The Future of the Protagonists

This topic contains SPOILERS you have been warned!

Now that we have Episodes from Liberty City and the majority of us have finished it what do you think will happen to our IMPOSSIBLE TRINITY protagonists as we leave Liberty City for good?

NIKO BELLIC has two possible outcomes:

1) Deal - He loses his favorite cousin, his only possible family tie, he is slightly wealthier, he kills his nemesis and loses the girl he loves.

- Will he move away?

- Are the remnants of the Pegorino family out to get him?

- Does he eventually tell Packie that he killed his brother?

- Will Dmitri's allies continue to attack him?

2) Revenge - He kills his nemesis, is still poor, still loses the girl he loves, and effectively wipes out a Mafia family.

- Are the remnants of the Pegorino family out to get him?

- Will he eventually tell Packie that he killed his brother?

- Will Dmitri's allies continue to attack him?

- Will he be finally arrested for his hundreds of murders, thousands of car jacks and millions of weapons offenses? (as the LCPD wanted him in for questioning at the end of the game.)

JOHNNY KLEBITZ has disbanded the Alderney Chapter of the TLMC at the end of TLAD but:

- What will he do to make a living?

- Are the Angels of Death still out to get him?

- Are the Triads of Algonquin out for revenge for the death of their boss?

- Are there still club members still loyal to Billy Grey/Brian Jeremy?

- Are the Broker club pissed off with Johnny about what happened at the Diamond deal?

- Will Congressman Stubbs sort him out with a job?

- How will he look after Jackie Fitzgerald and her kid if he has nothing left?

LUIS LOPEZ killed Bulgarin at the end of TBOGT but:

- What about Rocco Pelosi and Old Man Ancellotti?

- Will he have to answer for shooting Uncle Vince?

- What will they do with the clubs shut down?

- What do you think will happen to Gay Tony?

- Will he go with Yusef back to UAE to run his nightclubs etc?

- Will he end up like Armando & Henrique selling drugs in Northwood?

- Will he be arrested for what would be seen as terrorist attacks on the city?

Dicuss your thoughts and speculations!

It wouldnen't kill him to use tags man.

I've quoted at the start of the topic in RED that the topic contains spoilers and that there was spoilers inside the topic?!

I personally believe the Deal ending is the better ending out of the two, so I am going to base my beliefs off of that.

Niko

---

He would stay in Liberty City to support Mallorie and her child more than anything else. He would continue to do criminal activities most likely, as he knows nothing else. When he isn't killing and stealing for money, he would probably be getting hopelessly drunk with Packie, Dwayne and Jacob.

Pegorino family most likely doesn't even exists after Jimmy's death, but if Phil Bell did continue to run it he wouldn't mess with Niko. There is no need to worry about Dimitri's associates and allies continuing to attack Niko, as they all most likely died protecting Dimitri and Bulgarin.

He wouldn't even consider telling Packie the truth, as it would cause nothing but problems between them, regardless of which brother he assassinates.

I also believe that he could somehow find redemption through Kate, but mostly would have a mindset that those he loves all die because of him, and would care too much for her because of her innocence.

Johnny

---

Johnny is extremely disillusioned after the events of TLAD, and possibly suicidal as he has lost everything he held dear to him. Sure, he still has Angus, Terry and Clay, but they most likely would go over to the Broker chapter while Johnny would remain solo. The only thing I could see him doing is possibly becoming some sort of enforcer for Stubbs, if he could get over the fact that he would be working for a politician full time.

Luis

---

Luis and Gay Tony pay off the officials and get the clubs re-opened. From there they become partners with Yusef and make enough money to pay off Rocco and Ancelotti, and then cut their ties with them for good. Luis would most likely continue to support his mother and possibly Armando and Henrique.

Niko - I believe following the end of Niko's story, he goes in for questioning following Roman/Kate's death, since Niko has nothing left, he would probably hand himself in, I dont feel that Niko will ever have a happy ending

Johnny - Johnny would probably leave Liberty City, The Lost seemed the only thing keeping him there, he would probably move to another city and maybe open up a bike shop or something, sending the money he earns to Jim's family

Luis and Gay Tony - I think that Luis, Gay Tony and Yusef would go into buisness with each other, Tony would buy Bahama Mamas and maybe move Maisonette 9 or Hercules there, from the end of the Ballad of Gay Tony it looked like they would both have a 'happy ending'

Wish that would have happened at the end of TBOGT. Then you could go to Bahamma Mama's.

They could have made it so Tony calls you after the credits and tells you he bought BM and wants you to run it.

2) Revenge - He kills his nemesis, is still poor, still loses the girl he loves, and effectively wipes out a Mafia family.

- Are the remnants of the Pegorino family out to get him?

He won't be quite so poor by the end of the game, he'll have a ton of money from the bank job as well as thousands of dollars from other jobs, he may become the owner of a penthouse (if he chooses to kill Playboy X) and will get an Infernus from Bryce as well.

I don't think there would be anyone to "avenge" Pegorino as he was small time (compared to the other families) and the Commission always thought of him as a "joke".

- Will he eventually tell Packie that he killed his brother?

I'm pretty sure he would never do that as it would just cause trouble between them.

- Will Dmitri's allies continue to attack him?

I've always thought Bulgarin would continue to attack him (not for Dimitri but for the diamonds and for his ship being seized), but now we know he's dead too as Luis killed him. I highly doubt there would be anyone left to "avenge" him, he doesn't have family, he was never a loyal friend or business partner to begin with. A lot of people would probably be happy as they'd have a chance to take over his businesses.

- Will he be finally arrested for his hundreds of murders, thousands of car jacks and millions of weapons offenses? (as the LCPD wanted him in for questioning at the end of the game.)

That's a good question but I don't think so. He's got some protection from the ULP, and from Francis who becomes police commissioner by the end of the game (unless Niko chooses to kill him). Not to mention each time Niko gets "arrested" they just let him off with a bribe (although you could argue that's just a game mechanic to keep the game from ending).

That said, with nobody "hunting" him anymore, no loan sharks after his cousin, I think he would just leave the life of crime and "start making money, freely" with his cousin. Maybe one day they would get out of the taxi business (which wasn't exactly 100% legit) and open that "classy restaurant". After years and years they will finally buy a big mansion, more luxury cars and women with big titties (when Mallorie's not around at least). He might occasionally go back to doing dirty deeds for ULP or Francis though just to stay out of jail. tounge2.gif

Well, that assuming Francis stays alive, if he dies, I think Niko would have a lot more trouble with the LCPD unless the new commissioner is another crook like Francis.

Same as above I don't think there would be anyone to avenge Dimitri or Pegorino and Bulgarin dies too before he can get revenge on Niko.

I don't think he will move away. I think he will take over a part of his cousin's business and leave the crime world (unless Francis drags him back into it from time to time) and also support Mallorie's child since he will feel guilty for not killing Dimitri sooner. He will probably invest the money from all those jobs in something too. And I think Kate will one day forgive Niko and marry him in the end.

In the closing credits of TBoGT, Packie is seen going into the airport, apparently leaving the city. If he's gone then Niko doesn't have to reminded of that secret every day.

I'm going by my choices in IV, I haven't played TLAD or BOGT, so I've left those out.

My choices...

Niko kills Playboy X, Derrick, Darko, and gets revenge on Dimitri and Pegorino.

With protection from ULP and Francis, Niko is able to go legit and live with Roman and Mallorie. They leave Liberty City for good and go somewhere else to live the American Dream.

With Bulgarin, Faustin, and Rascalov dead, Kenny Petrovic takes over the remnants of the Faustin Bratva, while the Commission Families take over Pegorino's businesses. Phil Bell now works for one fo the Commission Families, probably the Ancelottis, and is trying to get things in order.

This is conjecture and speculation on my part, but.....

Johnny leaves Liberty City for good, heading to San Andreas to start his own chapter of the Lost.

Luis Lopez becomes the owner of Masionette 9, while Gay Tony pays off the Ancelottis and opens up new clubs in Vice City.

Use spoiler tags I finished TLAd and IV but Im not done BOGT

dude he clearly stated that there are spolers dozingoff.gif

Some people have only beated IV and not the DLCs. Stop being ignorant.

2) Revenge - He kills his nemesis, is still poor, still loses the girl he loves, and effectively wipes out a Mafia family.

He's not poor. He gets the money from the deal anyway (he steals it?). In fact, even without that money he's rich as hell. And the Pegorino's that are left wouldn't go after him but probarly look for something else to do like Phil Bell did.

SPOILERS

In my opinion, the "Revenge" ending makes loads more sense than "Deal", both logically and symbolically. Niko thinks that he has a way out of his criminal lifestyle when he meets Kate. He believes that if he kills Dimitri, he'll be able to finish off his loose ends and move on from crime. Instead, Pegorino, a man desperate for power and wealth, retaliates by destroying the one thing Niko can use as motivation to leave the crime life. I'd imagine that after killing Pegorino on Happiness Island, Niko continues to work for Roman's company, albeit morosely. I'd imagine that he'd continue doing criminal jobs like carjacking and petty drug dealing, since his new mentality is that he can never leave his criminal ways behind, so he might as well capitalize. Perhaps one day, Niko gets out of the country that he's become so disillusioned with over the course of his adventure. Maybe he goes back to his mother.

Johnny, on the other hand, is in the opposite situation. He has become disillusioned because the only system that made sense to him has been completely corrupted and destroyed. Greed, anger and betrayal have led to him having to execute his own leader in order to save himself from life imprisonment, and it comes as a shock to him since things were actually going well for the gang while Billy was in rehab. Although his chapter of The Lost is destroyed, he still wears his uniform jacket, most likely because of a deep pride he had for what the organization, and biking in general, once meant to him. Now, it is overrun with intolerant drug addicts (The Angels of Death), or corporate sellouts (The Uptown Riders). I'd imagine that Johnny will leave the City behind, riding off into the sunset, not knowing what's next.

Luis is the only protagonist to come out on top, and that is because his personality, and story, ties in with the ridiculous nature of America that Niko grew to despise over the course of his adventure. While Niko and Johnny's stories are relatively realistic (other than the body counts), most of the situations Luis gets himself into are highly out of the ordinary, and he is always willing. His story becomes a pure example of the American satire Rockstar has implemented in the GTA world, but because of this, Luis thrives in the end, letting it all come to a spectacular finish, where he saves his best friend, kills the bad guy, and walks off in the end with companions in hand, satisfied and happy. I'd imagine that Luis would continue to thrive as the nightclubs reopened, and maybe he'd even become a millionaire after doing deals with Yusuf. As for Tony, he's probably going to move out west somewhere, maybe Las Venturas or San Fierro, and open a business with a new boyfriend.

I think that one of the messages of all the stories combined is that while these three guys did everything they could to stay on top of their individual criminal worlds, in the end, their endeavors were mostly for naught. They'll continue to live amongst seedy people, despite the fact that they're smarter and better than most of those that they encounter. They can fight and kill and do whatever they think will help, but eventually, the most unlikely person will actually come out on top and discover the so-called "American Dream": The homeless man who finds the diamonds in the trash.

PS- I'm aware that most of the decisions Rockstar made, such as Johnny still wearing the jacket and TBoGT being so over the top were probably not for such artistic or symbolic purposes, but I do love to speculate on the possible themes every little detail could mean, even if it wasn't on purpose. Thanks for reading!

Makes more sense to me too because that's just the way Niko is, always out for revenge and sees killing as a way to fix almost any dispute. He couldn't let go of something that happened 10 years ago, he killed loan sharks to protect his cousin, he also killed Vlad, so he definitely wouldn't let Dimitri live.
