Terminator 800
When the credits roll and they are showing all those cool little scenes, someone gets out of a taxi and it looks alot like Packie then in a later shot the plane is seen flying off to the North. So does this mean we'll be playing as Packie in the next game?
The Gaming Nerd
Maybe not the next player but maybe a returning character? Anyway isnt Vice City up north?
Terminator 800
Nah man Vice City is Miami. But I still think that a plane doesnt always fly straight to its destination
The Gaming Nerd
i just did the last mission again and the plane goes to north east so maybe Packie is just going to Ireland ?
sd13killer
the plane, if i am correct was flying Northeast out of the airport... which of new york is what... ireland? Thats where packie always said he wanted to go so now he goes... Packie's dream comes true and he goes to Ireland with the money from the bank deal... good for him I do not think the next gta will be in ireland or that packie will be a main character... Sicologikal
This symbolically means that this is the end of our & Rockstar's time in Liberty City. If you've seen Casablanca, you'll understand.
MC.
I hope he's not the next character.
i like coffee enemas
I doubt he'll be the next protagonist. As said a couple of posts back, Packie leaving was symbolic, not necessarily a hint towards the next game. He was simply heading to Ireland as he said he would eventually do during many conversations in Niko's story. He may, however, simply make a return in the next game. His friend, Gordon Sargent, seems the most likely out of all of the remaining characters to become the next protagonist though. Packie may simply become the Phil Cassidy of this GTA era. TGMOS
The fact that the plane heads off towards the Northeast is yet another clue pointing to the next GTA being in London/somewhere else in europe/overseas. Personally I think it'll be Vice City or London, but who knows.
AZAZEL
The fact that the plane takes off in a north eastern direction does not necessarily mean that its destination lies to the north east. Obviously the pilot has to take off in the direction the lane is pointed, but why wouldn't the plane change course once it clears the airport? Punk-in-Drublic
I think R* would make the next protagonist a new character like they have done in the past. Nothing at all points towards Packie imo.

Agreed. I don't get why people are so hung up over Packie and Gordon. Out with the old and in with the new I say.
andysniper
i think packie will just be a returning character, which is great as hes easily the best in IV. and if youre going on the northeast thing then at the angle the runway is we'll have the next gta set in... er... greenland. VickeX
Well, you guys seen this? http://translate.google.nl/translate?hl=nl...2Fnieuws%2F4182 Also, i don't think at all it hints that Packie would be the next protagonist. Rockstar has never done that. Sure they could... But nothing suggests it, and it doesn't feel right. He MIGHT be making an appearance in the next GTA, but it could just be that he's going back to Ireland aswell.
Punk-in-Drublic
Hmmm...France? Cant see that happening to be honest. I wouldn't mind seeing a London based GTA though.

But not a French one... Well i guess i wouldn't mind a London based one. Rockstar North and Rockstar Games always know what they're doing. But right now i just feel liek... and i've always felt that London hasn't been very good for a GTA story. I don't know. Read the article aswell. About the movie poster. It's really interesting. I think they're onto somethign at least. France have to have some part in the next GTA i believe.

HawkEyesUK
They should do a San Andreas style version of Britain. With half a dozen of the major cities dotted around. Although, I do really like the idea of a Parisian GTA.

Leo Colt
I'm skeptical of a foreign language based GTA on it's own, simply because a lot of the humour would be lost in translation. Maybe a secondary area, as Rockstar can take the piss while still having classic billboard gags and whatever in the English language area.

Maybe a secondary area, as Rockstar can take the piss while still having classic billboard gags and whatever in the English language area. I think it would be really cool for the cast to be French. As for the adverts and stuff like that, yeah, I can't think how it would work. They could make a lot of jokes that would be hidden or playing on English words, but I dunno. The biggest concern is how the radio would work in French, they couldn't exactly subtitle all of that. Sure, they could go with it all translated into English (with cheesy French accents), but I think that would severely cheapen the whole experience. It's an interesting concept though. Rockstar have created such a vast cast of characters this time round, I'd put money on that a handfull of the characters found in the story and LCPD database will be making an appearence/reappearence in the next GTA game. Look at the previous GTA era. The characters were recycled left, right and centre and it worked. Phil Cassidy appeared in 4 games and did he get boring? He most certainly did not. Would Packie get boring if he appeared in a couple more games? He most certainly wouldn't. There's absolutely no reason why Rockstar would create another entirely different universe and an entirely different cast of characters. I know you weren't implying that they would do this. Just giving my 2 cents, as it were. Edited November 1, 2009 by leelee862
HawkEyesUK
I honestly don't think Packie could work as a full-time character in a new GTA. Even if he's not the protagonist (which I doubt anyway), his backstory isn't determined. Throughout IV you get the choice of whether to kill Derrick or Francis and then of course there's Kate, whether she was murdered or not. It's not like these things could just be ignored either, particularly Kate. It's obvious that Kate meant more to Packie than anyone else, so her murder would be a big influence on his character and psyche even if it's not explored. It just couldn't work practically without ruining the options in IV.
KGBeast
France sounds awesome, I know a lot of Americans will not be happy, but really, people who don't live in the US have been waiting for a GTA not set here, so I think it would be a really good thing. ravensallday16
it's not likely we will play as Packie. the next GTA will likely be in a new setting with new friends/people to meet. a whole new atmosphere. R* haves to keep it fresh. maybe we may see a few old people here and there. like those who left LC to go else where.
The 7th Number
Some of you guys are ridiculous, just because a plane takes off north east doesnt mean its going on a straight rail to the destination. Also a plane cant turn like a car, so thats why it doesnt turn right away. As far as packie goes, it was probably symbolic like others have said. I wouldnt really want to play as Packie, so i hope its not a clue. I would rather play as Brucie or Yusef Amir.

i like coffee enemas
maybe we may see a few old people here and there. like those who left LC to go else where. Most def! As I stated in another thread, I definitely think that Rocco Pelosi (the mobster in BOGT) will be making an appearence in the next GTA. There's a reason he was kept alive. I wanted to kill that bastard so bad, but I was never given the opportunity to. Many who wanted to kill Bulgarin eventually had their wish granted. Dimitri Rascalov got his just desserts and Billy Grey also got what he had coming to him. Aswell as Ray Boccino and many others. The point I'm trying to make is that those that deserve to die in GTA land always get their comeuppance. This guy survived and escaped Liberty City for a reason! Also, if Rockstar ever return to Vice City, I'd bet my bottom dollar that Jerry Kapowitz (the tramp that found the diamonds that left Liverty City to go and open a Guns and Liquor store in Vice City) will play a role in the story! As I said before, a good handfull of the existing characters will be used/reused in the next installment. There are several routes Rockstar could take. I guess we'll have to just wait and see which one! Eek! I fear I'm becoming the new Slamman with my random yet supposedly relevant posts!
