wiizardii
And what if Aldo decides to play it smart and quickly go for a submission? His ground game is fantastic. And conor is the opposite. We've seen the mendes fight. Conor just relies on his great boxing and knockout power. And on the fact that he gets his opponents stressed and uncomfortable. They get arrogant and just wanna trade punches with him and never really go for what he is weakest at. Its conors gameplan, he relies on his opponents coming too aggressive, too angry and he picks them apart with his hand shots. I cant believe how no one in the UFC is seeing that. His outer personality makes most fighters underestimate him and think hes just talk. Im not saying Aldo would win, I agree with you that if a rematch does happen. Conor has the better odds. But still you never know.. I mean who would have predicted it would be such a short fight? Well to be honest with you, Conor actually did predict the fight would be that short. And Conor is also training takedown defense. Aldos ground game is good, but the only way he can get Conor in a submission is if he tries to roll to a leg lock like Maia does, albeit without takedowns. Distance control is something Conor is good at too, but it wasn't really shown in the 13 seconds of the Aldo fight. I don't wanna see him barge in like that again, if he circles instead like Anderson Silva used too, then his distance control will work. I Love Anna Kournikova
Herb Dean is losing it. He stopped the Cerrone Fight but didnt stop the Weidman/Rockhold fight in the 2nd round? I dont know how that even happens. It all started a couple years ago with the Barao/Faber stoppage. Anyway, its been a sh*tty two weeks of UFC. Seems like everybody I want to win, loses. Vanzant, Mendes, Aldo, Castillo, Cerrone. I guess, I was rooting for Faber, Rockhold and Chiesa but still. Majestic81
RDA's training has been phenomenal. He's been a beast ever since the Pettis fight. Lots of champions lost these last few months it seems. I Love Anna Kournikova
RDA was a beats before thr Petis fight. He just isnt as flashy and doesnt talk too much sh*t so he doesnt get the press. The level of competition has gotten more difficult lately so Champions can lose easier. Good for the sport. Majestic81
UFC 197 is gonna be huge. RDA VS McGregor and Holm vs Tate. Who you guys got? I think Holm is gonna be victorious but Tate is a tough fighter too. Its gonna be exciting. I dunno about the other fight, RDA is pretty tough in all aspects. But It never pays to bet against Conor it seems. I guess it will be clear from the media stuff and how each fighter is preparing mentally. Aldo had too much pressure, His last fight before taking on Conor was the Mendes II fight, which was a long time ago, All the conference stuff at 189 and repeated again at 194. Plus being champ for 10 years. You could clearly see the stress he was in. Dos Anjos is free from those things. If Dos Anjos decides to take the fight to the ground then he'll probably win. But if he trades punches with Conor he's likely to get knocked out. I Love Anna Kournikova
I scored that last fight 48-47 Dillashaw. I think everyone was so caught up in the Cruz return that everyone kinda wanted him to win. Dillashaw swung and missed a ton but he also hit Cruz more than he got hit. Oh well, At least it proved that TJ is on the same level as Cruz. Majestic81
It was close, but Im not surprised they gave it to Cruz. TJ only had one gameplan which was to knock out Cruz. Which obviously failed. The whole five rounds he was mostly missing kicks and punches, and Cruz evading them with ease. The times that he managed to hit him were not that spectacular either. Meanwhile Cruz took him down 3 times. And skillfully evaded most of the attacks. IMO TJ should have come up with a better gameplan, and should not have gotten arrogant with the "im gonna knock him out" way of thinking. Poor performance by Anthony Pettis. Lost the same way he did to RDA. I Love Anna Kournikova
Still at the end of the day he still hit Cruz more than Cruz hit him. How any times you miss shouldn't mean much. One of the points that they judge on is agression. Cruz did have 3 takedowns but TJ got up right away each time. Pettis, looked scared. Not himself at all. Alvarez lost a lot of fans as well. Majestic81
Yeah Pettis was nervous. Who saw the UFC 197 press conference? Honestly RDA's only chance of winning is going for a submission. Other than that, he's gonna got KO'd. This looks like the same as Aldo vs McGregor. The pressure is getting to Dos Anjos.. Conor keeps talking, and his opponent doesnt know what to do. McGregor needs someone American who can match him in his trash talk. Not Brazilians with average language. RDA just sat there not knowing what to speak. I wish we would have seen Nate Diaz vs CM. Diaz wouldnt have stayed quiet for that sh*t. We would have seen some out of cage brawl. Also with McGregor talking about getting the welterweight belt. Its kinda crazy that someone who can fight at welterweight has been fighting featherweights all that time. Makes you see one of the reasons why Conor has been so confident in the featherweight division. I aint questioning Conor's skill. He's definitely a good boxer, and despite his trash talk and brash behavior, He is someone who works hard. But i wouldnt be surprised, if the drop to featherweight has been planned a long time ago. He knew he was too much for them. He decided to make the most money out of beating them and then suddenly get out of the business. He said that in fact, Wants to make a lot of money thats enough to support him and then get out of MMA. Still though, I give 50% for each fighter to win. I see the fight going to ways, Either Conor will knock him out, or RDA will dominate him on the ground. Either for all five rounds, or ending it with a submission. I Love Anna Kournikova
The long er the fight lasts the more chance RDA will win. McGregor is just really good at hurting you and finishing you. JoeyLeone25
The long er the fight lasts the more chance RDA will win. McGregor is just really good at hurting you and finishing you. I think your right though, it could go wither way. Well that's the quandary when it comes to McGregor, nobody has taken the distance since Holloway and even then it was only three rounds. In a five round fight does he start panic if it's not going his way or will be simply get more and more confident? Personally, as somebody that has followed McGregor since his Cage Warrior days, I think he's probably the most intelligent fighter to have stepped into the Octagon since George, but I agree with what you've both said above, with the standards increasing more and more every day it'll be interesting to see if McGregor does concentrate on his ground game or if that becomes his weak spot. I Love Anna Kournikova
It seems as if the key to beating McGregor would be the same way to beat Pettis. Pressure him, push him against the cage and wrestle him and Ground and Pound. Mendes was beating him until he got caught. But McGregor had a lot to do with that with those Body kicks as well. McGregor is odd to me. I Can love him at times and I can hate him at times, but I know one thing, I respect the sh*t out of the way he fights. The dude is brutal. btw, Nice to see you around JL25! Majestic81
McGregor is very narcissistic. I like his fighting, his mentality and the hard work he does. But not the trash talk and the cockiness. Although I believe thats just him. Its not just a show. He really loves himself. He also studies his opponents. Something that they fail to do when it comes to Conor. everyone underestimates him. He weighs a bit more than a welterweight, So he has a welterweight knockout power. Doubt many in the lightweight could take his shots. (certainly not featherweights) I've always said the way to win against McGregor is to take the fight to the ground, submit him. Look at his record. He always finishes with knockouts. thats his strong point. His only two losses though are by submissions. So far the only fight where I have seen McGregor getting a bit frustrated and beat up was the Chad Mendes fight. I believe Chad was too small to submit him and fully control him on the ground. Only thing he could do was stay on top and elbow him. So I think it all depends on RDA and whether he wanna play it smart or not. Hopefully he learned something from the Aldo fight. Its not just his skill, its also his mental warfare. He gets a lot of fighters frustrated. Seems that not all can take that pressure. Fighters like Jon Jones for example can deal with that sh*t. Like the Sonnen vs Jones fight. I believe Nick Diaz would handle it well against McGregor, But then it becomes a question of skill and who's the better fighter between those too. But this is an unpredictable sport. We might suddenly see McGregor lose big time when he's least expecting it. Or he might continue to win. This sport is full of surprises. AceThaCreator
Hey guys its been a WHILE since i posted in this thread, man the upcoming fight between RDA vs Mcgregor is tough to call. Its hard to go against RDA especially with how dominate hes looked the past fights but McGregor is the real deal. Paired with a gift of gab and legit skill, he can beat opponents both in and outside the octagon. I dont know why but i can see him pulling off the W someway but if RDA gets him to the mat he'll be in serious trouble. Majestic81
Nortcutt lost.. that tap was so quick. Wasnt even a proper chokehold. What the hell? Edit: So apparently he had a strep throat when he took that fight. If thats the case then it makes more sense. Because that hurts like hell on its own. Without even some guy pressuring on your neck. Some UFC fighters didnt hesitate to kick him while he was down though. Bunch of dicks. A few others gave him words of encouragement. Majestic81
CM Punk is out again because he has to undergo surgery. Ridicules. He even admits his back has been hurting him way before the Gall fight was set up, and he was in agony for a month. Yet they go through all this Gall vs Punk bullsh*t just so he can pull out shortly after. Not that I expect him to do well in his fight anyway. MMA is not something you do when you are 40. Its something you have to train for since you are young. Its a mentality. You either have it or you dont. I dont think someone who has been fake fighting in the WWE for most of his life has that. Not to mention he never trained his body for fighting except this short while. He doesnt even know how it feels to get hit hard and keep going. Batista was all muscle and sh*t and was saying he felt good and prepared. Yet when he did his first MMA fight and got punched. He was like what the f*ck is this sh*t.. and he never competed again. That fight was horrible, you could see him backing up and feeling shocked when his opponent dealt his punches. This whole situation is ridicules. He's an amateur who is in the UFC just because he is a celebrity. He is not a fighter. All the high level fighters in the UFC have been training since they were very young and have competed many times. Some had to taste defeat to get where they are right now. And you're gonna tell me someone who is in his 40s who doesnt have any experience other than the small training he did since signing up for the UFC is gonna do good? I mean so far he has two injuries now and he just started training.. I Love Anna Kournikova
Someone said elsewhere that the signing of CM Punk was just so Bellator wouldnt sign him. It was an interesting thought. I dont know if the fight will ever happen though. Punk isn't getting any younger and it started out as a joke now its even more of one. Anyway, after seeing Gall fight last week I think he would beat Punk easily anyway. I realize he beat a guy with a 0-0 record but the way he did it was awesome. Also, lol at Johnny Hendericks. Steven Thompson is an absolute stud who I think will be the Welterweight champ by the end of the year. Banks.
Thompson absolutely destroyed Hendricks and I have to agree, I think he would beat Lawler and that's a fight I definitely want to see. Lawler is one of my favorite fighters at the moment but there's no doubt he got lucky against Condit. f*cking excellent fight but I had Condit winning it. Dos Anjos v McGregor is going to be an interesting match up. I was watching the Pettis v RDA fight before and I forgot just how good RDA was on that night. Pettis ain't no walk over, he's got some good strikes but it seemed like RDA was just walking through them and landing some big shots of his own. His kicks to Pettis' rib cage were f*cking devastating. It really is going to be a tough fight for McGregor, we all know how hard Conor hits and who knows how hard he's hitting at 155 pounds so it will be interesting to see how his power fares against RDA who has a great chin. For McGregor to win he has to keep the fight standing up. He can't afford to go to ground with RDA. Edited February 15, 2016 by Tommy. Majestic81
I have no doubt McGregor can knock out RDA. Dos Anjos has been knocked out before by Jeremy Stephens. RDA's striking is a bit sloppy compared to Conor. The only man who can do well against Conor in a standup fight at 155 is Nate Diaz. If RDA wants to win. He better not stand too long with Conor. Conor recently posted some videos of him doing ground and pound. But RDA still dominates him on the ground easily. So that aint gonna work. Styles are gonna play a big part in this fight. Conor has to use boxing to win. And RDA has to use his ground game. It just depends on who's smart and who takes advantage. Majestic81
Ah man.. RDA pulls out of UFC 196 due to injury. Are you f*cking kidding me? They say its a broken foot so I guess thats a legit excuse. But man.. that sucks. It feels like these fighters get so pissed at McGregor that they work their ass off in the gym and get injured.. I mean there are no shortage of fighters who wanna fight CM at 155 so we'll see what happens. UFC refused Khabib as a match up though. Probably because he would demolish McGregor. Give us Nate Diaz. Imagine the trash talk! EDIT: Diaz vs McGregor at March 5th is now official. f*ck yeah! This sh*t just got better to be honest. I wanted to see Conor against 155s other than RDA at first. And if he wins, he will face RDA eventually anyway. Also the fight is at welterweight.
