I Love Anna Kournikova

I agree with most of that post. The parts I don't agree with are only because I am a relatively new fan of MMA and have only been following it closely since 09.

Did you happen to catch the online prelims? Andre "Touchy" Fili looked very good in his UFC Debut. He is from here in Sacramento and I know a few guys that are friends with him. I have seen him fight a few times live and his knees are just brutal.

Yeah, I watched every fight and then downloaded all of them the very next day and watched them all again, lol.

No doubt Fili looked like a beast. Took the fight on short notice as well. I heard he missed weight and was disappointed, but then I found out how short of notice it was and that he had already cut like 27-28 pounds. I imagine he's going to look even better in his next fight being able to actually prepare properly for it.

Same here on everything, except I'd say GSP wins by UD.

I missed Young Pettis on the prelims but I'll be watching the whole event tomorrow.

Definitely bummed about Showtime being out for 8 months as well.

Also, Rashad via UD, Woodley via UD and Rory via UD. I hope they don't all go to unanimous decisions like that but that's what I'm expecting. Should be a solid event overall though.

A lot of people are raging about it, but I agree with the decision.

Most seem to agree that GSP won the 3rd and 5th rounds, and Hendricks won the 2nd and 4th rounds.

The first round is the question mark for most people, and I thought GSP won it, and therefore the fight 48-47.

That aside, the man is tired and it's time for him to rest. I don't think we'll ever see him at 100% again.

The reign is over :(

I would like to give my two cents on the fight but I just can not. I have a bad habit of getting drunk before the main card and socializing through the whole thing. From what I remember it seemed like Hendricks won, but that was on pure speculation by friends of mine who dont know that much about MMA.

Anyway, Over on Sherdog, (not sure if ou post there or not?) Most people are saying it was a bad decision but not the worst ever. Hendricks keeps saying he did everything he could to win that fight and that its just not fair. Well being in the UFC he should know to not let the fight go to the Judges.

Yeah, it's an extremely close fight, but I think a lot of people just want to see GSP lose so bad that they can't even agree that it's a very close fight. Everyone just says "Hendricks whooped his ass", but that's really not the case. The second round was the only round he really hurt GSP, but he gassed himself out trying to finish him and then GSP picked him apart for the entire second half of that round and all of the third. He also clearly won the fifth round, and some people can't even agree with that.

It didn't feel like a robbery to me the way everyone else acts like it was, but what do I know? I've only been watching MMA for about 8 years now :)

It's pretty sweet seeing a MMA thread on GTAForums, just a group of MMA and GTA fans. I've. been an MMA fan since '09 after watching the UK vs USA season of TUF with Bisping vs Hendo, one of the the first live event I watched was the Finale for that season of TUF. The main event on that card I will always remember just like all the others that seen that fight, Diego vs. Clay was epic to witness live.

Yeah, I believe Sanchez/Guida was FOTY that year, wasn't it? Although I thought Big Nog/Couture was slightly better myself.

I'm assuming from your name that you must be excited for the big Silva/Weidman rematch?

Yeah they were both great fights, 'Nog looked outstanding in that fight. Hell yeah I'm pumped for the rematch, I'm not entirely sure how it will play out this time because it's hard to predict how Anderson will fight coming off a loss considering he's was on like a 7 year win streak but that's what makes it a great rematch.

In another note Ariel Helwani reported today that Lorenzo Fertita said the UFC would have roughly 50 events next year, that's pretty crazy to be honest considering they have only done around 30ish this year.

Yeah, the sport has grown so much in such a short amount of time. It's truly amazing, and I'm very grateful for the hard work and money that the Fertittas put into the sport, because without it the sport would still be nothing today. Most people would probably still be calling it "human cockfighting" if it weren't for the Fertittas.

As for the Silva/Weidman rematch, it's a tough one to call. Weidman almost caught Anderson in a kneebar in their first fight, so that just gives you an idea of how dangerous Weidman can be when he does get the fight to the ground, which seems inevitable, at least at one point or another during the fight.

If Anderson isn't clowning around like the last fight Weidman won't be able to KO him on the feet, so it will depend on him taking Anderson down and either finishing him with a sub or TKO, or just being able to stay on top of him and do what Chael Sonnen did in his first fight against Anderson.

I could see either guy winning it, but if I had to bet money I think the safer bet would be Chris Weidman. He's got everything it takes to beat Anderson, he just has to fight correctly and follow a specific gameplan and he should have it in the bag.

Honestly, The UFC wouldnt even be around if it wasnt for the Fertittas. It was going to go under and it would have nver gained popularity. Fighting would be dead now really. Maybe a few Boxing events every year would be bigger but thats about it.

I'm glad to see Glory kickboxing starting to pick up a bit. They just had an event at Madison Square Garden and had good ratings on Spike TV, so hopefully that continues. They've got another event on Spike TV coming up next month. I honestly think I enjoy watching kickboxing more than MMA at this point. Constant action.

Anyone see the Hunt vs. Bigfoot card? Man, what a card that was. So many good fights, especially Mizugaki vs. Perez and Hunt vs. Bigfoot. Shogun looked phenomenal to with that beautiful KO. I'm glad that good old Shogun silenced the critics.

Maybe I'm still caught up in the moment but I think Hunt vs. Bigfoot was definitely the Fight of the Year and one of the best fights in the UFC.I expected Mark Hunto (Lenni Hardt reference) to get a quick KO but Antonio Silva surprised the sh*t out of me with the punishment he withstood. It just goes to show Bigfoot performs extremely well as an underdog.

I scored the fight 48-47 in favour of Bigfoot Silva but I'm kinda glad it was a draw, it really could have went either way. Memorable fight nonetheless.

I think Hunt/Bigfoot was possibly the greatest heavyweight fight of all time, but as far as Fight of the Year goes, I think Bones/Gus still deserves that honor. I also think that Melendez/Sanchez, even though it was pretty one-sided, was also a better fight than Hunt/Bigfoot. It's all a matter of opinion, though.

Also, I don't believe Bigfoot was the underdog. The only heavyweights ranked ahead of him are Cain, JDS and Werdum. Hunt is/was quite a few places behind him. I think a lot of people expected Bigfoot to be able to take it to the ground and finish it there, though I admittedly paid no mind to the betting odds.

I scored it 48-47 for Hunt personally, but I have no problem with the draw. It was too great of a fight for either guy to be considered the loser.

Also, props for even mentioning Lenne Hardt's name. That alone tells me you know your sh*t :)

I agree with you on Jones/Gus, it was a very close second. Wandy/Stann is my number three pick just because that was a legendary moment for Wanderlei's career. Gil/Diego was nuts but like you said it was very one-sided up until the third round when Diego caught Gil with that big uppercut.

So many rediculous fights this year, I think this was one of the best years yet for entertaining fights such as Hunt/Bigfoot, Gil/Diego, Jones/Gus, Wandy/Stann, Bermudez/Grice, Hendricks/Condit and a hand full more. It's going to be tough to pick a winner.

Oh, and I almost forgot about Chandler/Alvarez II and the ladies over at Invicta FC, they have put on a couple of great shows this year.

I'm still pretty pumped for UFC on FOX 9 this weekend even though it lost two huge fights in Pettis/Thomson and Condit/Brown.

Pettis is easily one of my favorite current fighters. Dude is always exciting, but also very technical.

I'm a fan of Pettis also. He has potential to be a great champ, he has great technique, he's well rounded and a great athlete and he's humble and respectful. What's not to like about the guy? It sucks that he injury prone, he's still young and the injuries are potentially taking time from his career.

As for Condit/Brown that was a sick match-up It's a shame it got scrapped but I'm excited for DJ/Benavidez. That's a fun title fight, first fight was great too so I'm expecting a great rematch, no feeling out process this time.

Also looking forward to Lauzon/Danzig and McDonald/Faber. Abel Trujilo vs. Roger Bowling rematch after their first fight ended with a controversial illeagal knee should also be good.

Yeah, Mighty Mouse/Benavidez 2 should be great. I'll puke if the fans start booing again.

I'm pretty much interested in literally every single fight on the card, which is very rare for me. I think if Pettis/Thomson and Condit/Brown hadn't of been cancelled it could've arguably ended up being one of the greatest cards of all time, and it's free. Shame those fights had to be scrapped.

That was just so damn sad. It was turning into a pretty entertaining fight, and then it happens, almost exactly at the same moment as he lost the previous fight, a minute and some odd seconds of the second round. Going to be out for a long time. Oh well, bring on Vitor Belfort!
