GTA IV Annihilator

PS3 are we? Alright... (btw, this is with the "Classic Controls" setting)

You need to be able to press the shoulder buttons, the X or square buttons, the shoot button and tilt the left analog stick AT THE SAME TIME.

Right, say you want to spin anti-clockwise around a target. You'd have to get momentum by tilting toward the right and rotating to the left, holding onto X. You MUST hold onto X for the majority of the time to keep the heli from falling. Once the heli starts moving sideways, you'll have to keep the left stick in a diagonal position (say L1 L2 R1 R2 are all facing the direction of north, you'd have to push the stick north-east). But whilst doing this, you still need to keep aim, so you have to like, make the heli face your target whilst tilting in the right direction still. It sounds more complex than it is. Also, you'll have to use rotate to help keep your balance and aim, mostly you'll need to keep holding onto L2 in this case.

So during the circling around a target (anti-clockwise), you'll be doing this most of the time:

Holding X

Holding L2

Pushing the left analog stick up/right or north/east

Pressing L1 (shoot button) when necessary

You need to think about keeping the chopper steady, in movement and facing the target. Tricky stuff, but some people can manage rather well, ooo yes indeed. /Cocky Twat

EDIT: Sorry, was meant to say L2 rather than R2. The stick is what keeps the heli moving anti-clockwise, L2 keeps it facing the target.

took me 2 weeks to circle good now just have to work on aim & correct distance when shooting to make sure your not in gun range

also depending on your hand use L2 & R2 to manage ur throttle( managing ur throttle means changing ur height & speed) and then use L1 or R1 for direction of circle

Is it correct to assume all these helicopter videos are using a gamepad and not a mouse+keyboard?

If using keyboard and mouse, make sure your keyboard supports a lot of keypresses. Don't use the mouse.

Here's what I do:

Right Control = shoot

W/S = throttle/gas

A/D = rotate the helicopter left/right

numpad 4/6 = Tilt the helicopter left/right

8/2 = nope up/down

Works best for me.

Yeah, I have a personalized keyboard setup myself. But what I was wondering is if those types of results (in the video link) are possible without a gamepad. I've seen videos of both Playstation and Xbox "pilots" displaying their GTA helicopter skills, but I can't seem to find any PC non-gamepad videos (beyond basic flight demonstrations). I can't seem to get those kinds of results with a keyboard, but it may be that I'm using one (microsoft natural pro) that doesn't acknowledge more than a few simultaneous keystrokes.
