Osric
Ah, the 1990's. A time of wonder and excitement. A decade that saw the death of the Cold War and the birth of the online world. A time of prosperity. A time where video games were truly gold, Sega died(sadly), Sony came of age, and Nintendo had one last hurrah before going down the crapper. Arcades were in boom and 3D gaming premiered. This decade saw the life of my two favorite consoles, the Sony Playstation and the SNES. The fourth and fifth generations of gaming flourished and helped bring games into what they are today, from the childhood novelties of the 70's and 80's to the storytelling format it is today. Here's my list of the best games released from 1990-1999. What's yours? Resident Evil 2 Crash Bandicoot: Warped Spyro: Year of the Dragon Resident Evil 3 Army Men 3D Army Men: Sarge's Heroes Resident Evil DOOM Lethal Enforcers 2 Time Crisis Syphon Filter 2 Syphon Filter Lethal Enforcers Dino Crisis CarnEvil The House of the Dead Mortal Kombat II Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Mortal Kombat Trilogy Street Fighter II Super Mario World Crash Team Racing Crash Bandicoot Area 51 Mortal Kombat 4 Final Doom Doom II Wolfenstein 3D The House of the Dead 2 Mort the Chicken Double Dragon Digimon World 2 Mad Dog McCree The Last Bounty Hunter Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Age of Empires Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi Crypt Killer Crash Bash Edited November 1, 2009 by Osric

Mainland Marauder
Sorry, I must be thinking of Final Fight, that was 1991 I think. The SNES version was, but the arcade version came out near the end of 1989. Close enough - just like the gameplay of both were close enough. I need to dig out Super Metroid again, indeed that was awesome. "You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be." IceWolf729
I never had any console, only PC and the first games I played were first person shooters, I think these were the best: Quake 1,2 and 3 Duke Nukem 3D Shadow Warrior Half-Life (+Opposing Force) and GTA 2 (I just started playing it recently, now being a free download, it's pretty good, although somewhat strange for me to play from a top-down perspective, as I started playing GTA in 2003, starting with Vice City) More good games: Need For Speed 3 Tomb Raider 1,2 and 3 Special awards go for Wolfenstein 3D, Doom1&2 for creating and revolutionizing FPS (the way Quake and Half-Life did) and I can also mention Blood 1&2, simply for good old-school shooting and (somewhat weird) humor. Most of these games are legendary now for making something interesting and unique, and most of them can still be enjoyed today; I highly recommend them for anyone who likes these genres . Bernard Jazz
I loved Crash Bandicoot, I can't believe I swapped it for another game as well.. I think it was V-Rally which was also a decent game once you got used to the handling. I was also a stupendous fan of the original pokémon games, I'd actually play my red version if I knew where the hell it was. And finally, Total Annihilation which in my opinion is still one of the best RTS games to date.
