I love Niko as the GTA IV protoganist, and is easily one of the best GTA protagonists [though i could say that about a few] but one thing that really annoys me about him, is the way that in cutscenes he's like:

 

I don't want any more blood on my hands.

My hands haven't been clean for a long time

 

etc.etc. but then in gameplay, you hear him shouting

 

I'll cut off your f*cking head!

I'll rip your f*cking heart out!

AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH motherf*ckers

 

Yes, it sounds cool when he's rolling around behind cover shouting badass macho sh*t, but it doesn't fit in with his cinematic character. In many ways it seems they are twodifferent personalitys.

True he had the deepest story (but to be fair it was also the longest story) and the some of the best lines ever heard in a video game if you ask me.

Maybe he is a bit of a pussy but he was involved with criminals and dirty cops and drugs. Niko, as I know, didn't endure the drug scene, although he got some drugs for some people.

 

Luis is bad-ass. But he used to fight hand-to hand. So to know if they're pussies or not, we should look at their past.

 

I see Niko as an immigrant who fought in a war and saw his friends die.

I see Johnny as a guy who wanted to change and stop what made his friends high and die.

I see Luis as someone who wants to help out.

 

So Niko wants money and wants to get his cousin, Roman, out of shat. Shat=sh*t.

 

So Johnny probably got fueled by seeing his friends high on drugs and decided to join a motorcycle club. Who knows? (If you do, please mention so).

 

So Luis, as I see him, is either a cool bodyguard or only wants bling-bling and girls.

When did Luis ask for those things? If I recall Sticky Bombs were given to him from Mori to take down some boats and then he took them off Tony who was about to blow up the three things. The Parachute was handed to Luis from that guy we killed at the top of the Rotterdam Tower. Luis didn't ask for sh*t, he was just lucky to be the last Protagonist to get the crazy sh*t handed to him on a plate. Only person to ask for stronger weapons was Johnny when he became president and wanted Pipe Bombs and other guns to help his club in the gang wars.

I like Johnny alot, but him being one of the main playable characters for liberty city isnt right. B4 any DLC's came out, i couldnt ever picture playing a biker in a fictional Modern NYC. I imagined played either someone whos involved with night clubs and NYCs party life but still had a dark side (Luis) altho for some reason i dont think luis was a right pick for that theme, i dunno thats my opinion. I would imagine playing as someone who is a member of organized crime, like someone who is a respected soldier in the italian mafia or Traids. I have to be honest, when the 1st dlc came out that was suppose to be involved with gangs, i wasnt expecting a biker theme, but it liked it.

 

So my opinion, the character best suited for Liberty city was Niko hands down. But best character out of the 3 playable character, It would have to go to Johnny. Luis didnt meet my expectation. I didnt find him bad ass at all, i just thought of luis being a man who was trying to get out of crime and stay legit, which i think is stupid especially for a game like GTA. and on top of that (No offense to luis fans out there) he was puss at times.

 

Niko- Great selection of a main character for GTA 4 and this character went well with the city. I loved how nikos story played out, amazing choice and character backround (military and working with russian mobs b4 entering liberty city). His Military backround gave him the skills to survive and take on liberty citys underworld. Overall, great choice of character for this city.

 

Johnny- Like i said, when i heard of R* making a DLC and said they would make you feel like you were in a gang with this protaganist, i wasnt expecting a biker theme, especially in a pixled replica of NYC. Id picture Johnnys character (a biker theme) taking place in San Andreas, not liberty. But as i played the game, Johnnys character (to me) was one of the best playable character in GTA R* has ever made. It seemed that in johnny backround, theres alot of darkness surrounding him and eventually loses hope of living a normal life and didnt give a crap (or take no crap) in result= a free man. Free to do whatever, killing, blowing up stuff, beating people up to a pulp, it didnt matter matter to him. All the rules of the law, he said "f*ck it, and f*ck the people running this country". I could picture johnny being some sort of terrorist or starting a revolution in the city. and back than to me, when GTA 3 was big, and Vice city to, GTA was all about massive destruction imo. and Johnny is the perfect character to deliver that. Over all, the best character, but not suited for NYC theme. I was expecting more of the Italian Mafia theme, playing as a respected made guy, or a well respected member of a triad. But non the less, i was pleased with the biker theme.

 

Luis- I was not happy with this character. When i think of NYC i think of 2 things- Organized crime and Night life. I honestly would of done something way different with this dlc (and work alot of the character). The whole Night life thing was good but i dont think luis was the right character to choose for this theme. I felt they could of done alot better and i personally didnt like how he complained and kept going over the non sense of being legit. Great theme R* has done, and it goes well with the city, but character wise, i wanted someone else.

yes, Niko is definitely the most badass of all. I thought he was just a really cool guy. I could really relate to his attitude. He's nihilistic, and he gets annoyed by people's fakeness and stupidity. He's kind of like Holden Caulfield.

 

the only thing I didn't like about him was that he'd kill anyone for money. But I guess he had to, otherwise we wouldn't have a game. Maybe he just figures everyone sucks so they all deserve to die and he'll accept money from one loser to kill another loser.

 

But he did like some people. He liked Dwayne, he liked Kate (don't know why), he liked Jacob, he seemed like he kind of liked Packie.

 

Niko was just a cool guy.

 

Now Johnny...I don't know. I like him alright, but I don't respect him. The whole biker gang thing seemed real childish to me. And from the beginning of his story, it was obvious everyone was using him...Ashley, Billy, Ray....but he just keeps on doing favors for them.

 

He was just such a lowlife too. I'm not a snob but wow, he just reminded me of a raging meth addict...so did Jim...just some dumb greaseballs-like the cops who pushed them around said. Those cops were assholes but I have to agree with them about what they thought of Johnny & Jim.

 

That was just a depressing episode. I think they could have done a lot better of a DLC then TLAD, with a lot better plot, and a lot better character than Johnny's loser ass.

 

As for Luis, right now he's a stranger. To me, he's just some musclebound guy who kicks people's asses and stuff, but I think he will prove to be quite a cool guy once we get to know him.

Johnny was such a boring wannabe badass character. In the end in my opinion the only storyline worth playing through is Luis' because it's not drawn out and has plenty of variety. Niko and Johnny represent the prententious turn rockstar was attempting, and Luis brought the series back to where it should be.

The character i play most is Luis, just because of the new guns. If they added the guns onto TlaD or IV though, i would play one of those.

 

As far as character favourites go, i would say Johnny. Following up with Niko, then no place for Luis because i didn't like him or his traits.

 

For those of you that are favoring Luis because of the features and glitsy glam story, you're just immature.

TlaD/IV's story was the best because they were realistic. In the criminal underworld things are dark, and generally don't have some fairytale ending.

One of the main things i like about GTA is that it's real. The protagonists aren't the bodybuilding pretty-boys like you see in the movies, they're the real thing. Just criminals who are actually tough and don't need muscles and sh*t to kick ass.

 

Rockstar destroyed the progress they had made to created a darker, more mature GTA with TBOGT. Now we have some pretty-boy bodybuilder who looks like hes better suited to a prep school than a criminal lifestyle. I say keep GTA with the IV/TLaD story and leave the rest of the crap for SR and its legion of 11 year old fans.

 

Not to say they shouldn't add all the fun features in, just leave the story and the character out of the bullsh*t. I wouldn't have had any complaints about parachutes, helicopters, and 8 new weapons in TlaD.

Many people that niko works with end up in jail or die, this is said when working for U.L. paper in a cutscene. niko bellic in my opinion seems to be the best character to play as during the main story missions in grand theft auto IV. lets not forget all of those funny quotes he says on the street, hailing cab- "well i see my invisibility shields are working" lol.

 

-Johnny Klebbitz-JOHNNY K, johnny's got a brother who serves in the army, at MAYBE around 10-15 years ago johnny took an oath to serve as a biker in the LOST motorcycle club. With us not having MUCH background on Johnny, it seems that he surrounds himself in fools, and does what he can for the lost MC and himself to live on. Johnny has a bad attitude like most bikers and gives the finger to society, the dialogue in TLAD was amusing, especially with johnny and malc going at it about, high tech precision japenese machinery vs. hard heavy metal american choppers. The storyline is obviously meant to give an idea of how modern biker gang life is like, and often refers much to how many of there own (brian, billy) become rats. johnny klebbitz to me is the character i play as the most bcause of the formidable gameplay which includes bikes SPECIFIC ONLY TO THAT EPISODE (double T custom) (hakakachou) (Bati 600) and guns UNOBTAINABLE in BOGT including street sweeper sawn off and auto mm.

 

~Luis Fernndo Lopez~-To me Luis seems to be a tough character, the idea of him working with a gay nightclub owner seems to have made sme of you fanboy's sense dull on him, LETS NOT FORGET that Luis did a bid in jail, made him buff and strong, he used to participate in the L.C. underground Cage fighting circuit and grew up in uptown algonquin living with his mother brother and sister. Early in Luis's childhood, him and his friends Armando and Henrique were exposed to drugs, and illegal narcotics, Luis was a drug deal for a somewhat- long part of his life until he was arrested. trying to stay away from crime Luis chose to start his life legit and try working as a nightclub manager at maisonette 9. Luis seems like a tought character and could be a worthy opponent again Johnny and Niko, nothing about luis's character dissapointed me.

 

In the overall Grand Theft Auto IV trilogy, my most favorite and who i thought was the best character was Johnny Klebbitz.

I chose Niko, obviously because he is the main character, you get to know him more. Luis was ok too, he's not you're typical hoodrat. And even though most of the time he's always serious and doesn't like to play around, at least he's smart, Armando, Henrique and Tony would be dead without him. He is the brains AND muscle of the operation.

Johnny I did NOT like, mainly because the whole biker thing is pretty lame and gay. And Johnny is smart and he could've been larger than life, but he chooses to be a bottom feeder with his "brothers" instead of taking them to the top. He was too soft on Brian and Billy, instead of looking out for his supposed "Brotherhood" he let it crash and burn when he knew it was bound to happen at the hands of Billy.
