For anyone here that likes mixed martial art's post your questions and views here. I for one am a huge fan of MMA more specific the UFC and the Ultimate Fighter challenge. My views on this season of the Ultimate Fighter is that i hope Kimbo Slice will get another chance to fight and that Rampage kicks Rashad's ass lol Reshad just seems so cocky and after Lyoto Machida knocked him out he should shut his lips for a little while lol. I also think Lyoto Machida will defend his light heavy weight built for awhile to come, not only is he unbeaten so far in his MMA career but has an amazing elusive style much similar to the great Anderson Silva, any comments?

John The Grudge

I don't think the fight between Rashad and Rampage is going to happen. As far as I know Rampage has essentially retired to persue a movie career. Both those guys are cocky. It would be a good fight because I think Rashad could give Rampage some trouble.

This season of TUF is pretty weak. Kimbo is nothing special but it's obvious that Dana will do his best to have him fight again. Whatever happens Kimbo is scheduled to fight at the finale. For the record, his loss to Roy Nelson was no big deal. Nelson is much heavier and used his fatness to keep kimbo pinned down. It didn't look like he did any damage though. Kimbo shouldn't have let himself get taken down but he got sloppy.

As for Lyoto's fight this weekend, I think he will utterly destroy Shogun. I love how he uses textbook Karate moves to such lethal effect.

wow.

I could list numerous reasons why Lyoto Machida is the best thing to happen to MMA since Royce Gracie, but what I couldn't tell you is how he managed to win that fight. I am by no means a Shogun admirer but my initial reaction was that we should have been crowning a new Light Heavyweight Champion. Maybe there was something I was too one eyed Pete to see perhaps, and something will show up when I watch it in a more sober state tomorrow.

And Goldberg's constant verbal fapping off to Rogan? Jesus Christ Goldberg!

I agree about TUF and Kimbo. Dana may say he doesn't want him to fight, but knows if Kimbo learns some wrestling and ground tactics, he'll be a major draw. I also agree about the Kimbo/Roy fight. Roy's just a fat guy that knows how to use his weight, but at the same time, a skilled fighter would at least be able to fight on the ground.

I suspect champion rules. The fight was fairly even, not much happened, so even though Shogun won my a slim margin they wanted to keep the champion undefeated because the fight itself kind of sucked. Machida had a good burst in there too, I guess.

Yep. Could well be the case Mike.

I think if you were to tally up the shots landed, Lyoto would be winning the majority share. Certainly Shogun managed to land the more significant strikes, but essentially what he never managed to do was to bring Lyoto in to fighting his own fight. They were always fighting Lyoto's game. Perhaps that was a predominant factor in the judges thought process, but it just seems that this ten point scoring system the fighters are currently decided upon, isn't up to scratch.

After watching another ex-Pride guy falter I'm more ardent to see Nogueira go after Lesnar. If there's anyone to break the curse it's big Nog. I'm not sure, is anyone taking Lesnar's next threat, Carwin, seriously? tounge.gif

I'm not going to pretend as though I know more about MMA than the judges who scored the fight, but seriously, the decision was bullsh*t.

Shogun beat Machida at his own game. Landed more kicks than Machida and controlled the fight. Was always the aggressor with the exception of a couple of outburts by Lyoto.

Very upset with the decision. Both fought very well and if I was Shogun I'd be furious. Can't wait to see the re-match.

Lyoto's ribs will be aching for a week after what happened.

UFC 105. Live from Manchester, England. Live and FREE on Spike TV. No ESPN for me, I will be there...

Block 203. Row L. Seats 1-4. Come and say hi if you want, we'll be in from the beginning (probably around 5ish, we are getting to Manchester for 3pm, hit a few bars, then straight to the MEN!) as we want catch all the Prelim fights.

My predictions for the nights events:

Pearson vs Riley - Riley Unanimous Decision

Wilks vs Brown - Wilks by Sub 2nd Round

Bisping vs Kang - Bisping Unanimous Decision

Swick vs Hardy - Swick Split Decision

Couture vs Vera - Vera by TKO 3rd Round

- - - - - - - - -

Gustafsson vs Hamman - With those guys records it'll more likely be a boring three-rounder rather than an explosive fight, but prove me wrong boys! Neither has been past the 2nd round in there combined 20-odd fight record I believe...

Yeah, shogun got robbed, was the best he's been for quite some time, shame on the judges, was machida's worst form I have seen so far.

105

Could have gone to the latest do, only down the road from me, but settled for watching it on espn.

Couture nearly got poked in the eye walking to the ring lol, I really think the fighters should have more space when walking in, same with mike swick, thought he was gonna punch 1 of the crowd lol, pat on the shoulder is fine but shoving your hand in their face is well out of order, they both looked very aggravated and quite rightly, well done for not losing it.

Couture definately controlled the fight and it looked to me like he exhausted vera, but vera caught couture with some good shots sure, but could not get out of coutures in ya face grappling, I think the decision was fair.

Hardy made it look like a walk in the park, to be honest I have no idea what to expect when he faces gsp, gsp is incredible when he's on form.

I didn't like the way winner hit delgado a few more times when he was out cold, plain wrong, no need.

Brown did great, I like wilks but to be honest I was kinda rooting for brown to win and he did biggrin.gif .

I've been a semi fan of bisping, one minute I like him, next I don't, it has always been his mouth that triggered me to not like him and the time he was a coach on tuf when he did not turn up and gave a poor excuse, but since hederson fed him a slice of humble pie he seems to have toned down and become a better fighter, after his latest fight I am now a fan of bisping, it was a fair challenge for him to overcome and he sure did good against kang icon14.gif .

TUF finale this Saturday. The finalists are...

Roy "Big Country" Nelson

vs.

Brendan Schaub

I'm disappointed that Marcus "the Darkness" lost that fight vs Schaub, as well as McSweeney vs. Roy. I was hoping for them to meet in the finals. I like Schaub, but The Darkness really impressed me. That dude is scary too. And McSweeney fell under Nelson's gut and there isn't any escape. Roy Nelson is just a fat guy that knows how to use his fat to pin a guy. I hope Schaub wins, but I would give good odds that Roy Nelson uses that fat gut of his to pin him.

I wasn't going to watch the finale until I heard who else was on the card. Marcus "the Darkness" Jones will be fighting Matt "Meathead" Mitrione, and Kimbo Slice will be fighting Houston Alexander. I'm excited to see Kimbo fight with what he's learned on the Ultimate Fighter. Do I think he'll win? No, probably not, but if he does it'll be exciting. And as for "Big Baby" vs. "Meathead", I hope the baby pounds the meat...

...That sounds obscene.

The UFC undisputed 2010 demo is up for anyone interested.

I must admit, I am impressed. I am enjoying the ability to now use the cage in your endeavours and the ground-work seems to have been greatly improved, especially in the form of transitions and submissions. Also the inclusion of a 'TKO' element is also a nice, gentle token gesture to the fans of the sport.

As Lithium asked in a previous topic which I closed to try and get the activity in here flowing, anybody train or participate in any Martial Arts? In the last two months I have taken up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and I am still constantly working on the basics for around six hours a week.

That's pretty sweet! Do you guys do any sparring at all yet? I was in jiu jitsu for a bit, but moved so I got out of it for now. I found it extremely fun, and a great cardio workout. icon14.gif

Do you mean sparring as in striking or competitively practising BJJ on the mat? This may sound weird, but at our Gracie Barra Dojo we refer to competitive jiu-jitsu on the mat (usually for around 3 x 3 minutes at the end of every training session) as 'sparring' and 'rolling'.

I agree on both your points as well, the cardio is surprisingly good to say for the majority of the time your simply on your back or on top of an opponent in their guard. And fun? Hell yes! I find it fun just being able to replicate those offensive techniques I see in professional fights, i.e. currently I can perform (quite well) the kimura, americana, arm-triangle, arm-triangle from guard, arm-bar, arm-bar from guard, among others. No better feeling than hearing the constant fapping of an opponents arm as he struggles to tap the mat as you look in that fateful choke... biggrin.gif

Haha true enough there man. Sounds like your doing pretty good then! I'm looking at finding a new dojo over where I live now, although it looks like I may have found one. Evolution Fight and Fitness Club .Have you thought about getting in to any competitions as of yet? Or is there any cage fighting in your area Joey?
