Just because they will still have their names doesn't mean the geography, story, era, weapons, cars, side missions, etc will be the same. Some people get turned off if people want to go back there but really, what is it? Because it's still named San Andreas and Vice City? I'll be happy to have something outside of the US but going back to SA and VC is best. We can't leave those two to the 90's and 80's era with a cartoonish story/gameplay. As I stated in another thread, I definitely think that Rocco Pelosi (the mobster in BOGT) will be making an appearence in the next GTA. There's a reason he was kept alive. I wanted to kill that bastard so bad, but I was never given the opportunity to. Many who wanted to kill Bulgarin eventually had their wish granted. Dimitri Rascalov got his just desserts and Billy Grey also got what he had coming to him. Aswell as Ray Boccino and many others. The point I'm trying to make is that those that deserve to die in GTA land always get their comeuppance. This guy survived and escaped Liberty City for a reason! Also, if Rockstar ever return to Vice City, I'd bet my bottom dollar that Jerry Kapowitz (the tramp that found the diamonds that left Liverty City to go and open a Guns and Liquor store in Vice City) will play a role in the story! As I said before, a good handfull of the existing characters will be used/reused in the next installment. There are several routes Rockstar could take. I guess we'll have to just wait and see which one! Eek! I fear I'm becoming the new Slamman with my random yet supposedly relevant posts! I know its good to make it more standalone and original, but there were some classic characters I would have loved seeing again. Although there is a website where you can see the guy from the radio in San Andreas, I can't remember his name but he was the "Wild Traveller", and it says he is in a prison in Bali. I like little things to connect it back to the previous games. I'd have loved it if Big Mitch Baker was in TLAD or even just mentioned by one of the bikers. Gay Tony knew Carl Johnson since he's been in Liberty for 25 years. It would have been nice to have those kind of references in it. EDIT: No country that is not an english speaking country would work. They would alienate a hell of a lot of people straight away. Would they all speak english? Would that make sense? Or would they all speaking their own language meaning we needed subtitles constantly? And besides there is not a single country in the world so ripe for parody as America. It could never be as funny. Chewie Posted November 2, 2009 Share Posted November 2, 2009 My opinion of France would be a little weird to go to because Rockstar would have to figure out how to translate everything, radio stations, cut scenes, pedestrians, anything in GTA. People are saying that they probably will go to Vice City or San Andreas. I doubt it because the story in Vice City has been explained. But Rockstar still hasn't explained all of San Andreas yet, there's still a lot of mysteries in the story, Brian Johnson, the person who killed CJ's Mom. Rockstar hasn't explained anything about Brian, he died, that's it. If they did make a San Andreas Stories, it would explain so much. I think that Rockstar will make another side video game like San Andreas or Vice City before they come out with GTA V. People would play the side game for a couple of years and then Rockstar would start to announce the next major game, Grand Theft Auto V. An hour long subtitled movie is okay OCCASIONALLY but seeing as the vast majority of the video game market (and the world) speaks English it would be pretty stupid to release a game this big dubbed INTO English. Not to mention that those folks at R* North speak English. A foreign Language game makes almost no sense. Firstly; it's extremely unlikely that the next GTA will be in a non-English speaking location. Secondly; even if it was, I'm about 99.9% sure that it would go the same route as movies and just have them speak English with an accent and an occasional word from the local language (See: almost every movie ever made). A hollywood movie isn't really a "foreign" movie in a lot of places - it's a movie. The entire world that doesn't speak English is already in the habit of reading English subtitles in games and watching dubs for movies, and the things that GTA is - the game of the Hollywood Movie, the game of the just-as-plastic media... I see people in other countries criticize American news for how hysterical and full of lies it is... which tells me it's different and two that they see it to know. They see all the worlds-stage controversies... the things that define public opinion worldwide and trickle into every facet of our societies... I would love MORE open world games on the quality of GTA, but when you do a game about the f*cked up and sickly media of today and the zombies that follow it, do that sh*t right where ya been doing it, cause that's the place to do it. Give me new titles, perhaps not even about crime but in the same engine doing the same type of things, but keep GTA focused hard-core toward the corrupt and twisted american media, and it's 3 main headquarters - regionally, npt "just" miami, not "just" nyc, not "just" cali. Anyway, came to the topic from google to say some things about what I have seen said about this Packie thing... Watched the credits of BoGT courtesy of GTANet's channel - I just want to say that while we can assume packie is in that plane, there were a couple of pieces of CS in between his going to the airport and that, possibly unrelated, airplane taking off. The airplane taking off, to me, was striking in that "this is it, the sky is the limit - from liberty to.. we'll tell ya later, but maybe you can figure it out" Not that they are saying this much with that take off scene alone, but just that the gist of it is that Packie probably made his way safely to Ireland and now we know that he's no longer a loose end when it comes to our speculations of future GTA story intermingling. I'm saying, packie's gone. Roman wanted to go to Miami, though. Lots of people did... The Bum did... with the diamonds.... If they tracked niko bellic that far, or however all that works out, why wouldn't they go find the sloppy bum? Sloppy because he was a bum, and now he's living rich, lavishly, and off of someone else's blood diamonds... Blood Diamonds, you say? Well they are, aren't they? There are tons of great movies that are set outside of the USA, and tons that are subbed. And recent trends show movies from Hollywood are becoming just squeals, remakes, and imports. In fact, most recent "American" movies are in fact Canadian, Japanese, Australian or New Zealand, and the popular "indie" trend comes from all over Europe. (This is not me being a film buff.) The fact of the matter is that Hollywood is no longer viable for big budget films. Some examples of this trend: Lord of the Rings and District 9 (NZ), Final Destination 3 and Max Payne (Canada), The Ring and The Grudge (Japan), Beetlejuice and The Matrix (Australia). I have plenty of friends from all around the world that all they know about the USA is what GTA shows. Most never watch any TV shows I've ever heard of (other than the imported shows we get from them) and the movies they watch. Heck, most of my Australian friends have no idea what "American Football" is, and that's all over the news every day here. But we sure know what Soccer and Rugby are here. Ever heard of Animé? (Japanese cartoons, nothing special in Japan.) The biggest fans in America prefer subbed over dubbed because you loose the meaning in the dubbing. The big misconception you seem to have here is that most Americans would shun GTA if it had to have subs. However, most Americans gamers have played and highly enjoyed games where there was no vocals what-so-ever and the entire game was basically subbed. (Think most RPGs, and almost half of the GTA games to date: 1, L69, L61, 2, Adv, and CtW) I know I'm not gonna change your mind, but it would be nice if you didn't try to speak for all Americans.
