No GTA 4 music on the disk?

the obvious and simple assumption to make if what is said here is true is that although/if EFLC can not ship with the music from GTA IV, there is nothing stopping rockstar from making the game capable of using the music from the game at runtime (provided you already OWN gta IV and have it installed - does music stream from disc? or does it install as well? hmmm).

Thus, the whole thing is to make sure that even if you buy the stand alone and non-exclusive (mark my words tounge.gif) EFLC, you will still want to buy the IV vanilla to have the music selection.

What the hell? Why aren't they including Vice City FM to the DLC? I know its to recompensate for the missing tracks on the disc version, but why do they need to shut out the others who downloaded both episodes? I love '80s music! confused.gif

Zombified Jake

I have the disk version pre-ordered but now I'm not sure if I want to cancel and buy it on Live...

The only thing that bugs me is that it's not able to have it both ways. If I want to listen to the IV radio while I'm playing TBOGT, I need to get the DLC, but if I want Vice City FM, I need to get EFLC, but manage without the IV radio.

I'm guessing that they would have to relicense the tracks on Vice City FM if they were to include it in the TBOGT DLC? I dunno. I have no clue what to get.

Is common sense now so rare, that we should call it something else?

So, you want to be like that ehh?  If you read what I had to say, you would clearly understand that I meant TLaD that is out now, is not on disk, but it will be on disk when it it is part of EFLC.  That being said...again, why would you think there would be no music in TLaD if you were refering to it as part of EFLC?  Surely it would have at least most of the music TBoGT has, except for maybe the VC FM station.  But to answer your question succinctly, because you are such a tool and a troll, TLaTD will "not have like no music".  Idiot.  icon13.gif

..............

And not waste the mods time by asking the same question again, and accusing others that they are not correct in saying that the mods are giving us incorrect (unsubstantiated) info.  All we have is speculation at this point. Looser  lol.gif

I believe this the was question you were attempting to answer.

"Surely if they had to re-license the tracks because EFLC is being counted as a different game, would the disk version of Lost and Damned not have like no music...?"

Now, the important phrase to note here is "would". Would. And the meaning? Well we'll get to the meaning later. However firstly, here's your response.

"There is no disc version of TLaD. It was download only. It will only arrive on disc as part of EFLC."

Ok. Now the meaning of the word would. Now it's a fairly generic term. You'd likely learn it's meaning in any basic pre-school, yet just incase you missed it, and hey you may have been sick that day so no one's judging here. However just to help, I've highlighted the appropriate delineations.

Would.

Past tense of will

1. Used to express desire or intent: She said she would meet us at the corner.

2. Used to express a wish: Would that we had gone with you!

3. Used after a statement of desire, request, or advice: I wish you would stay.

4. Used to make a polite request: Would you go with me?

5. Used in the main clause of a conditional statement to express a possibility or likelihood: If I had enough money, I would buy a car. We would have gone to the beach, had the weather been good. See Usage Note at if.

6. Used to express presumption or expectation: That would be Steve at the door.

7. Used to indicate uncertainty: He would seem to be getting better.

8. Used to express repeated or habitual action in the past: Every morning we would walk in the garden

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/would

Now that we've learnt the meaning of the word would, lets go over the question once more.

"Surely if they had to re-license the tracks because EFLC is being counted as a different game, would the disk version of Lost and Damned not have like no music...?"

As you can clearly see the above statement does not acknowledge the existence of a current disk version of the Lost and Damned. It does however hypothesize over the future existence of a disk copy of the Lost and Damned. It asks, "would the disk version of Lost and Damned".

And once again your answer,

"There is no disc version of TLaD. It was download only."

As you can clearly see, your answer is already contained, (Ha) at an abecedarian level none the less, within the exact same question you were attempting to answer. Much as one would reply "It's not tomorrow" when posed by the question, "What day is tomorrow?". A mu har har, the work of a cretin, or perhaps an idiot? Would you not agree?

However to answer the original question.

Pap, I believe the new tracks that were included in the Lost and Damned are already licensed for disc. You knaw, that being the 60 or so songs that were new inclusions to the DLC. It just seems to be the songs which were used in IV that are going to be the problemo.

Back to the top 100 after this please auld bean! tounge.gif

Well, seems like your even more of an idiot than the first guy, you knaw? The guys question was so stupid that I assumed he thought TLAD was on its own disc because he phrased it as if TLAD was not part of EFLC. It would be like asking this:

Surely if they had to re-license the tracks because EFLC is being counted as a different game, would the disk version of TBoGT not have like no music...?

or it might have well been this:

Surely if they had to re-license the tracks because EFLC is being counted as a different game, would the disk version of EFLC not have like no music...?

As TLAD is indelibly part of the EFLC disc, to be referring to it in a sense where it is not, can give one the assumption that they are referring to it as a stand alone game, which does not exist on its own disc, thus the confusion, and my answer. It had nothing to do with the word 'would', it had to do with the idiotic phraseology of his question, not to mention the idiocy of the question itself.

To top that off, "if they had to re-license the tracks", they would be in the game, because hey, they had to re-license them, so why not use them. And you get on my case because you think I somehow don't know what the word 'would means'. If you spent as much time trying to teach your friend how to phrase a proper question, as you just did trying to teach me the word 'would', he, and you, might not come off looking like complete know-it-alls, who can't phrase a question without being contradictory and unintelligible.

So, why don't you take your tongue out of your friends ass, and let him do his own retort next time, so you don't look like such a fool for sticking up for someone who was just being an ass in the first place. It's not like I was looking for a fight here, knaw?

I don't know what to get... the DLC or EFLC.

I'm starting to lean towards EFLC, only because if I really want to listen to GTA 4's music, i'll still have that option, Versus if I just get the DLC, i'll miss out on Vice City FM.. Also, Im pretty sure EFLC will come with a nice poster. Damn you Rockstar for doing this to us xD... I'm such a GTA whore, i'm willing to pay $20 again...

^ Dont do it! Rockstar would love that. This Vice Fm thing could still turn out to be what I first thought, a cynical 'dangling carrot' to get sales of the disc up. After all, the disc version is somewhat on the backfoot because so many players have TLAD already downloaded.

As for official confirmation on this sh*t, it seems silence speaks volumes. If nobody knows what to think, theres more chance of rash buying decisions

The Notorious MOB

If only the xbox had a custom radio station then all of this VCFM bs wouldn't be a problem cause we could just download all the exclusive tracks and play them... without sumbody speaking over them.

^ Totally. You would think with the age of HDDs on consoles, it would be the perfect time to add features like that.

I don't see why it's so difficult to release Vice City FM on the DLC. I'm technically paying the same price ($40) to have both of the episodes, but via DLC. whatsthat.gif

Prehaps it is because it DLC cant be any bigger than 2. GB??

besides all you guys bitching about you beeing true GTA fans by buying TLAD when it first came out. If you ARE true fans you would buy EFLC anyway.

This the same you tell me when you tell to buy a Xbox for DLCs. the only thing is that we are talking 40 bucks here. not 200.

I somehow doubt that's the reason. If it were that they could just as easily put VCFM for download but they make it loud and clear that VCFM is for the disk only.

I have to waste 20 bucks on a game I allready bought to be a true fan? Firstly, f*ck this true fan bullsh*t.

Secondly, I want to be able to play all three games from one point.

Thirdly I want to have all music in one spot.

Fourhthly, Vice City FM is a bullsh*t station that doesn't fit liberty city and I will download it somewhere else anyway.

I think Rockstar will release VCFM for download soon . And for the Episodes , after the disapointment by the lack of some stations , I think after all that these stations don't really fit Johnny and Luis . When I play TLAD , I always only put LRR , Radio Broker , LCHC and the Beat . In the other side I like to put some Fusion , If99 , Tuff Gong and the others when I play as Niko .

But I always have a question ... What about VCFM on multiplayer between the people who have purchase the episodes and the others who download TBOGT ?

so the new DLC story runs along side lost and damned and GTAIv but your not going to get the same radio stations even thought part of the game is based around the same time! even better i think im just going to have to bite the bullet and get the DLC and miss out on that great new station!

Stations maybe not included in EFLC:

•Tuff Gong Radio

I seriously hope not, I cant live without Tuff Gong, especially since LCHC was ruined with the addition of music that isn't even Hardcore (Death Metal). I guess I will have to rely on good old LRR.

Can someone e-mail Rockstar or something?

I doubt someone will be able to change their minds, it gets released in 2 days and 12 hours, they arent going to start making drastic changes now.

If that were the case the question would not have opened as such.

"Surely if they had to re-license the tracks because EFLC is being counted as a different game,"

If the question were to make the assumption that The Lost and Damned was not part of the Episodes content, the licensing issues of tracks relating to the Episodes form Liberty City would have been irrelevant to the question. It would not have been included. As the question did not make this assumption however, it's phraseology was entirely on board. The fualt remains in your understanding and comprehension of the question.

Well, seems like your even more of an idiot than the first guy

It would've been nice of R* to forewarn us earlier back in February to tell us that the disc version would include VCFM. I would've had second thoughts of buying both episodes via download again. But there's no way I'm shelling $20 again just for one radio station and the same game (TLAD) that wasn't even that great to begin with.

Hell, I even bought a 360 just for these expansions. Seeing that mine got the E74 error two weeks ago, I would've gladly chose the PS3 instead if Sony took on the deal for DLC.

I'm confused by the TLAD tangent in this thread. The re-licensing question is only about the music originally included with GTA IV. There's no question the EFLC disc will include all the music that was introduced in TLAD. Those tracks are listed on the official TLAD site. If they weren't going to be on the disc Rockstar would update the site for truth in advertising.

Today's mail at http://planetgrandtheftauto.gamespy.com/ , Jordan answers this question:

I know that The Ballad Of Gay Tony will be released on October. 29, and so will GTA Episodes From Liberty City, and I was just wondering, if I buy Episodes From Liberty City, will the music from The Lost and Damned and Ballad Of Gay Tony carry over into the regular GTA IV game? My other question is, will Episodes From Liberty City include the regular Grand Theft Auto IV music in it, or will it only have the music from The Lost and Damned and The Ballad Of Gay Tony?

And this is the response he gave:

Thanks for the e-mail. The new music in The Ballad of Gay Tony will not carry over into Niko's story with the original game Grand Theft Auto IV. The added music for each episode is only available in each episode. Vice City FM will only be available if you buy the $40 in-store disc.

As for your second question, the original music from the original GTA IV game will be available in each episode of episodic content. All in all, I don't think you'll be disappointed in the audio selections on the radio. While it has been a while since my favorite soundtrack (Vice City), the music is always lively and diverse.

So, we are getting some mixed info from the GTA fansites.

I couldnt see why the original IV music wouldnt be carried over, it was in TLAD. even if its not thats ok, ive heard the other songs so much. and if it is carried over thats great to. im not one to be picky

From what rimbaud (one of the guys who has a copy of EFLC early) had mentioned on the spoiler thread:

I got it from Shopto, UKMAIL, and I received it about 20 minutes ago.

On the back of the case it has a small description of both DLCS

The manual includes Billy and Gay Tony on the cover

Information on the controls,

And small descriptions of each DLC

And now it lists the soundtrack details

L.C.H.C

LRR

RADIO BROKER

THE BEAT

K 109

VLADIVOSTOK

ELECTRO-CHOC

SAN JUAN SOUNDS

RAMJAM FM

SELF-ACTUALIZATION FM

VICE CITY FM

WKTT

INTEGRITY

That's it.

But on the other hand, people keep on saying that the music from IV is on there.

I guess the other theory is, that the other guy has heard a few of those stations in TBOGT and presumed theyre all in from IV.
