I know it's probably a bit of a long-shot, but does anyone British based here (preferably London/SE England), know of a comprehensive list of clubs/ranges which do 'clay-pigeon' shooting?

I've decided my new activity for this year will be clay-pigeon shooting, and just looking for a starting point. Not holding out much hope as I believe it's mostly US folk in here, but worth a try I suppose.

Cheers.

Yes, I do anticipate meeting a few of those types whilst out and about. And with my London accent I doubt they'd be too impressed. I expect I shall be staring up a few noses... sigh.gif

I'll be honest, once I started stripping and going through the internals of the gun, all I could think of is Big Boss's 1911.

A Norinco? I didn't even know they were allowed to import anything. Or maybe it's just their spooky looking rifles that can't be.

But, yea, all the custom work alone is probably worth more than you paid for the whole thing.

My best guess is that this was imported before 1993. They had a booth at the 2008 SHOT show, and they're opening a US plant apparently, so maybe in 2009-10 we'll be swimming in $399 M14s.

That's probably why you want to equip it with a suppressor. May I advise you to try to make your own. The learning process should be fun if nothing else. And it's the real men way icon14.gif

Can you post a picture of your 1911 from the left side? I want to see the rest of it, please smile.gif

Suppressors are way more heavily regulated stateside than most places. I would like to make a couple if I could get the prerequisite legal stuff done.

Now that's sexy. So you're gonna change the barrel with an extended one that allows a suppressor? Guns, that's where all the fun in the world is. That, and sex.

The thing about making a suppressor: No one knows you are making one. So as long as you keep it to yourself you got nothing to worry about. So go for it. If you get busted or something, tell them a forum troll made you do it...

I don't think people in my country care about guns and laws on guns much. I could get an RPG. Sure I probably can't find one of those everywhere, but my point is, even if I find it, I don't think anyone would care. It's like everyone's high on fresh air or something. They don't give a f*ck. It's amazing!

I've always wanted a suppressed .45.

Why do you want/need a suppressed pistol?

Well, what's a suppressed pistol designed for...

Probably from being brainwashed by movies and games that suppressors are awesome.

Suppressors ARE awesome

I never understood why people like chromed suppressors for sniper rifles. I mean, if you wanna snipe, you will probably do it from the distance. And chromed suppressor could reflect the sun flash and give away your position. But people are idiots and I gave up hope a long time ago....

By the way, I just found this picture. It's great

El bumpo, I've been getting more and more interested in guns lately, it's a shame the Aussie government are such nazi's about ownership and equipment. They've nerfed pretty much every weapon and banned most things like hollow points and suppressors.

Bah, I'm going shooting for the first time in a couple of weeks, really looking forward to it, I will probably end up buying a handgun of some sort eventually, I love the look of the Jericho 941. Anyone got any good recommendations for a small caliber rifle, for plinking and possibly rabbit shooting?

Bad news bro, your never going to get your hands on an assault rifle in Australia lol.

@asimov: My understanding is that you can only own rifles if you live on a farm, you can own shotguns no matter where you live, but nothing better than an over-under or a double barreled shotgun. As far as I know for handguns, you can buy them but they have to be locked in a safe at a gun range and you cant take them home. Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif Howard really f*cked us in the ass when it comes to guns. And most other things for that matter.

Australia is strange.

In Brazil, you can have handguns, non-automatic rifles and shotguns. As far as I know, you can start taking shooting classes (wich are needed to own a gun) when you are 16 and, when you pass a shooting exam, you are rewarded with the gun's license and you can have it at your house. If you need to transport it, you need to take the gun at the trunk of your car, without any ammo, and the magazine at the front.

Also, I'm gonna start shooting classes next month. I already shot a couple of times with an horrible pistol, but this time I'll start shooting with Glocks probably. f*ck yes!

Any of you people ever been shot at or witnessed a shooting?

I've seen acceidental and "on-purpose" shootings, and I've had shots fired in my general direction.

I've also had the police pull their guns on me because of a misunderstanding.

I have had shots fired in my direction before, i doubt they where aimed at me cause i would have probably been dead right now. Moral of the story do not trust blacked out BMW's driving slowly through rough neighborhoods at night.

Tell me more about your stories Murdoc.

This is the most vague question I ever seen.

I've seen a few advertisements in Manchester recently for a gun shop in the back of a convention center. After looking into it a little, it turns out it's owned by Ronnie Barrett, and they have the entire Barrett line-up in stock.

None of it's for sale (most of what they sell are used rifles from other manufactures), but it should make nice eye-candy next time I head up there. And don't worry, I'll take a camera.

Does it count as my own if it's mine, but not registered to me? I don't even know who it's registered to. I've never shot it before neither, but i've aimed at certain things.
