To the stuff about the 2nd amendment, could you imagine what the USA would be like if there were no 2nd amendment? I'm just thankful I live in Georgia, can buy rifles at 18, and you don't even need a license for a suppressor.....

Unimaginable, oh nevermind I lived in the south. Yeah, the second amendment is good, but only because it enforces freedom of the people to actually overthrow an unconstitutional government (Much like the one we have today). God I love America.

Makes you think twice about the Second Amendment, dunnit?

The second amendment was a little different than you think.

This is what most people think it is

the right of the people to keep and bear Arms!

Here is the reality

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed

What I am saying is the amendment does not mean stockpile loads of ammunition so you and bubba can have some fun when the boys get over. It means Every community has the right to own personal firearms for revolutionary reasons to overthrow an unfair and unconstitutional government. Don't know why I felt like explaining that, but go ahead and learn it for future reference.

On the topic of militia, when I lead a small group of Chileans through into Argentina to take down a small village containing the families of some drug runners that destroyed our plantations, my men were carrying Ak-47's.

I thought it was the right to arm bears

Not every person's opinion of a great country is the same as yours. I personally prefer India to the US. There are also some really sweet places in South America and even Africa. Even Mexico is pretty cool.

There will always be people who want to leave the country they were born in, but can't due to their own reasons. There are many Americans who migrate permanently you know.

Yeah, it might be great if you have money to begin with. However if you don't, you'll be living in a shanty town. Plus, why would a communist such as yourself enjoy a country getting raped even harder by multinational corporations than the U.S?

So we went out and shot our SKS today, and we rented a Smith&Wesson M&P 45 because their colt M1911 was out for cleaning. The SKS worked awesomely even though the ammo was 20 years old, all 25 Russian made commie rounds fired with the exception of one misfire. The M&P 45 was an amazing shoot, and for my first 10 round mag, I got 5 in the chest and 4 in the head (one was to the left) I think that was pretty good for my first time shooting a .45, also a shell casing hit the lane divider, hit my head, and then my arm, that burned......We also bought a .22 bolt action with a 20rd Banana magazine at dicks sporting goods for 149.99 for plinking, it came with a scope, so that's a GREAT price, manager even knocked 10 bucks off for a military discount. I'm attaching pictures of our SKS and our new .22, I have a stock photo of a M&P 45

Yea, they were small on tinypic.com (Sounds redundant doesn't it?) but my phone takes images 9 fold larger than they need to be...but yea, overall a really fun day, especially shooting the .45.....f*cking exhilarating.

Ok...you have slight point. But if I am in a situation where I am going up against someone wearing a vest, I am going to be better repaired than some Joe Bananas with a concealed carry because I will likely know I am going into said situation. In which case, my sidearm would still be a .45...but it would probably be something along the lines of H&K Mk. 23. or a Glock 21 for capacity. But again, that would just be a sidearm in a somewhat combat ready situation. I would have a rifle and it would be something along the lines of a high capacity, fast fire, super light sub-machine gun (call me crazy, but it would be a P90). Besides, at that point, I would not so much worry about the other guys wearing a vest and my low velocity, heavy rounded sidearm not going through vests.

My point is really, if I wanted a sidearm to carry on a daily basis, I would carry a 10mm, .40, or, and most preferably, the .45. If I get into a situation in the real world, the daily life world, something bad is going to happen at close range. I am going to hit my target within 3 shots or I am dead. And if, IF he is wearing a vest, I am not worried about putting 38 damn rounds into non-vitals. I am worried about being able to hit him anywhere, including the vest, and knocking him on his ass. When I am standing and he is recovering or wondering why there is a 4 inch exit wound on his calf, I will have time to reload and/or shoot him in the face.

My theory, size is better.

Well, if I knew I was going up against someone with a vest, I'd bring one of the ARs full of m855. And it would probably also be time to strap a colander to my face. The extra capacity in the plastic space nine is in case I'm surprised by armored foes at times when carrying a rifle will upset the Eloi. Then of course there's also the chance of facing hostiles who are known to travel in packs.

I'm not arguing the 9mm is better. Just different. From a best-defense-is-a-good-offense standpoint, the bigger round wins for sure. I prefer the flexibility of extra smaller rounds. Though I might split the difference and get a .40 one of these days.

Makes you think twice about the Second Amendment, dunnit?

Nothing wrong with a little chlorine in the gene pool every once in a while.. tounge.gif

I've been looking up a lot of ballistics studies in comparing 9mm vs. .45 ACP and .357 mag in order to choose a gun for CCW, and from what I've sen, all of the rounds have lethal penetration potential of 13 inches or more. True the .45 ACPs and .357s may penetrate much further than 13 inches which implicates a practical use for situations where body armor needs to be penetrated, but when considering that most body armor is designed to be able to take all three types of rounds it seems that's irrelevant. And while I haven't researched body armor that much, I understand it has a problem with "bunching up" when multiple rounds hit it, so in that case more ammunition may just be the answer versus more stopping power.

I've compared various wound channel diagrams from all three rounds and from what I've seen the expansion of 9mm hollow points is sufficient to mimic the total expansion of a .45 caliber bullet and create a virtually identical wound channel The .357 creates a bit of a deeper penetration but also creates about the same wound profile.

Ultimately with all of my research I concluded that the rounds were so much alike that it would be better to focus on capacity, afford-ability and shootability versus stopping power. With that in mind the field defintely narrowed between 9mm and .45 ACP, but if you're asking me I would go with .45 ACP just for the "insurance" that it will have the stopping power, especially since I was considering .357 magnum instead and the round capacities for .45 ACP are much higher.

Thank you, infact the .45 I shot today, the M&P 45 actually had a 10 round mag + 1 in the chamber. So it isn't like all 45s are going to be an 8 round maximum. Also, to those people who say that the recoil of the .45 is to much I call bullsh*t. I'm 15, this was the first time I shot a .45 and out of 10 shots, 5 in the chest, 4 in the head at 30 yds. Keep in mind there was also a guy 2 lanes down from me shooting some type of "Hand cannon" revolver, and when he shot, you felt in in your chest. It actually scared me when I was reloading the SKS, I thought a round had gone off while I was loading the mag. Luckily when I dropped it, the table type thing caught it and it didn't hit the floor. So I had that scaring me when I was shooting the .45. So all in all the REASON I like .45s is because of amazing stopping power, hand-able recoil, accurate, and most guns have a moderate mag capacity. Also the ammo isn't that expensive. We bought 50 rounds of .45ACP for 20-25 bucks. Same as 9mm. So grow a pair and go for the .45...

My buddy Dan and I were out in the woods earlier. A raccoon had crawled into my jeep. I grabbed the Glock 30 and got up close to my Jeep. I cracked the door open and had Danny hit the plastic rear window to try and scare him out. That little f*cker started right for me. I stared back peddling away from him and managed to get a shot off before I fell on my ass. I hit it right in the hump on its back. The round exploded out of its ass reigon splitting it down the center pretty good. It didn't quite kill it though. It started making some horrid noises and was crawling towards me. I actually felt kinda bad at that point.

DE ammo is actually like 40$ per 20 rnds. A quick look over some different FFL ammo shops I buy from the average I'm seeing is 1.80$ per round. It definitely varies, but paying 4$ a round is a bit over the top.

If you pay more then 2$ per round you are getting screwed IMO.

Not necessary, depends on what type of ammunition he was buying or what size it is. I think the .50AE is like $25 a round... The Desert Eagle shoot a verity of ammo. It also could have had a high grain count, or possibly tracers. Speaking of ammo, is it just me or has it come back down some? When we bought my .22 we also got some 7.62 for our SKS and it was.... $4 for 20 rounds.

EDIT: Cheaper than dirt has 20 .50AE rounds for $35.90. Was that what you shot Lithium?

Reminds me of when I shot the Desert Eagle, man that thing was loud..and expensive to shoot. It was like $45 bucks for 10 rounds!!! FFS...I must say the 1911 springfield .45 is much better and nicer to shoot icon14.gif

I don't really know what kind of ammo it shot. I know I more than likely got ripped off, but it's not every day you get to shoot one of those. Well not in Canada atleast. icon13.gif

True, but the states are only a border away though, haha. That's why I'm thankful I live in the south, you don't even need a license to buy/own a suppressor and you can buy a rifle at 18.

But there are also a lot more deaths by firearms in the U.S. ...as much as I'd love to have a sh*t ton of guns, maybe it's for the best that everyone up in our igloos don't have a bunch lol.

True, but we do have the weapons to defend ourselves. So if some mugger pulls a knife/gun on me I can pull out my .45 to blow his left leg into pieces to defend myself. With great power comes great responsibility. Gun control will only make the situation worse. We should worry about anti-VIOLENCE instead of anti-gun.
