Edmachine
My ISP is Lattelecom (It's Latvian... Latvia Telecommunications) and I have the Home Set 2 which is free phone + 5mbps down, 512kbps up. However, they are currently upgrading that Set to 8mbps down. But we might change to Home Set 3 which has 10mbps down, 800kbps up, free phone AND digital television. The HS2 costs $30 a month. I just took a look their optical net solutions. $40 a month for TV, phone and 100mbit/s Internet. Wolf68k
slash epeen You do know that's not real. That's something Comcast does to get higher ranking with that site and in the over all market place. I was getting the same thing when I was in Comcast. You test your speeds just about any where else and you'll see what you really get. Although I will say that the upload speed is big for what I remember seeing in my tests. Try http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest and see what you get. @SyphonePayne HA-HA Mine is faster Ok so it's faster by 0.01 but still
Edmachine
Yes. I know. That isn't my real speed. Something was wrong with my net and Speedtest was showing all sorts of weird results (way above what I am supposed to get. Everything was fine after a restart, though. This is what I really get. Not much, but I'm happy. Like I said previously, I'll be getting 8mbps or maybe 10mbps sometime soon. Slamman
I use AOL, since I got online, back in 2000-01. I've gotten used to the format GUI they've adopted and the mailing system is excellent, no hassle with techno babble like Outlook presents me with, I hate the Outlook Gui, it's nothing more then a Newsreader Usenet lookin' thing! UGH! AOL has seem some major facelifts and it doesn't log off and re-dial like it used to, they cleaned that mess up, and it was a bugger. Looking at the For Dummies series book on the Nets, I picked up, they claim the local library or paper can get you some ISP options outside of the commercial providers, at much reduced cost, more based on your calling area and travel. The book points out, and I'd like to remit and clarify, that IBM offers the most connection points Worldwide of any provider ISP and that you can get online for $20 a month, this is dated, but is that possible at all now days?!? Sounds great. IBM.NET I believe is the reference without looking of course
copperwire93
TMNet Streamyx, however this ISP is very popular on the earth for it's slow download speed and throttling features when it comes to p2p download such as torrent, rapidshare on so on. I hope our country have more selection of ISP than this, since this company has the monopoly, they can do whatever they want, they offer the bad service but got a good profits since the users can't get any choices. This country getting all communist every year, the authority should not encourage this kind of bad service to even run in this country. I payed $MYR60 for 40kbps download and 16kbps upload. That's right, it's really slow, they should change the company logo to a snail than boomerang. I got countless time of time out with it, certainly annoying when it comes to downloading a huge sized files. There is no freedom at all, you payed them, but all you got is dictatorship. It comes with a free router, but it only last in 1 month before it is completely fried, lol. There is no download limit, but what the point of it, if you can't download from p2p sharing websites and slow speed? Ain't this part of the world crappy? ?!=+_-
I recently moved house and now have Virgin Media which is much faster than my crappy old isp, It took 3 hours just for 1GB before but now with 10MB speed it can download 1 GB in half an hour and it costs £20 a month. Slamman
The Library has Wifi as well, I went there, it's not bad if you can find an outlet or long runnin' battery. I went there late on a Sunday, could get the router but no outside line, just so you know. I doubt Sundays will work for Net surfing. BTW, at the library, I trust my AntiVirus, however, there is some question it can main a safe experience, they have their own server/service portal, sometimes quite restrictive I'd say
