Who do you play more ?

Niko Bellic, of course. One of my favourite characters of all time. Not only in GTA or video games but fiction.

Niko was better than Johnny due to being f*cking hilarious and Johnny being a little bitch for the first few missions, he was badass but Niko was better. Don't know enough about Luis yes but I doubt I will prefer him.

 

Oh and lol at all the people voting for a charcter because of his ethnic group or due to the minor bits of him we saw in the trailers and a few cutscenes.

Anyway, I am surprised that Johnny has such low votes. Thought he was a bit more popular than this.

I skimmed the thread gangsta and didnt check everyones posts but its bound to be a few others who think the same sadly.

 

 

Johnny was a bit of a moaning git. He had some great moments but his best was when he was with Jim, his humour then...if he was like that more throughout the game he would have be even better.

yes, Niko is definitely the most badass of all. I thought he was just a really cool guy. I could really relate to his attitude. He's nihilistic, and he gets annoyed by people's fakeness and stupidity. He's kind of like Holden Caulfield.

 

the only thing I didn't like about him was that he'd kill anyone for money. But I guess he had to, otherwise we wouldn't have a game. Maybe he just figures everyone sucks so they all deserve to die and he'll accept money from one loser to kill another loser.

 

But he did like some people. He liked Dwayne, he liked Kate (don't know why), he liked Jacob, he seemed like he kind of liked Packie.

 

Niko was just a cool guy.

 

Now Johnny...I don't know. I like him alright, but I don't respect him. The whole biker gang thing seemed real childish to me. And from the beginning of his story, it was obvious everyone was using him...Ashley, Billy, Ray....but he just keeps on doing favors for them.

 

He was just such a lowlife too. I'm not a snob but wow, he just reminded me of a raging meth addict...so did Jim...just some dumb greaseballs-like the cops who pushed them around said. Those cops were assholes but I have to agree with them about what they thought of Johnny & Jim.

 

That was just a depressing episode. I think they could have done a lot better of a DLC then TLAD, with a lot better plot, and a lot better character than Johnny's loser ass.

 

As for Luis, right now he's a stranger. To me, he's just some musclebound guy who kicks people's asses and stuff, but I think he will prove to be quite a cool guy once we get to know him.

He's a hired gun, what did you expect? Storywise, he mainly needed the money to pay back Roman's debt, which he later found out that he was wasting it all on gambling.

Niko, with Johnny being pretty close behind. Haven't even seen much of Luis at all to really even put him in the mix yet. People need to realize this poll isn't based off the game (which we really haven't seen much of or played yet either) it's based off the characters themselves. That's like me saying CJ was the best protagonist in GTA3 era because he could ride BMX bikes which is just stupid.

Sir or madam, I do believe you are the only guy/girl on these forums that doesn't like Niko "NB" Bellic. I'm sure most of us on GTAF would call him one of, if not the, best protagonist in Grand Theft Auto history.

Niko for me... I love the character, of all the GTA protagonists I feel like his personality is the most like my own... plus he was just great for the story... I think someone who is new to the setting works very well in GTA, makes it easier for the player to identify. While on one hand Johnny and Luis having lived in LC their whole lives makes sense considering that the player has already in theory experienced hours of LC through Niko... there's something in my mind that was lacking in TLAD that I think related to how Niko was always meeting new people. With Johnny he pretty much already knew everyone, though the player did not. While I felt like they did a nice job of really introducing Jim and Billy, and even Brian, to the player... I always felt like Johnny knew Terry and Clay a million times better than I did.

If Johnny's chapter wasn't so on it's last legs he would be my favorite yet. A short flashback mission where we see Johnny and The Lost kick some serious ass with a better president would've made it amazing for me but it wouldn't have been possible. but the part at the end where he just burns everything down, cuts his ties and all he has is a horrible flat, no money and his bike. Now if he kept his head high and said 'been hell of a week, huh?' happily jumped on his bike and the credits rolled he would have been super cool, but instead he just wondered off and it seemed like he wanted to kill himself. Weak.

 

As it is I prefer Niko , even if his complaining can get too much at times, especially if you complete the game and he's a millionaire with a downtown apartment and an infernus in the garage but he still complains about being poor. But that not his fault, that's the game really.

 

Luis I think may well be the strongest minded character. I guess we wait and see

What was wrong with him being an immigrant? Personally I think he's the best protagonist along side Tommy. I loved Niko's sarcastic yet subtle humor. He also wasn't afraid of getting his hands "dirty".

 

Can't comment on Johnny too much since I haven't played TLAD, but during his role in GTA IV he seemed pretty cool. There isn't alot on Luis to give me an opinion on him yet.

I like Luis, partly because he's half black like me, and it's nice to see a person of color as the main character (that doesn't sound like an extra from Friday... ahem... Carl Johnson) because it helps me roleplay which is what I do 80% of the time I play. Also because he's a blank slate, which is the opposite of what some of you like about the other guys. He doesn't seem over-saturated like the other characters. And he's a normal guy with a normal past. I could know Luis, but I doubt I could know someone like Johnny or Niko. Plus urban clothes are a nice addition.
