lt_yao
Lets start the speculations I guess. TBOGT is out, there are a lot of references of Vice City in it: 1. Vice City FM - radio 2. Gay Tony mentioning on planing to run away there. Well my memory is kind of short, but I'm sure there were more Vice City being mentioned in the game. Could it possibly be R* hinting us that the next GTA might be set in VC again? I for one am not against this at all, I would really love to revisit VC again with the R.A.G.E. engine and a whole new story line.
socal000
I hope so! I really want Vice City to be the next location, not San Andreas. Look at GTA3 Liberty City and see what they could turn it into in GTA4, so imagine what could be done with Vice City! I really want Vice City again. San Andreas, I would hate that as the next GTA, and I would be alright with another new city, but I would definitely prefer Vice City.

Tipper
Please anywhere but Vice City. If it isn't set in the 80s like VC it's gonna suck. I mean come on, what about the soundtrack? They will either put new musics from the 80s (and given the fact that they already had the best in VC/VCS/EFLC (Vice city FM), I have doubts about the music) or use music from previous GTA again. I wouldn't mind San Andreas, but Vice City... R* already did all that can be made out of it

socal000
Alright, to all you idiots, it's my opinion. You want San Andreas, then that's your opinion. I hate san andreas and want vice city, thats my opinion, deal with it. R* already did all that can be made out of it And how do you know that? Tipper
"And how do you know that?" What was interesting about Miami? The 80s, with references to Scarface ans Miami Vice, music, beaches, sun. I really can't figure what they could do for the new Vice City. IMO, it will be either a remake of the original Vice City or a truly new Vice City, but how? With what references? With what soundtrack? I don't hate Vice City, but there could be a lot of other locations where R* could do something really new. GTA IV setting was very different from GTA III's, but I can't figure could a new Vice City. be original

See a difference? So they could do a completely new vice city like what was done with Liberty City.

Chinatown Wars
Ok, I wouldn't mind any city besides Liberty City. Yes, there is a good chance if they brought it to any location where GTA was before, but what if they EXPANDED San Andreas? What if they expanded Vice City to the size of GTA 4? Think about it for a second. And also consider this, WHAT IF THEY PUT ALL 3 CITIES IN IT LIKE GTA 1?! Does it matter what city it is in? All gta's are fun, even the old ones. Me, I really wouldn't care if they even put it in Paris or London, still who gives a care? What if they remake GTA 2 with bigger maps? Think about all of that. And stop posting stuff on who hates what city because its annoying and will start a big argument which will lead nowhere. Rockstar may also be Sh*ttin with us, so yeah. Velcro
Vice City was mentioned a lot throughout the game. Then again, so was Las Venturas, San Fierro, and Los Santos. Its too early to know anything for sure. The next GTA could take place on Mars for all we know. And France has one of the lowest crime rates in the western world. How on Earth could you make a GTA there? Edited November 1, 2009 by Velcro
Terror-Inferno
I think Vice City would look good if it was done similar to how Liberty City was recreated from GTA III to GTA IV.
Star-Lord
I think Vice City would look good if it was done similar to how Liberty City was recreated from GTA III to GTA IV. I completely agree man. It would be so beautiful, I mean don't get me wrong GTAVC looked awesome on the PC, Now imagine how sick it would look on the RAGE engine. It would freaking blow our minds away. It will be amazing and surpass everything they've done before. GTA: Vice City will fly off the shelves quicker than you can say, Holy sh*t Hallelujah! Vice City! @tjawzy- Thanks for those kind words of wisdom.

RomanViking
New York City has more to offer than Miami. Tokyo and Hong Kong even more than NYC. To me: Tokyo > Hong Kong > New York City > San Firancisco > London > Paris > Los Angelas > Las Vegas > Miami In terms of sights to see, people to meet, things to experience, Miami is dead last. It's just some modern condos, next to the beach. The burning, skin-cancer-creating sun may reflect off some shiny office towers, and you ignorant fools may go: Ohhh and AWWW, but that's it. In Miami, there's no vast underground metro system (NYC, Tokyo, London). There's no dense red light districts (Tokyo, London), there's no iconic landmarks (NYC, London, San Francisco, Paris, Las Vegas), and there's no amazing areas (Times Square, Shibuya Crossing, Kabukicho, SoHo, Piccadilly Circus, etc...). Miami is just: the beach, modern office and apartment towers, and some palm trees. It is NOT the king of nightlife, Tokyo's nightlife is about 100 times greater than Miami. All you guys have put forward as reason is OMG THE SAND REFLECTING THE SUN OFF THE ART DECO IS SOOO PUUUURTY!!!

Tokyo would be annoying with the language barrier. I mean, How could R* make tokyo, and have everything understandable in english, while still keeping it Japan with japanese. It would be very hard with any country speaking another language. Vice City would be the best, Miami has many "amazing areas" (which I think you just made up with your own opinion) and Miami has Iconic Landmarks, with just about every other city in the world. Next time, please do some research on Miami before saying it has nothing.
RomanViking
You haven't given any examples of what Miami offers either. And it wouldn't the language that prevents them from doing Tokyo, it would be the tech limit. They couldn't even get Times Square and Chinatown in Liberty City right Give me some amazing areas of Miami. I didn't make up my examples. Piccadilly, Shibuya, SoHo are REAL places

And here are examples of Miami: -Brickell Avenue -Port of Miami -Villa Vizcaya -"The Metro" (Which I believe you said Miami didn't have) -Julia Tuttle Causeway -Bank of America Tower -The Kampong -"MiMo Architecture" -The Freedom Tower -Performing Arts Center Shall I go on? Typhus
I think that there are so many refrences to Vice City that it is probably a red herring. This doesn't mean that GTA will leave America any time soon but I just don't think that Rockstar will make the most obvious choice. My bet is that it will be San Fierro in the 1960s. Hippies, cult-leaders, serial killers, the anti-war crowd. It could be very good.
Algonquin Assassin
I don't know if it's just me, but even though TBOGT is set in Liberty City it actually has a Vice City-ish vibe to it, and what it could be like if given a modern day makeover. It's doubtful R* have been so blatant, but alot of TBOGT seems like R* have teased with what a current gen Vice City could be like. I just wish they would announce the next GTA god damn it. GamerShotgun
I have to agree with your opinion. TLaD gave us some new experience, as we didn't ever play as a biker in any GTA games. But TBoGT gave pretty much everything what was been good in Vice City back then. The soundtrack, the characters, the vibe and the action... and I didn't even talk about the features. My bet is that Rockstar this time did a hybrid of Vice City and San Andreas, and they are going to move along with a new city, which hasn't been done yet... or maybe London, but that would be the first time we get a city with it's original name, in Grand Theft Auto's 3D era. Although that's not really a reason to not to do it, I'm still going with the new city stuff, as Rockstar employees have already stated that they WANT to go to Europe in this franchise... Oh and one more thing about VC being the next city: Would you like to play as a totally new guy in a totally new Vice City, where Tommy Vercetti isn't even a known person? Because judging from GTAIV, they don't really want to bring back old characters... and that would be just lame, considering all we know about VC is that Tommy had enough businesses, to even own the whole city. Patrick McReary
I would heavily dislike for it to be set in the 80's again or for it to be in Vice City. I'd love to see only Los Santos in the present day... or something in the late 60's when there was a lot of political unrest. IT was the BEGINNING of rock! So you'd know there would be some good radio.

Everybody says that if you do vice city it should be in the 80s because thats when the crime and drugs were. But why does GTA have to be based off something real happening in a time period? Why can't R* go ahead and make up their own version of some huge crime problem? A lot of you people saying that are the ones that want unrealistic stuff (see the "Unrealistic Cheats" post for an example)so why does it have set in a time period that had many crime events in the real world?
