[Toturial]How to run GTA IV on GMA x3100 or X4500

Recommended Posts

1) Update your drivers: Intel Download Center.

2) You need: GTA IV Modding Unlocker.

Unzip, run, choose the directory of GTAIV and click apply patch.

3) You need: Fragment.xml

Put it in: "\Grand Theft Auto IV\common\data\fragments".

4) You need: Timecyc.dat FarClp 151.000

Put it in: "\Grand Theft Auto IV\pc\data"

5) You need: VisualSettings.dat

Put it in: "\Grand Theft Auto IV\common\data"

6) You need: Gtxd.img

Put it in: "\Grand Theft Auto IV\pc\data\cdimages"

7) In your game folder create a note named "commandline".

Put on it:

(Updated)

-novblank

-renderquality 0

-shadowdensity 0

-texturequality 0

-viewdistance 1

-detailquality 0

-noprecache

-width 512

-height 384

-minspecaudio

-refreshrate 60

-availablevidmem 2.5

-percentvidmem 100

If your game is holy lagging with that you can edit "availeblevidmem" to lowest (it increases FPS but textures will load slowly)

Other: Do not patch the game or it will give you an error "Texp70" wich we cannot slove.

This topic is only for Intel, so don't say: Buy a new grafix card or anything else.

I recommend you to buy a new computer or a new grafic card: nVidia or ATi. (i said it, so don't repeat it)

You don't need the file patcher, just delete filelist.pak on the games common/data directory I think. Also this belongs in Modding.

Visualsettings

Bullsh*t

-nomemrestrict -novblank -renderquality 0 -shadowdensity 0 -texturequality 0 -viewdistance 1 -detailquality 1 -fullscreen -percentvidmem 2048 -noprecache -dx10 -width 512 -height 384 -safemode -availablevidmem 2.5 -noprecache -nomemresctrict -minspecaudio -refreshrate 60 -framelimit 1

Half bullsh*t. Half the commands are useless or actually reduce the FPS, others just suck. GMA x3100 is a 256MB graphics card.

-nomemrestrict Why, we don't need to go over the limits. We just need the game to run

-novblank

-renderquality 0 x

-shadowdensity 0 x

-texturequality 0 x

-viewdistance 1 x

-detailquality 1 x the last four with the x on the end are useless, just configure the settings to 0/lowest yourself

-fullscreen why fullscreen? This is per user. Some like their windows. Most don't. It's our preference

-percentvidmem 2048 wtf. where is this good for. max is 100. this is for reserving vram for other things.

-noprecache

-dx10 GTA IV is a dx9 only game

-width 512 x

-height 384 x these two with the x are bullcrap. why such low resolutions? Even old big sqaure TV's have a higher resolution

-safemode Dude, wtf, this is the same as settings every setting to lowest.

-availablevidmem 2.5

-noprecache

-nomemresctrict wrongly witten AND it's double. Look at the begin. Same command.

-minspecaudio

-refreshrate 60 WHY? You can configure this yourself in the options menu. Every resolution has a few refreshrate things

-framelimit 1 Smart, limiting the FPS to 1

Better commandlines:

-nomemrestrict

-novblank

-noprecache

-availablevidmem 2.5

-noprecache

-minspecaudio

But this is me without such graphics cards. But still, half the commandlines don't make any sense. They contradict eachother. But it just could be me and my limited knowledge. Maybe those contradicting commands make something magically happen.

Since currently i am lacking a video card and im using my HD4500 on my chipset, ima test this.

I will post back results, heheheeh this should be interesting. My other specs are in my signature.

Why you waste your eyes and time with such a

damn crap sh*tsets?

Intel chips are so laggy.

Only thing where Intel is great is the CPU, not other things.

Intel's Larrabee can compete with new high-end cards, but it hasn't come out yet.

-novblank

-renderquality 0

-shadowdensity 0

-texturequality 0

-viewdistance 1

-detailquality 0

-noprecache

-width 512

-height 384

-minspecaudio

-refreshrate 60

-availablevidmem 2.5

-percentvidmem 100

You don't know what you're talking about, remove the last three.

1) refreshrate sets the monitor refresh rate to 60. Not all screens support this value

-refreshrate:  Set the refresh rate of main render window

    – Warning - Monitor must support (ex. –refreshrate 60)

2) availablevidmem - wtf do you need this one? All settings are on bare minimum

3) percentvidmem - do you even know what this one does? Value of 100 is the same as if you don't use this command. Only in some rare cases where GTAIV faisl to recognize the correct amount of VRAM this should be used.

-framelimit 1 Smart, limiting the FPS to 1

framelimit accepts a Boolean value.

-frameLimit:  Limit frame to interval of refresh rate

(ex If refreshrate is 60HZ –frameLimit 1 = Locks down to 60HZ)

I used to run this game on this card and it really suck , it lags as hell and I can't even update the game!

So , best advice , BUY AN XBOX 360 or PS3 ,or a new gamers PC, I didn't try this but , I can assure you that it will brick the PC into pieces like my old one , it fired up because of running Windows 7 on 256 RAM!

I seem to found your problem there.

Hey, I tried the above steps you mentioned and I have a problem. Upon starting the game, the small rectangular black window comes up (the one always running in the game's background) for a few seconds, dissapears, and nothing happens. I have tried launching the game from multiple exe's in the program folder, but none work any different. The game is not patched and the game runs, but at roughly 7 fps before I tried these steps, help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

if you are running a intel graphics set you obviously arent a gamer. running games like this is crappier than xbox 360, and a waste of time. why oh why? get a real graphics card so you can run the game proper and not scrape by on some excuse of gameplay that isnt 1/10 of what it should be.
