You wouldn't really have to, it's on the last few pages among others. It also depends what you want, firearm wise. Perhaps yo could give us some more information?

Illspirit, I am really worried about the prices aspect. I like to buy used, but there are some things.. I still have a hard on for the 90two, and a department I am looking at lateral transferring down to down in oregon authorizes both those and the other new Px4 storm berettas. Great guns, good excuse to buy them, but they can only go up in price if the newly sponsored version of the assault weapons ban, which also amends the old law enforcement handgun act, does roll through congress, restricting even semi automatic handguns with a capacity of more than five or ten rounds (I'm not remembering the wording there.) hadn't thought about the magazines issue, that is a very good point.

I'll find the link a little later - it's ridiculously inhibiting on sporting rights, not to mention 2nd amendment rights, and it's sponsored by a couple of re-election seeking republicans of all things. Really toasts me.

I'm buying the Kahr k9 and an XBox 360 next month, and selling my glock. That is the personal gun status, as of now. Priorities, priorities.

You mean HR 6257 or something else? This one looks like a copy paste of the old law, complete with the effective date from 1994. Funny how they keep trying to ban new TECs even though Intratec went out of business seven years ago. tounge.gif

If/when they get around to passing something, it will probably be based on the one Carolyn "shoulder-thing-that-goes-up" McCarthy wrote. Her bill said anything not suitable for sporting purposes would be banned, and said that even if things are suitable for sporting purposes doesn't mean they're suitable for sporting purposes. Or something like that.

But, yea, might be a good idea to buy the 90two now. Or at least the mags. Even if you don't end up getting the gun, you could always sell the mags later for a profit.

manbearpigy, English gun law in a nutshell: No handguns except for a few types of extremely long barreled target pistols, and no semi-auto rifles or shotguns. You can generally own things like an AR-15/Kalashnikov/etc.. though as long as there's no gas port, gas tube, and/or piston so that it behaves like a bolt-action rifle. To get anything, you'll have to apply for a license at your local police station and you'll need an approved safe. Being that legal advice on the internet is worth as much as you paid for it, it's probably best to just ask the police (since you'll end up there to apply anyway), or check out a gun shop to see what they can get and find out what paperwork is needed.

I'm gonna sell my Magnum .357 one of these days. I have no use of a revolver. That sh*t just makes too much noise.

Personally, I prefer revolvers for target practice when it comes to handguns, but that's just me.

And firearms are like fireworks; there's no fun if there's no boom.

The revolver is my all-around favourite type of gun, they are so dependable, and I can actually aim, so I don't really need any more than 8 shots at the most (i've only shot 6, 7 and 8 shot), and even so, using the speed loader or even the moon-clip, I have almost the same amount of reload time.

There's still a boom if you use supersonic ammunition with a suppressor.

Never was a fan of the speed reloader. The old fashion way just feels... right.

Besides, if you're on a range, it's not like you have to waste all your rounds as soon as possible.

@nlitement: I was referring to GTAvanja's comment about the .357 Magnum being too loud.

Oh definitely, at the range I usually take my time, but I do like to practice with the speedloader for home-protection purposes and crap.

I mean, it can't hurt to be able to do something I may never need to do, but it would hurt to not be able to do it when I need to.

Well, pretty much every gun I shoot, I like to practice quick reloading, even revolvers, when I dont use the SL or the moon-clips, I still try to make time to practice quick reloading, just in-case I'm ever in a situation where my life depends on it.

Very true.

Then again, if my home is being invaded, I have other firearms that I'll pull out before I use the D&W. Of course, they take about the same amount of time to load...

I just use the 7-shot 686 S&W for the house, but I have a cheap KelTec 9mm for a backup.

I have a 12 gauge for the house. I think that's the best choice since if someone attacked me in the house it would be pretty much a close range shootout...and it wouldn't last long either.

Just remember... Save your last shell for the ceiling so when the cops swing

by you can point up and show them your "warning" shot and say he kept on comin'. tounge.gif

Speaking of shotgun shells I just bought a revolver. Normally that wouldn't make much sense

but this is the Taurus Judge were talking about. Shots the 45Long Colt and 410 Shot shell.

It was harder than hell to get my hands on (I wanted to buy locally because the economy stupid)

so I couldn't be picky. It's the basic blue as opposed to the stainless, ultra-light with concealed

hammer... I might hard chrome it?? At least it still has "THE JUDGE" engraved in the barrel.

I'll give it a little review and post some pics after my 3 day waiting period (mondayish)

The Taurus website has a little video about the judge here. Now that's how you sell me a gun!

Sixteen gauge for me. Not as strong as the twelve gauge, but still easily lethal. And it's right under the bed, so it's always close.

Though, I can barely remember the last time I used it, and I definitely can't remember where I put the shells for it, so I'm really not as prepared as I could be.

Well, I figured 12 gauge, because if someone attacks, I could also paint the room red in the process. It would go well with the furniture icon14.gif

@ elenman: yup, but I like to use it as if it was a single action revolver. Kinda western-ish smile.gif

If I could I would buy a SAA for fun, but that's a f*ckin' antique. It's too expensive here sad.gif

Too bad mate, in Britain, the ONLY pistols (that use live ammo, not lead pellets) that are allowed here are:

*Revolvers with 12 inch barrels (can't be concealed).

*Older, black powder revolvers.

*0.22 Calibre handguns.

I remember when I used the 45. caliber magnum 357 up Gun Club. Hell of a weapon, not to much recoil, packed one hell of a punch.

There was a black powder pistol there, bloody hell, great fun. Now I'll make a point, there has NEVER been an injury in Tondi gun club,

it's been around for about 100 years; but yet at Delta force paintballing there have been cases of peoples eyes being shot confused.gif .

The government should really allow assault weapons in my opinion.

Sorry Illspirit, but that part's not entirely true. Semi-auto rifle's and shotguns are legal. The deciding factor as to their legality is the magazine size. Shotgun's it's a 4 cartridge magazine tube, semi-auto rifle's I'm not too sure.

I have a silenced semi-auto .22 and the biggest magazine I have for that is 18 rounds.

.22 pistols are illegal. As it's classed as a handgun and it does'nt conform to the dimensions to make it legal. Who'd want a .22 pistol that has a 12"+ barrel?

The Judge is a fun little gun. Built solid with a nice weight to it.

I tested it with slugs,#8 #6,#4, #000 and 45C. The under bottom of

the barrel is clearly marked 45LC/410GA (Unusual to see 45 colt

marked as 45LC nowadays.) Taurus usually marks the hell out of their guns

with model numbers, serial numbers, made in Brazil, Taurus Florida USA and

about 7 other things in that horrendous font they use.. this gun, no exception. However,

it's much smaller on this revolver than on the slide of their auto's. The hammer and

trigger don't match the guns finish and show heat marks from tempering. Also their is

a minor flaw in my finish looks like the bluing rubbed off, not very big and not in a

revealing spot but just the excuse I needed to refinish it in stainless or hard chrome.

For self defense I would use a mix of some #4 shot, 000 Buck, & some hot 45LC.

The .410 2 1/2" 000 Buck holds 3 pellets and is absolutely devastating within 7 yards.

At 210 grains and something like 1300 FPS the target will, in essence, be shot three times

for every one pull of the trigger at the force of a 44 magnum slug. icon14.gif The 45LC of course is no

slouch either being a proven man stopper and toss some #4 in there for good measure.

Wouldn't use anything over #4 simply because I don't think you could guarantee a kill. Shot #8 has

some 200 pellets moving at 1200 FPS... Would it turn the part of your face that didn't get

ripped off into hamburger.. Yes. But may comeback to haunt you if you find yourself in front of

a Jury sympathetic to a disfigured bad guy.

hehe, it is fun to shoot. But you better get one before Obamamama rapes your freedoms.

One thing I forgot to mention, when firing shot shells you get this over the top movie

sounding explosion sound coming from your hand gun.

Will put a smile on your face. tounge.gif

I had a sergeant that loved taking them to the room clearing building. He had to be 5'4" and 130lbs at most. Scariest little f*cker I have ever met.

Very nice, Sofa King. Those are supposed to be some very fun guns, congrats on you purchase colgate.gif

One thing, and I don't mean to sound like a dick, but when you're taking pictures of your gun - may I recommend you first never point it at yourself (picture three) or if you must get a picture of the barrel, at least open the cylinder on a revolver/use a mirror or lock it for a semiauto.

Again, not trying to be a dick, and you know all the standard gun safety rigmarole I'm sure - but I could tell you some pretty gruesome stories about gun cleaning deaths I've seen on the job. Two months ago, I was responding officer to what was determined not to be a suicide or cleaning gun death, as initially called in, but a 22 year old grad student who was taking pictures of his guns for his facebook profile. Much like you picture, though with an auto, he took down-barrel pictures of what he was quite sure was a 100% clear handgun. I was never quite sure how he did it (discharged the weapon), I left that to the on call detective and the coroner, but I can quite well what happened when he did. Generally it's a simple case of bad gun safety - finger on the trigger, etc.

The bullet was a 180 Gold Dot Doubletap 10mm, fired from a Dornaus and Dixon Bren Ten. Very rare gun, incidentally, and quite valuable - goes for around $1600 bucks. One of the reasons this is one of my more memorable calls - I still want that gun. It was his fathers. Anyway, the bullet exits the gun at around 1300fps with that particular round - the 10mm has a massive amount of stopping power, and the recoil appears to have caused the kid's hand to jerk up at moment-of-discharge, causing the round to enter his head just above the right eye. It severed both the articular and temporal superficial arteries, causing massive blood spray from the entry wound - about a 15 foot projection of blood. It violently expanded as it approached the pterion bone structure, and so did not exit the body immediately, but first disintegrated a large portion of the parietal, temporal, and frontal lobes of the brain as well as most of the right side skull structure.

I really can't explain how much blood there was - I've walked on to about four murder scenes, eight suicides, and four accidental gun discharges not to mention horrible car accidents, etc. yet this was one of the most gruesome scenes I've seen since the gulf war. The lesson - don't look down your barrel. The coroner told the detective, who told me, that his death was not instant - most likely he bled out over a period of one or two minutes, with plenty of pain cognition if nothing else, as his brain functions all shut down. Awful stuff.

Sorry again if it seems an over reaction, you're just too good a forum member to loose sofa wink.gif Imagine that with .410 rounds.

Very nice Sofa.

Thx man, I didn't realize how fun and overall great wheel guns are. I always thought

as them as the tool of yesteryear and didn't see any benefit in owning one. That is

until the unique qualities of the judge caught my eye, and now I'm looking hard at

357 or maybe even a 500. I think part of it is the reduced trigger pull a single action

offers. Only owning Double actions I never really slowed down, prepared between shots

and just enjoy the experience as one should. Might get a sa/da auto loader 1st.

Your story is tragic. I really don't know what to say. I never bared witness to anything remotely similar.

As far as my pic goes... I'm well away from behind the camera, I'm taking these muzzle shots

with my arms out and pointing the camera at the guns muzzle, so I'm parallel you could say.

Still, your 100% right. I could potentially blow my hand off or something.

I appreciate your concern for little ol' me, but try not to be such a dick next time. tounge2.gifinlove.gif

Oh? I must have gotten UK law confused with Australia or something then. Capacity is irrelevant to centerfire rifles with detachable box mags though, right?

Ouch ouch ouch ouch! cry.gif

I was just about to ask Sofa not to take pics of the pointy end too. Didn't have a horror story to go with the advice though.

Was already pissed enough with the Tom Daschle pick - I thought his line was shaking up Washington politics? What a disappointment. But, not a surprise. Daschle is right in a lot of foreign policy issues, but his domestic line is a huge track record of nanny state bullsh*t and beurocratic expansion. I fear what he will do to the already bloated human services sector.
