt have enough time to react to swerve out of the way when they finally "showed up" on screen.

I've noted texture issues, which is why my initial posting covers unresolved glitches, that is certainly part of GTA's problem in the evolution Rockstar North has with this series. It's more interesting to compare to other next gen games, and feel the scope is better or worse. I hate to say that, it's like two sports teams you like facing off on each other, but the two biggies I dealt with were Uncharted and GTA from the start, the same 2 year period it's taken to this point, and seeing how the studios embraced the new hardware challenge.

I think GTA is proving a tough piece of software for the hardware, but I believe if others can get their wares working smoothly there's a chance to iron out GTAs as well.

I'd say from my time with it, the past two days, there's some spots where the loading is more noted then others, but not nearly all the time

it's data on the same CD.

did you buy that 2 disk package ? maybe that is it.

because i play all 3 stories on the basic GTA IV disk and i have no problems.

but Niko do run faster and jump higher then the other 2 doe.

I agree with BioVirus on this.

The Triathlon race you do in the singleplayer, had to atleast be in the multiplayer mode.

That is something that really sucks.

And cops and crooks ruled the multiplayer mode when GTA4 came out.

They should really update the BOGT with some sort of mode like that.

Or put cannonball run back, where you start from a high building up top.

Just make more use for the parachute in online modes, that make sense!

Im kinda amazed that its not already in there mercie_blink.gifcryani.gif

So Rockstar could you guys please adjust these things in the near future?

Cause if its stays like this, the FUN will probably die in a short time.

I simply can't compare online modes to Singleplayer, but my experience is just not improving with the time I've spent with it, to me GTA4 was easier in terms of mechanics, AI and the character control vie running and jumping. I use Classic Control scheme if that accounts for anything, it's most like PS3's layout in my mind.

No, I rented Episodes, the Xbox two games in one release, avoiding downloading this thing, as I use dialup it would not work on an Xbox! hahaha

The texture load in hides objects you can hit, as mentioned above my post, and that's true, but I've had less of a problem with it, not to negate that it IS an issue RN have yet to solve. I was hoping for an evolution to the police Wanted scheme via Download patching, to change it up for better effect would be one of the best moves RN could make!

You criticize the voice actors and characters, but they are very well done in my opinion. It is like a fine movie, it's a masterpiece of art in a video game. RockStar did it again.

why ? it was only DLC.

i like the DLC idea because it keep the fans in a GTA mood so we don't forget about GTA but it was not like we was getting a brand new game. knowing rockstar they would give you like 4 missions and call it a day.

i think rockstar are laughing at us. showing us stuff we want but don't give it to us.

never trust rockstar, they are asses! smile.gif

- Thus far, I've found the voice-acting - and characterisation - to be even more engaging and cinematic than in 'vanilla' GTA IV; Gay Tony, Yusuf Amir, Bulgarin and Luis Lopez in particular. It certainly isn't inferior, at any rate.

- The single-player experience is more enjoyable, although the multiplayer - Free Mode notwithstanding - seems needlessly constrained. Why limit our choice of weapons in such an arbitrary fashion? Why can't I decide between TLAD, TBoGT and 'vanilla' weapons, or between 'poor', 'powerful' and 'elite'? Why doesn't 'episodic' rotate the spawn-points between TLAD, TBoGT and 'vanilla'? Why have the outdoor locations for deathmatch been replaced by interiors, rather than supplemented by them? Why couldn't Rockstar re-instate Cops 'N' Crooks, or the co-operative missions, or allow us to choose 'vanilla' costumes for our avatars? Having only twelve different torsos to choose from at Rank 9 seems ridiculous.

- Furthermore, why can't I select the difficulty of the police in Free Mode? At the moment they default to 'hard' which, coupled with the nerfing of auto-aim, means that you'll be peppered by Glock bullets from an absurd distance before you can even get within range with your M249 SAW or P90 (since TBoGT weapons are practically the only weapons available, and although powerful, lack the precision of their 'vanilla' counterparts). Group stand-offs with other players against the police are fun, but they would be considerably more so if every bullet didn't reduce your health-bar by half.

- Luis' run and jump animations seem slightly lethargic compared with Niko's, but they're a damned sight more convincing than Johnny's, so Rockstar are forgiven on that front.

Translation of Slamman's whole post:

"I suck at evading the cops!"

I never get busted by the cops. My stats show like 1 "busted' on GTAIV because I was shooting pigeons and I got a wanted level when I was in a downstairs stoop. Other than that I never get busted, not in TLaD, not in TBoGT, never.

Maybe it's how I play against them. I do get killed but getting busted is like a non-issue and I don't know how it happens. If you see a cop about to run up and open your car door you get out and kill them. If you have cops swarming you on a drug war or a gang war you kill them just like the enemies. Sometimes you do it successfully, sometimes you don't.

On this game the new shotgun with explosive rounds makes you almost unstoppable so it was seriously a non-issue this time around.

i only got busted in IV once because i wanted to see what it looks like when you do get busted.

that was like when i 1st got the game and was seeing what changed.

it's almost impossible to get busted in gta 4.

I'm pretty sure its the best sandbox game ever played and you will always find mistakes and negatives about a game. The fact of the matter is the new "explosive" features of TBOGT outshines the story as its never going to be anything on the vanilla.

I second this opinion. And I also think that those characters are done so well.

Cinematics and voice acting are top-notch in my opinion.

I also think that Mori's voice actor was also great. I'm mean otherwise he wouldn't have been THAT annoying.

My opinion stands from the early playing of the DLC, I've not completed it, lets not forget, however, I spent some quality time with The Lost and Damned on the Episodes DVD now as well and I can say, that DLC is much better, from the get-go, you can see that was amazing, there is some quality gap between the two, from the mission and character standpoint. My comment about the grenade earlier was in error, I found I'd walked over it, but I have been looking to see what has changed from each release. Judging from LAtD, not much there, I don't want to discuss in the BoGT thread about Lost and the Damned, but that was impressive given that I didn't like the biking idea initially.

Still, I am not saying I hate BoGT, it seems or feels like the later SA missions in a way

My biggest complaint is the utter weakness of the explosive shotgun shells, doesn't seem to pack a lot of punch when some guys can take two shots at close range confused.gif

And there were a lot of characters I expected to return, like Playboy X, and a lot of side stories that never got answered.

One thing I like though is that the streets of Algonquin seem to be flooded with AoD now cool.gif

That's weird, because it demolishes cars easily.

My EFLC hasn't arrived in the mail yet, since I just ordered a copy online yesterday tounge.gif

Anyway, this is kinda directed at everyone, mainly Slamman though:

Is the police AI improved, so being chased is better? Or are they so ruthless that it isn't fun anymore? Slamman seemed to be saying that the police were too good at killing Luis!

Do they do a good job pursuing in vehicles, or is it mostly on foot that they're ruthless?

Also, how did you rent EFLC?! I went to Blockbuster, they only had one copy, and it was out... You must have gotten lucky...

it's almost impossible to get busted in gta 4.

No really almost impossible just hard. The only times I've been arrested in IV is when a cop has come up to me when in a car, or when I've let them catch me.

Having the option to break free when a cop has a gun pointed at you makes it much more difficult to get arrested on foot.

thats a thought for the next gta.

fast cops that actually tackle you to the ground and slap the cuffs on.

i quite enjoy TBOGT however it would've been nice if there were more clubs. sounds a bit greedy but with all the unused interiors from gta IV they could've made more disc space for clubs. also the clubs in the game to me don't strike me as what i'd expect as "The hottest clubs in LC".

another petty gripe i have is; why are drinks free? correct me if i'm wrong but didn't everyone wanted more things to spend money on.

sorry for the b******g i guess i'll always want more in gta's
