Would you change something in the history, or use it to know the lottery numbers, or change something else? Would you travel to the future or to the past? What would you do...

November 5th, 1955.

Just to see what it was like.

And then go to October 21, 2015 and see what it was like.

(Actually pretty odd that tomorrow is October 21st, and that's the date they go into the future in BTTF2)

I would go back to the year my city became a settlement in the 1600's and then spend a few days there, move on 10 years, spend days there etc untill i reach somepoint in the future. Another thing i would do is get myself a nice sports results book and get rich the BTTF way smile.gif

Go as far as I can into the future and see what becomes of time and space as we know it. Or, I'd set it into reverse and kill myself while using it, so the machine will never stop until it succumbs to the Big Bang.

If Doctor Emmett L. Brown has taught me anything, and he's taught me much of what I know, it's that time travel is dangerous, unless you do so with a time train.

Let's say that you can use it how much do you want, so you wont change anything that might hurt you, you can just see what would hapen if, or, change something minor, that effects only your own life, like your love life, for example, or anything you want, plus you can view the time you are into without changing anything. Like you invisible (if you want) and you also out of space (if you want). I would copy the week's lottery numbers, come back and buy a card which I can choose it's numbers, then win like 5 times and such things. It wont change anything important, right?

Creed Bratton

I would definitely look up lottery numbers. Call me shallow I don't care. But I would also like to visit Ancient Greece, Roman Empire and......Wild West!

Back in time to see if I could catch Jack the Ripper (as I would know where he struck), and be more famous than fictional Sherlock Holmes is. I would of course, have a D'eagle tucked in my waistband. alien.gif

You can't change history, even if you get your hands on a working time machine. Yeah, you can switch to a different time line, but that doesn't change history any more than changing a channel on your TV changes what's happening on other channels.

If time travel existed I'd finally be able to murder all the people on my Enemies List. First stop; Oliver Cromwell.

Tsar_Smirnoff

There's way too many things to list that I would do if I had a time machine but here are a couple:

Travel 500 years into the future and see what's changed or if humanity has become extinct.

Go back to the early 90's and watch all of my favorite childhood shows.

Go back in time to watch the real 300: The Battle of Thermopylae.

Go back to the 1950's with a $20.00 bill and dine like a king.

and last but not least: Go back to August of 1969 and get a front row seat to Woodstock and drop some acid.

As for changing history, I don't think you could change the history of whatever time you originally started from. Like in Back to the Future II, I think you could change history, but you would create a tangential universe in the process which is different than the universe in which you originally started from......sorry if that's incoherent, I'm pretty tired and fatigued right now. sleepy.gif

Like this guy said, to change something in the past means it should have already happened.

So if you went back in time to kill yourself, you would have already killed yourself, which MEANS that you have no future after that, which MEANS you wouldn't be able to go back in time to kill yourself.

Now as to the jack the ripper case, no one knows what happened to him, so if you went back in time to kill him WHEN he disappeared, after he had already killed his last victim, then that would work, because you didn't change history.

I understand Tsar Smirnoff.

To answer the OP's question: I WOULD go back in time to meet Charlie Chaplin, maybe do some partying with him.

I'd probably just go to the future and see how I turned out.

Oh, and I'd check out GTAF too. Wonder what mod'll still be going with a zimmerframe in tow. turn.gif

To make myself not to exist I dont have to kill myself, but it wont kill me. You can simply solve the grandfather paradox by double universes: from where I come from - I am real. Now when I come back to the future after I killed myself - I find that me, but not me, the me that I killed, is dead, but I, as the man who already existed in the universe when the other me was killed (by me), wont just "got deleted", just stuck in a place where I know everyone but they dont know me (if, I killed myself 30 years ago). If you dont understand me, just think about the words "mulitple univeses". You will get. So in that case, I exist but as no body in one univers, while me as I know dont exist. It's simple but hard to explain. As for the ripper - maby that is what hapened to him, maby I came back in time and killed him. Well you dont have to take the last sentense seriusly.

You can go into the past and kill yourself. No contradictions there. It simply wouldn't change anything.

You mean a note that won't be printed until 50+ years later? Don't you think they'd just think it is fake?

Money design changes often.

It will change the future when you will comeback to see how things turned, but if you go back again to the moment you killed yourself, kill the second you instad of the first, by a mysterious power without changing or moving even one atom (today is impossible) then you can comeback to the present and nothing hapened.

Edit: I just realized how geek I sound right now (which is strange, because I'm a testosteron head). Nah, who cares.

I would go back to 1980 and live in the 80's, I mean hell, the Mets were great, Metallica, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and many other bands in their prime, it'd be amazing and fun. And of course I'd go back in time to prevent myself of doing dumb/embarrassing things. Then I'd go to December 22nd 2010 to see if we're still around, and the other things would be things for me like front row seats to game 6 of the 1986 World Series, sh*t like that.

Good point. I guess you'd be broke no matter how far back in time you went, unless you went back like five years or something. You'd have to acquire a collection of "dead presidents" from a bunch of different time periods I guess.....how you'd do that I have no idea; unless you robbed people.

There are a lot of things in the past that I'd like to explore. Italian Rennaissance, War of 1812, WWII, a lot of stuff. I wouldn't like to be involved, personally, I'd like to sit on the sidelines & watch, rather than take part of what I'm travelling to. Granted, I'd like to have a good time at parties (like the Renaissance or whatever), but not fight in wars. I'd like to go back to the following:

Before the Common Era & The Common Era: The whole time seems very interesting, with Alexander the Great, the empires & dynasties, Jesus Christ, etc. I'd like to see what it was like to live way back then, and meet these interesting people that have an important place in history.

The Italian Renaissance: Some of the best art, music, books, and philosophers. The whole era seemed right, and was truly a golden age. A time I'd love to visit.

American Revolution: The politics around this time were INSANE, in a good way. I think it would be interesting watching people like George Washington, John Adams, The Revolutionaries, etc.

Victorian Era: Very interesting history lies in this time period. With the Irish famine, revolt in India against the East Company, and Jack the Ripper. Would be a great inspirtation of a writer in the UK at this time.

WWII: Imagine just watching people like Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, and actions like the invasion of Poland or the bombing of Heroshema. It would be crazy!

There are more time periods, just can't think of em' now. But those are the ones I'd like to most visit.

I'd just go back some ten years and predict everything that happens, getting all the fame and pussy that come with being a new age prophet.

Though problem is with all the quantum theory if history forks differently due to chance - then I'll just have to relive a decade as a loser, and endure experiencing all the same fasion and music all over again.

Probably not worth it thinking about it now. I'll just go ten years into the future just because I'm too curious with how the current political situation will evolve. Then I can come back now, and use up all the time I waste catching up on news and politics to explore as much pussy as I can. sigh.gif

if you could somehow create parallel universes's with no consequence, i would have a sh*tload of stuff to do. im a big fan of counterfactual/alternate history, so just going back and shooting an important historical figures and seeing how life would be like would be very cool. other crap i'd do-

*see and document how the native americans lived before Columbus and major contact

*vist da Vinci, as his inventions were very ground breaking and way ahead of their time

*go to the 80's to see early Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Megadeth. then into the 70s to see Zeppelin

*go to the early days of GTAF and predict the future GTA's up to BOGT. then dissappear mysteriously.

*into the future, see how we're doing and all that. and i'd be very curious to see how people would interpret our generation/decade some 20-30 years from now

*talk to Jesus and see how he really feels about fundamentalism and all that.

*give different civilizations modern guns and see the havoc sly.gif

Cool!! VROCK FTW!!! cool.gif

I would take a look at how the things were in the 80's, and go to, say, 2050 and see if music and clanking/grinding noises are already undifferentiated (sp?) tounge.gif

seriously though, I would kill baby Hitler then go back to see how the world would be (parallel universes)

meet Bender B. Rodriguez (future) devil.gif

and bang Marilyn Monroe monocle.gif

Well.

First I'm gonna take a trip down memory lane to Hitler's Childhood, where his hatred of the Jewish People might have come from.

Lets get rid of that nasty needless hate, and hopefully he will now become a glorious canidate for the top seat in the German political system, maybe he'll wage war, maybe he wont, but it wont have anything to do with the genocide of an innocent people, so I'm fine with it.

Maybe then I'd go back and alter the chain of events in the Cold War so that the Soviet Union never falls, maybe It stays until this day, perhaps not.

Next I'm gonna take a trip to the 41st Millenium, to see how grimdark the future really is.

After that, 2100, see if the First Contact War of Mass Effect has or will take place.

2017, to see if giant robots and insect are besieging Earth.

Then 1941, to give Mikhail the blueprints prematurely for his later-to-be creation, the Avtomat Kalashnikov.

Yeah thats about it.
