I Love Anna Kournikova

Speaking of Cruz, I think he is done. It has been nearly 3 years since his last fight. Thats a looooooong time.

I heard a rumor that he will be fighting TJ Dillashaw and the winner of that fight gets Barao Next.

I think Cruz will get destroyed no matter when he fights Barao. I've never liked Cruz.

171 looks good. I'm hoping Lawler knocks Hendricks out cold, but I see it being an easy win for Hendricks.

I hope Lombard KOs Shields as well.

Yea I liked hendricks before the GSP fight, but all he did after was complain about it. You dont see Faber complaining about an early stoppage. Hendricks, just like all fighters, knows not to leave it in the hands of judges. He did and payed for it.

Yeah, I can't help but feel like he was gifted decisions in his fights with Kos and Pierce so it was just a matter of time until he ended up on the wrong end of a decision, even though I'm with the minority and believe GSP won the fight.

I'm not gonna lie I cant remember any of Hendricks fights before the GSP fight so I really cant say much about previous decisions.

But I did think he beat GSP. But I could see how it went the other way.

Hendricks-Lawlor is the next good card too. not much coming up that's too interesting imo.

When the GSP/Hendricks fight ended I honestly didn't know how the judges would score it, and I kind of figured they'd give it to Hendricks based on the damage to GSP's face, but personally I scored the first, third and fifth rounds for GSP. I definitely wouldn't have complained about the decision if they had given it to Hendricks, though.

UFC 171 is indeed a nasty card...

I'm really looking forward to 171. Just hope condit and Lombard can keep their fights standing.

@ilak if you get a chance watch Hendricks and condit. That was a good fight.

@w3 I hope Lombard knocks shield out too.

I second that, and that fight is actually free in the PSN Store right now. Just search for "UFC" and then go down until you see "UFC Fights", and way down near the bottom of that list you'll find the Hendricks/Condit fight for free in HD. There's also several other free fights on there now, such as GSP/Condit, Rousey/Tate 2, Jones/Shogun, Evans/Liddell, Evans/Salmons, DC/Mir and a few others. They're always updating it with more free fights; they usually update it before every major event with free fights from some of the participants on that next event.

Yup, same card.

It was a great fight. Hendricks won the first two rounds by taking Condit down any time Condit started winning the stand up, but in the third round Hendricks gassed out pretty badly and couldn't take Condit down anymore, or at least when he did he couldn't hold him down for any more than a few seconds, and Condit was able to make him look bad on the feet.

In a five-rounder I could see Condit taking a decision.

Brown's on a good stretch, but I don't see him ever winning the title or even getting a shot at it. He's made his way into the top 10, but he hasn't had to fight against any top 10 guys yet. When he eventually does I think he'll get wrecked. I really wish the fight between him and Condit would've happened.

But yeah, for the first time in about six years the welterweight division is interesting again (not that it wasn't interesting when GSP was dominating).

Imagine how mad I was. I had tickets to that card. It was still fun, but it could have been epic.

Pettis vs Thompson

Condit vs Brown

plus Jamie Varner, John Dodson, and Kelvin Gastelum all were suppose to be on the card before injury.

Yeah, that card could've been one of the greatest of all time if all of those injuries didn't happen.

Today is a great day for the sport of MMA:

NSAC votes unanimously to ban testosterone-replacement therapy, effective immediately

No more TRT in Vegas, which means the other athletic commissions will most likely follow suit, and the UFC has banned TRT from the organization as well.

People can still get away with it illegally as long as they don't get caught by random testing and know how to cycle it out of their system properly. It's basically the same situation as with PEDs, which (supposedly) over 50% of fighters nowadays are using. That's why the next big step for MMA would be olympic level drug screening.

Here's another article that better explains this whole situation a lot better than I ever could:

TRT is banned at last, but the battle isn't over yet

I just noticed this topic started in 2009 and only has 8 pages. That's sad. Thanks for the updates w3.

I read an article on TRT about a year ago and I think it said the acceptable limit was 6 to 1. A normal man has a 1 to 1 ratio. A least it will cut back on them being over a normal ratio on fight day.

A little bit. They let him do it in Brazil. There was concern belfort wouldn't get an exemption in Vegas since he had failed a test for steroids before. White had said if belfort didn't get the exemption he could still fight for the championship. He just couldn't use the TRT. It was belfort's decision not to fight. Basically TRT is like steroids. The fighters taking it could get a use exemption from a doctor and be allowed to fight as long as their ratio wasn't to high when they were tested.

Yeah, basically the reason Belfort needed TRT was because he abused steroids in the past and destroyed his nuts. When a person has low testosterone because of steroid abuse in the past they shouldn't be allowed to use TRT because they did it to themself; Belfort killed his balls by cheating in the past, and that's why everyone created a fuss about him being allowed to use TRT. That's why he fought in Brazil for his last three fights, because the athletic commission in Brazil didn't seem to care about him testing positive for steroids in the past.

I don't feel like the UFC screwed him at all. I feel like he screwed himself. He shouldn't have been allowed to use TRT in the first place really. Of course, the UFC kind of enabled him by allowing him to fight in Brazil for his last three fights, so they're not entirely innocent in this either.

Dan Henderson using TRT is different than Vitor Belfort using it, because Hendo's testosterone level is naturally decreasing now because of his age and he's never tested positive for steroids throughout his entire career. Same with Sonnen, Mir, and pretty much everyone else on TRT.
