Agreed, if its unlocked then fine. But as Shcweppez says, trust MS to make us pay some more points for it. Or, R* will announce tomorrow they have an exclusive station for download customers, which will no doubt be twice as sh*t as anything else in IV.

People have a right to be mad though, nobody asked for this exclusivity nonsense, we just wanna pay and play. But the exact same content.

I guess it proves that "good things come to those how wait." I had to chain myself to my bed to keep me from buying TLAD, now look where we are, getting EFLC will pay off.

... That makes no sense.

Can we all just agree that them making the station Disc-Only is a stupid move, and that we should all find someway to contact R* formally and resolve this issue instead of getting so butthurt about everything?

From the people who browse this forum who don't have 360, to the people who are pissed off that the station isn't in the game.. just calm the f*ck down.

We don't want R* pulling this sort of thing on anymore people, so we just need to try to be calm. I like the idea of it 'unlocking' if you have TLAD and BOGT downloaded on your 360. That would make sense.

Choose your response:

REALISTIC:

It doesn't have to be like that, there is a simple solution:

Go buy EFLC. Its unreasonable for fans to expect that a more expensive disc version should not come with perks that the downloadable version doesn't have. Also think about the fact that EFLC will be purchasable by people who have never played GTA 4. Remember, to play the downloadable version of TBOGT you will have spent more than $60, because the cost includes GTA 4.

Its a perfectly logical move by R*, you can't expect with the loss of sales form TLAD and CTW, that they wouldn't add something extra for EFLC. In fact I commend it, but of course that could be because I have a bias.

SARCASTIC:

f*ck that, I'm buying EFLC, ya'll stop whining.

It makes perfect sense. He stopped himself from purchasing and downloading TLAD and now he'll be getting both TLAD and BOGT on disc WITH the exclusive to EFLC radio station. It ain't gonna pay off for us as a communitee, but it'll sure as hell pay off for him personally. That's the point that he was making. He was being a bit of a dick, but hey ho tounge.gif

Personally, I couldn't care less. I downloaded TLAD and now I'll be buying EFLC on disc. Rockstar are greedy and I've know this for a while now. I've come to terms with it so why can't everybody else? I've been playing GTA since I first bought a PS1 all of those years ago. GTA is the game I love and aslong as they keep the good stuff coming then I have no problem lining those shysters pockets for something I love so much.

I was just about to type the most happy post, in my excited state from hearing the news about the Vice City station. Then I read on... sad.gif

Exclusivity to the disc buyers is not good. The people that this appeals to most, are the die hard fans like us that would have downloaded TLaD on day one. Do they expect us to buy it again?!

I have just told R* my thoughts in the 'mouth off' section of their site. I put my points across politely, but sternly.

Being punished for being loyal is not cool. ¬_¬

I don't have issue with the fact that they are releasing both games on the disc. I take issue with that they're loading exclusive features on it, ignoring the individuals who got The Lost and Damned when it first came out.

There's really absolutely no, 0% reason to defend them. If you have "come to terms" with them being greedy, it doesn't mean the rest of us have to and just agree. It's the principle that they are asking for more and more money. I don't see how you can defend them...

What a3HeadedMonkey said.

It's punishing loyal customers.

Similar to the exclusive PSP CTW content, but on a much wider and even more annoying scale. It makes me mad.

Actually, in the UK, the DLC is more expensive than EFLC. So us who have paid for the DLC have paid more, to get a Digital copy, what we don't get is a Physical Copy, A Game Case, A Poster, A Game booklet containing credits and artwork, an extra slot of achievements put aside for EFLC and now, we don't get a Radio Station either.

Cilogy,, your logic is all backward. To download TLAD in UK it costs around 13 pounds (now usually more for TBOGT since they got rid of 1600 point cards). To download TBOGT it will be the same again. To buy the discs in UK is 25 pounds. So, once we download TBOGT we have spent the same money, albeit over a different time span. There is no reason in hell why the content should differ, and even less reason for people to buy a godamn game twice.

As for people who have never played IV but will buy the episodes pack, Id love to meet them, if they can leave their dark cave.

Anyone who is defending this latest rip off, is mugging themselves. congrats

Okay this is what I posted in the Mouth off Section and if you feel it makes sense post the exact same thing to them and hopefully they'll realize it's fair and go through with it.

Title: Vice City FM *DISC ONLY*

"I understand this extra content is for us to give you $40 dollars rather than $20, but why not have the content unlock after buying both DLCs and not only limiting the content to disc versions. It makes sense and it's fair if you leave it as is you'll be making a lot of customers rather angry. Point being it isn't just about the Radio station and most gamers who were loyal enough to buy The Lost and Damned day one are getting screwed if they don't get the extra content when they buy Ballad of Gay Tony also. So please keep this in mind and thank you for reading."

You actually put things into perspective for me man. There's only ten pound in the difference (seeing as though we are now forced to overpay for points we don't need). I think I'll just get the disc now. And it's not even like I'm paying for one station either as we're bound to get a snazzy new poster/map and possibly a book too. But that doesn't mean I'm happy about it dont get me wrong.. it's an outrage. But One I'll have to learn to live with.

R* is not a political campaign, they won't adjust according to what the people want, its a video game company, so they will do what they have to in order to make money. I'm not defending them, I'm just saying that fans who complain and want some kind of benefit from being "loyal customers" are playing a losing game. The principle of them asking for "more and more money" is part of the industry, if you're not used to that kind of thing already, then you don't understand consumption in the video game industry.

Have also made use of R*'s mouthoff. It's DLC yet the DLC now has less features than the disk version.

The ONLY reason for them to do this is to get some people to buy TLaD twice which is a complete dick move.

I made a suggestion: it's less preferable, but for us downloaders who want ze new radio it's a good idea, and it's also profitable for R*: sell the radio station onthe marketplace for a few points.

What makes it worse is that

"Plus bonus radio station content available only on the Episodes from Liberty City disc, including:"

Suggests there is more exclusive radio content than just VCFM.

If I'm downloading TBOGT iI'll have 500 spare points so they can have them for the radio station.

Sounds fair to me smile.gif

Cool mate icon14.gif Its quite a sneaky system with the points this time around, pays to delve into it all.

Cilogy, business is one thing but this is rip off territory. GTA is a cash cow regardless, R* doesnt need to be sh*tting on its customer base. Ive argued on here before that the whole DLC idea was a bit shady it terms of how the content was 'spread', but this radio shambles is right in everyones face

I wrote my own comment & I think it will look better if everyone does the same, instead of just copy & pasting a pre-written reply.

When you look at the price we're paying, 1600 MS points (TLAD) + another 1600 (BoGT) it comes to the same price as the disc version, but we get much, much less. Why? We are being punished for supporting R*, there's no other way of putting it. We don't get a disc, cover, box etc & now, on top of that, we actually miss out on content! Unforgivable.

Write a strong reply back to R* everyone! It's important that they hear this, hear it loud & hear it quickly. I'm sure something can be done about this if enough people make it clear.

Make sure you let R* know how you feel & why. Remember to be polite. Shouting & screaming never got anyone anywhere.

My point is that the idea is to rip you off. I'm not defending them. Yes I know I said I "commend them," but only because its a good strategic move for them only. I'm saying that it should not come as such a surprise to people that R* would rip us off like this.

In fact I think its slightly laughable. After the heaps of criticism R* got over how "real" GTA 4 was and how it was a step down from San Andreas, those same people are asking "R* you ripped us off! My panocha hurts!" Those people need to make up their minds.

What do they actually gain from giving The Disc extra content though? In reality probably only a couple of thousand dollars. Or in GTA terms... Sweet f*ck All.

this whole radio station shebang is vaguely reminiscent of apple charging for the itouch firmware updates...

I paid £180 for my ipod when it first came out, only to eventually have to fork out more money to have the ability to possibly pay for more things, whereas people who did not but on release, got that ability for free...

Doesn't stop me loving my ipod however...

Hopefully rockstar won't do this, but it deffo won't stop me loving this game... just make me rather pissed...

Sorry if I mistook your wording, but still, most people are aware of the need for profit. But there is a line between that and total greed. I did raise a chuckle on the 3rd page of this topic with all the facepalm pics, but when I think of how much money ive shelled on this DLC farce, the radio thing just tipped it for me. Ive paid the same as the disc buyer, but they get exclusive exclusive content. Yep, I have to write exclusive twice now.

It's actually a win win situation. Stop whining. If you get EFCL, Rockstar win, possibly, as that might mean you buy The Lost and Damned twice. If YOU get EFCL you get an extra radio station. Also, they had to put something in there for compensation, as the EFCL disk won't have any music from the original GTA IV.

If you get TBoGT as the DLC you don't get the Vice City FM radio station, but neither do you get the other songs from GTA IV, nor the comfort of being able to switch through all of the three stories and multiplayer modes without having to get off your ass.

There's pros and cons for each way of getting it, and there has always been. This doesn't change anything. It's just obvious to me that they had to add more music to the disc as it's supposed to be able to stand up on its own (stand-alone disc..).

Don't complain. If you want the radio station just buy the damn disc.

What's this about no music returning? Reliable source or it didn't happen.

And if not, it's lose lose in my view.
